From forest to timber yard

Description: Episode of Series “Basic woodwork”. Film opens with a short description, aided by diagrams, of the structure of hard and soft woods followed by a demonstration on the correct way of felling trees, cutting the logs into boards and stacking to dry. The film concludes by listing the woods suitable for different types of work, eg oak and mahogany for cabinet making; pine and fir for carpentry; ash and elm for the wheelwright; and lime and maple for carving.
