Cotton Module Feeder - The KCTV News Collection

Duration: 2:05

Year Published: 1970s

Sound: sound

Description: Perhaps broadcast on KCTV (now KLST-TV) in San Angelo, Texas, this industrial promo introduces the new automatic feed system developed by Cotton Incorporated to bring cotton modules to gins. American growers adopted the module system, in which seed cotton was compacted for easier storage and transporting, in the early 1970s. Cotton gins, however, were initially unable to process the compressed modules. This new equipment uses dispersing reels to break up the cotton before feeding it to the gin via conveyer belts.
