The film follows reporters and editors as they go about the business of discovering, investigating, writing and rewriting national and local stories in time to meet an uncompromising daily deadline. There is no narration--only on-the-job voices of the working press--to distract from the larger story, the meeting of the deadline, the making of a first edition.
