Description: Drs Felix Sagher, Zvi Evan-Paz and Arie Dostrovsky describe case histories and treatments of the early form of cutaneous leishmaniasis, which usually heals within a year and confers an immunity. They explain that the disease is found mostly in the near east and surrounding areas, and is caused by a Parasite, called leishmania tropica, which enters the skin through the bite of an infected sand fly, the phlebotomus.
