Green Fingers: Drainage

Description: Green Fingers was a series of short instructional films on home gardening tips, produced by the Victorian Department of Agriculture. In this episode, ‘Drainage’, gardener Rod Cantrill describes the importance of well-drained soil in the home garden. Cantrill demonstrates how to lay agricultural drainage pipes to remove excess water from the soil, and how to raise garden beds as an alternative method. The episodes of Green Fingers are an early example of popular gardening shows in the tradition of Sow What, Better Homes and Gardens, and Gardening Australia.
