See Karen Anderson’s picture from 1952 after she did a Crest test that proved that Crest fights cavities. She puts down the photo. She picks up a photo of her in college, saying that she did a foolish thing by stopping the usage of Crest and fluoride. Her daughter comes by holding a toothbrush. They both smile at the camera. Cut to a graph that shows that, in comparison to other fluoride toothpastes combined, Crest prevents more cavities. “Count on Crest for a future of good checkups.” 5. Charmin. color. See a man with glass, wearing a bow tie, standing in front of wrapped packages of Charmin. He’s standing by a sign that say, “Please. Don’t squeeze the Charmin.” He grabs a package and says, “Please, don’t squeeze the Charmin.” Another man says, “No. I hired you to imitate me.” He grabs the package from his imitator and says, “Please don’t squeeze the Charmin.” He puts the package back with the others and tells his imitator to practice. He walks away. Cut to a brown-haired woman talking to a brunette that she loves to squeeze Charmin. The imitator tells the brown-haired woman to not squeeze the Charmin. She tells him that he’s not Mr. Whipple. She and the brunette walk away. She explains to the brunette why Charmin’s so soft: you can see, feel and hear the softness. The brunette feels the bath tissue. She puts it to her right cheek. She also listens to it. The real Mr. Whipple comes by to tell the ladies to please not squeeze the Charmin. The brown-haired woman tells him that if he’s the real Mr. Whipple, then he’ll know why she squeezes the Charmin. He says that Charmin’s so soft that you can see, feel, and hear the softness. She measure a roll of Charmin with cloth ruler. He measures the roll too. He says it’s a whole inch fluffier. When she put some bath tissue to his cheek, he says that fluffier Charmin feels gentler to the skin. New Charmin. “It’s fluffier.” 7. Charmin. color. A delivery man with a box of packages of Charmin tells Mr. Whipple there’s a new Charmin feel. He walks quickly to two women. One of the women tells him that new Charmin’s got a fluffier feeling. She rubs some of the tissue to her right cheek. The other measures a roll with a cloth ruler. She tells Mr. Whipple to look at how much bigger it is. He says it’s almost a whole inch fluffier and that there’s never been a fluffier tissue. One of the women rubs some tissue to Mr. Whipple’s left cheek, telling him, “the fluffier the tissue”, he finishes the sentence, “the gentler it feels to your skin.” New Charmin. “It’s fluffier.” 8. Charmin. color. See Mr. Whipple walk towards his car. See a woman tell Mr. Whipple there’s a new Charmin feeling. Mr. Whipple first smiles and then goes serious. As he’s driving, a woman walks in front of him and tells him the new Charmin feeling is a fluffier feeling. See his face go serious. Cut to Mr. Whipple going into a store. A blond woman holds a package of Charmin and tells Mr. Whipple there’s a new Charmin feeling. He notices it’s bigger. She tells him it’s fluffier. There’s never been a fluffier tissue. She tells him to measure a roll. He says it’s almost a whole inch fluffier. He takes some tissue and runs it against the back of his left hand. He says it’s fluffier. As she rubs some tissue on his left cheek, he says fluffier tissue is gentler to your skin. He says that everyone’s going to want to feel it. Cut to two women feeling some Charmin tissue. They notice the tissue’s fluffier and feels gentler to the skin. New Charmin. “It’s fluffier.” 9. Charmin. color. A phone rings and Mr. Whipple picks it up. A woman on the other end of the line tells him to quickly get down to the store because there’s a new fluffier Charmin feeling. There’s never been a fluffier bathroom tissue. After he gets to the store, he wants to know what the new feeling is about. She tells him it’s fluffier. She tells him to measure a roll all the way around. He says it’s almost a whole inch fluffier. He notices it’s fluffier by feeling it across the back of his left hand. As she rubs some tissue to his left cheek, he notices that the fluffier the tissue, the gentler it is to your skin. He says that everyone’s going to want to feel it. Cut to two women feeling Charmin. They notice fluffier tissue is gentler to your skin. Mr. Whipple gets mad at the women. They quickly leave. The voiceover tells Mr. Whipple to face it because there’s never been a fluffier tissue. New Charmin. “It’s fluffier.” 