Description: This KPRC-TV news segment from the 1970s spotlights George Noisom, a former Hollywood actor and stunt double who was then living near Dallas. Noisom appeared in more than 40 films, including The Wizard of Oz (1939), Citizen Kane (1941), and The Postman Always Rings Twice (1946). He also played actor Mickey Rooney’s double in the Andy Hardy series. Noisom’s acting career fizzled in the late 1940s, after which he found employment as a swim and dance instructor, photographer, and Rocketdyne factory employee. At the time of this news story, Noisom worked at the Western Electric plant in Mesquite, in addition to operating his own gas station in nearby Ferris. He died on December 31, 2005, at his home in Colorado. Special thanks to Julia Coppedge and Elizabeth Greeves for their help cataloging this film.
