, East Africa's Olduvai Gorge in Tanzania was the site of one of the most dramatic anthropological discoveries of this century. Anthropologist Dr. Louis Leakey proved that man's origins were in Africa not Asia, as was commonly believed. Two important discoveries of the Leakey family --Zinjanthropus in 1959 and Homo Habilis in 1961 -- indicate two different manlike creatures roamed Africa two million years ago.(Also available in an edited 26 min. version).
