Complete Record: A film by Coni Beeson Silent Handwritten on the Leader: Freedom on the Inside Faded (Sound) let print silent Workprint Heads Opening Titles: Freedom on the Inside Directed by Coni Beeson Filmed and conceived inside the gates of San Quentin Maximum Security Prison Immediately after the titles a growling-looking face flashes out at us, for less than a second. There is a quick succession of other still images of faces, then still shots of various parts of the prison- the front entrance, the key counter, the courtyard, a hallway of cells, and other such images. Moving images are integrated in as well, including longer shots of people being interviewed. There is an extended shot of a man doing a dance-exercise routine. A band is shown playing, we see close-up images of paintings, we get a look inside a cell, and see an image of a classroom. End credits include those interviewed, the San Quentin directors, and the sound credits.
