De Gaulle - Republican Monarch

Charles De Gaulle believed that France could only achieve greatness under his leadership. In 1958 a series of political disasters allowed him to return to power. Over the next ten years he was able to stabilize the economy, revive industry, and expand his country's influence in international affairs. In 1969 he resigned when the voters rejected his proposal for a new constitution. From the Leaders of the 20th Century Series SERIES.
