Examinations

Presents J C Mathews, former chief examiner in Nuffield chemistry, who discusses some important considerations for examinations. Suggests that objectives must be defined in preparing an examination, questions should cover the full range of objectives, questions should represent a desirable teaching situation and questions should be included that allow the student to answer more freely than allowed by objective questions alone. Points out the importance of pre-testing questions, and emphasizes the need for teacher participation in the testing.
