Description: In 1772, a Quaker tanner, William Corbit, built a Georgian style house at Cantwell's Bridge (now Odessa), Delaware. This jewel of 18th century architecture is explored. Starting in Philadelphia in Corbit's time, moving to the "pocket of the past", that is Odessa, and finally through the house itself, room by richly filled room, history is viewed. With a superb musical score and no costumed actors, the film brings to life a house as typical of America as the log cabin of the frontier. Based on John A.H. Sweeney's book, "Grandeur on the Appoquinimink".
