Complete Record: Text from beginning of film: The scenes making up this film were photographed in 1952, 1953, and 1954. Most of them were taken in the vicinity of Confluence, Pa. on the B. & O.’s main line some 90-miles east of Pittsburgh. This is a mountainous stretch where helper engines are used on freight trains. The scenes of the Buffalo Express were shot on the Pittsburg-Buffalo line about 175-miles north of Pittsburgh. A specific type of locomotive with the westbound Washingtonian, destination Cleveland (difficult to read on screen with that sentence). Then train sequences with text preceding each sequence: 4-8-2 Mountain type locomotive coming down grade, westbound, with the Washingtonian. 2-8-8-4 Yellowstone type locomotive --- last and biggest steamer built for the B. & O. --- working as a pusher. Double-headed 4-6-2s with the eastbound Fast Mail. 4-8-2 locomotive with the afternoon Mail for Washington, arriving at Confluence. 4-6-2 locomotive on the head of the northbound Buffalo Express, near Ridgway, Pa. Southbound Buffalo Express along the Clarion River, five miles south of Ridgway. Southbound Buffalo Express near Craigville, Pa. No steamer on this one! The east bound Shenendoa gracefully rounds a sharp curve between Garrett and Meyersdale, Pa., some 25-miles east of Confluence. 4-8-2 locomotive climbing steep grade after leaving Confluence. Eastbound train. 2-10-2 Santa Fe type locomotive working as a pusher east of Confluence. 4-8-2 locomotive with eastbound mail train. Train is slowing for stop at Confluence. 2-8-8-4 articulated with a 3-unit Baldwin diesel drifting downgrade to Connelsville, Pa. A 3-unit Electro-Motive diesel and a 2-8-8-4 getting under way at coal chute between Garrett and Meyersdale.
