Description: This film is an introduction to the "new grammar" in general, and to transformational grammar in particular. It is one of a series aimed principally at English teachers and other persons who are curious about language and interested in learning something about the premises, the nature, and the principles of transformational grammar. The film discusses in some detail, as a representative example, a single class of double-base transformations, those embedded one sentence in another in what has traditonally been called an adjective clause.
