Forest to foundry

Description: Wundowie, Western Australia is known for its sawmills and its pig-iron foundry. It is in the midst of the jarrah country and two sawmills produce high grade timber. Iron ore is brought to Wundowie from the quarries and there reduced to pig-iron in blast furnaces with the charcoal produced from the timber waste.
