As founder, director, playwright, composer, principal actor of the theatre company Ladipo describes his childhood and early musical experiences that influenced his work in theatre. Ladipo describes the lifestyle and commitment of the company's members, how they transport, promote themselves, the innovation required of them when performing in rural areas of Nigeria. Ladipo discusses his approach to composing suitable music, gathering facts from Yoruba culture and history, and selecting actors. Ladipo was the first playwright to use folk opera as a medium for historical tragedies
