[Music] good evening and welcome to the away on the show awareness and I will be brought to you from the first black Cultural Arts Festival in Columbia good evening and welcome to awareness where tonight will be brought to you from the first black Cultural Arts Festival here in Columbia and for those of you who missed it we'll bring you the highlights will be young leaders I think the group is called has given us visual arts music and much much more you have an interview with an outstanding legislator from New York yes sir I'm an Arthur o Eve so please stay tuned we'll be right back good evening and welcome to awareness awareness and then we brought to you from the first black Cultural Arts Festival here in Columbia it's in case have you missed it we'll bring you the highlights the range game bill turned out to be an exciting evening the young leaders of Columbia put this on they've given us visual arts music and much much more [Music] okay and the rains came [Music] and the rains gave bill threw us off just for a little bit but I think the whole offense turned out a bit exciting one read visual arts music and much much more from the New York State Legislature so please stay tuned we'll be right back [Music] [Applause] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Applause] [Music] our greatest Negro features figures he became father struggle for liberty at the dishes books who are going to lose their face but they never lost a day [Music] [Applause] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Applause] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Applause] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Applause] at the Columbia first Cultural Arts Festival there are four exciting young black and talented people Sonique ons Eric more Rolo Haynes junior and Exxon the English of course there are others who put it all together Alex tell us about the idea and how did you first conceived the thought and what went into the working to get it all done well we started off with an art show in front of my house and it rained on us and since that didn't go over we thought that we try and get something else that would give us more exposure so Eric and myself got together and decided to festival we decided that that would introduce two people to the art and all the other facets of culture that we have here and so we got together and we started bringing in friends of our own like rolling here who's with Access bold is love and Seneca Innes and we all got together and we got all these other people together and it's about 50 to 75 overs it really didn't and you call yourselves by a noon title what is it the new black leaders the new black leaders so Nico Ennis what was your part in this whole big thing well I helped out with the dancing in the modeling and just general business that needed to be done explains well my part was to get my band here basically and get some type of sound system for the ladies to do that dancing for poets you know read their poetry also I helped along with the administrative you know duties such as helping well the little tasks like counting tickets and things like that helping distributing in Columbia that's great Eric what was your part in this whole big big job the part was really getting art together locating artists just working with the group you know as a whole and also trying to just get the whole show together you know and whatever need to be done just doing it that's very good the new black leadership very good the new black leadership Columbia's first Cultural Arts Festival [Music] [Music] [Music] [Applause] [Music] [Applause] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Applause] [Music] [Music] [Applause] [Music] [Music] [Applause] [Music] don't move don't move right there move another father [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Laughter] [Music] one shot of you saying what you were with kicker okay [Music] okay let's let it go okay that reason [Music] [Music] [Laughter] [Music] [Laughter] [Music] give me a yeah if you can't not a kick toy to count but try but please miss it though huh I mean I put one yeah come over come over here okay so start coming so much high blood pressure but they're not real it's 120 to 100 then 100 just is a little bit but um and it's not really me [Applause] I'm here with nurse Holland she's a nurse I'm here with mrs. Harley Scott she's a nurse and she's come out here to take some blood pressures of the crowd on a voluntary basis and now for a more serious note I'm here with nurse Charlotte Scott she's a volunteer a lot of research have been done depression and they're not really sure cause of high blood pressure but excessive by eating a pork and too much so and what are some of the ways that we can prevent high bar session when they feel they don die avoid fried and salt and plenty of risk and of course your medication that is prescribed by the doctor how am i doing you've no specials real good at this one [Music] 128 over 100 [Music] [Music] [Music] okay and how am i doing here your prices and how is my pleasure doing here pressures good is 130 over 84 [Music] how am i doing here your blood pressure's good is 130 over 80 for what are some of the way that we can prevent high blood pressure well we can prevent high blood pressure by off screening as we are doing here are some of the lot I have participated in this before I'm volunteering take blood pressure and we are not allowed to tell you up or down but we can tell you if it's up high enough we can tell you to go to the doctor maybe check then he can examine you without you know the methods and weights and this is one way and of course not letting everything upset you keep them calm and getting plenty of rest this doesn't seem to be one of the main things get plenty of rest [Music] I just kind of knocked my hair [Music] okay now let's go to JP and some black card now let's go to JP and some black art JP is standing by and he has some outstanding black art thank you Bill we're here with a talented young artist Miss Priscilla Clinton holding you're holding a painting that you've just recently completed yes I did this it's a black lady it's about black culture and it's just show a black freedom you know lady maybe you know it's not having a party and it's dead and a pastel colors and that's about it you know it just shows the style you know the all the techniques of the skin you know the arm like the cheekbone for instance you know I highlight the cheekbones you know around the face and that's about it about this and this here tell us about the other piece you have here is just a abstract painting did and uh I can read and it just shows it looks like it's man here he's just sitting in the world and he's just looking out over everything and really it's just everything that's on fire from this painting right it shows all the mixed up and fears and the changes that he's going through looking out over the world exciting color here we have a basic toque abstract painting am i identifying it correctly yes painting it's dealing acrylics and buff these paintings did and acrylics and that's about it about abstract painting well we thank you so it's Priscilla Clinton and now we're going to take a look at some other and their artwork miss Clinton from your own personal point of view why would you think the visual arts are so important a cultural arts festival such as this one we're having today well it's more important today you know to black people because they can to what they see and seen within the pictures nothing blared out of everything visual it can be noted sparking thank you
