Description: This film captures the 5A boys basketball state final between the Galveston Ball Golden Tornadoes and the San Antonio Churchill Chargers. The game was played on March 13, 1982, at the Frank Erwin Center in Austin. The Golden Tornadoes are wearing gold jerseys. While Ball fought back to close the score deficit, outscoring their opponents 20-14 in the final period, Churchill led the entire game, winning 75-74. The Golden Tornadoes finished the season as state runnerup with a 35-6 record. The Galveston Independent School District selected Ball High School basketball coach T. Berry coach of the year on March 17. Opening in 1884, Ball is currently the only public high school in Galveston.
