Description: Item Description Title Football--South Carolina highlights 1972, 1975, 1951 and 1952 Creator Athletic Department, University of South Carolina Date Note 1951;1952;1972;1975 Subjects South Carolina Gamecocks (Football team) Content Description [Video begins at 00:30] This compilation presents highlights from four Gamecock seasons, in the following order: 1972, 1975, 1951 and 1952. 1970s highlights have sound and the 1950s highlights are silent. 1975 season is narrated and contains clips from running backs Clarence Williams and Kevin Long. For only the 6th time in NCAA history, both Gamecock running backs, Williams and Long, rushed for over 1,000 yards. The highlights from the 1951 football season are a tribute to the Gamecocks' fourth-leading career rusher, Steve Wadiak. Wadiak, or ''The Cadillac,'' was a two-time all-Southern Conference selection who was an All-American as a senior in 1951. His retired number 37 is one of four in program history. Most of the films document UofSC's football and basketball programs; a handful document the University's track-and-field program. The majority of films and videos show games played by the Fighting Gamecocks, both football and basketball teams, and include full games and highlights, with defensive and offensive wide shots, for training, scouting and recruitment purposes, as well as special events in the athletic calendar.