10. Colgate. color. See a man stand next to a girl who’s playing with a doll in a stroller. As she puts a pillow behind the doll’s head, he says, “sugar and spice, and everything nice.” He walks away from her and says that when it comes to their teeth, little girls have to be as tough as little boys with regard to cavities. He tells the audience to get Colgate (plus MFP fluoride), the tooth toughener. He says that Colgate toughens tooth enamel, which prevents little boys and little girls from getting so many cavities. He tells the audience to get some for your children. 11. Charmin. color. See a person writing with a left hand the word “New” next to the word “the” in a sign about squeezing Charmin. The sign now says, “Please don’t squeeze the new Charmin.” She asks Mr. Whipple whether he’s seen the new Charmin. She tells him that the new Charmin is softer: you can see, feel, and hear the softness - she says this as she pulls some Charmin bath tissue from a dispenser labeled, “new Charmin.” He says he can see the difference. She rubs some tissue against his left cheek as she tells him that you can feel the difference too. You can even hear the difference. She asks him why he’s so glum. He tells her he’ll never be able to stop people from squeezing the new Charmin. She tells him, “where there’s a Whipple, there’s a way.” The new softer Charmin. “See, Feel and Hear the Difference.” 12. Johnson’s Baby Powder. color. See two women in a bathroom. On has a towel wrapped around her while the other one’s putting on eye makeup. The second woman says she’s a wreck because she’s got an interview this morning. The first woman takes some Johnson’s Baby Powder. The first woman tells the second woman that she’ll feel cooler if she uses some Johnson’s Baby Powder. The second woman wonders why she cut her hair because she looks like a squirrel. The first woman says the second woman will feel better if she uses some Johnson’s Baby Powder. She appears to not hear the first woman by turning her back to her. She returns and is glad to find the baby powder because she’s going to need that today. She then walks away. Johnson’s Baby Powder keeps you “Cool. Dry. And comfortable.” 13. Alka Seltzer. color. See a book titled, “The Alka Seltzer Christmas Tale” that’s next to a lighted candle. The book flips open to page 1: “On the night before Christmas I did last minute shopping.” See a woman say those words as she holds a present. She also says she went party hopping. Cut to an African American man dressed as Santa Clause. holds an Alka Seltzer by the top of a chimney. Cut to the Santa holding a big bag stuffed with Alka Seltzer. He brings the bag to the woman. See Santa drop two Alka Seltzer tablets into a glass of water and watch them dissolve. Cut to deer pulling Santa away on his sleigh. “Happy holidays from Alka-Seltzer.” 14. White Rain. color. See a man browsing in a store. A woman walks by and calls for the man to get her a Final Net hairspray. He tells her that White Rain non-aerosol hairspray costs 25% less. She picks up a bottle and wonders how it holds. Another woman walks by and says that it holds all day. The first woman says she loves shopping with him. White Rain non-aerosol hairspray. “Holds all day. Costs 25% less.” 15. Alka Seltzer. color, 1980. See a bedroom through its window. A man sits up on his bed. His stomach hurts and his head aches so he gets up and walks to his medicine chest. He takes out Alka Seltzer and puts two tablets into a glass of water. See the tablets dissolve. Cut to the man happily lay in bed. Cut to camera widen shot of a house labeled Alka-Seltzer. “American’s Home Remedy.” 16. Alka Seltzer. color. 1980. See a woman in bed sing about relief of having Alka Seltzer. See two tablets drop into a glass of water and dissolve. Mr. Whipple comes by and reads them the telegram that says anyone who squeezes the Charmin will be kicked out of the store. Mr. Hoffmeier appears wearing a wreath. The ladies are surprised.
