Description: Describes the solid, liquid, and gaseous states of matter through application of the kinetic molecular theory. Ice melting to water and water being heated until it boils and becomes steam are used to illustrate how change of state is caused by change in molecular motion. Dry ice and liquid air are also used to illustrate the relation between physical state, molecular motion, and heat. Pressure is defined as the force of molecules striking a surface, and animation is used to explain the concept of evaporation.
