How many drinks do you have to consume to reach a 010 blood alcohol content? That depends on the drinker's body weight and sex. For this experiment, each subject is drinking from 6 to 8 ounces of 84 proof alcohol in 90 minutes. That's about the same as 6 to eight drinks in a bar. During the drinking, accurate records are kept, and each subject is supervised at all times by a monitor. You may be saying to yourself that you don't normally drink that much or that fast. But the fact is that when most people get started, they lose count of how many drinks they've had and how many ounces of alcohol were in each drink. The proof of this is that in California, the average person arrested for driving under the influence has a blood alcohol content of.20. That's double the blood alcohol content which the test subjects will be brought to for this experiment. It's kind of early to dream, but I think it's the best thing that could happen. [Music]
