Presents a nonnarrated description of the geysers of Yellowstone National Park during the winter months when tourists are gone and the hot water springs and mud-baths steam and bubble. The Colter of the title refers to John Colter (1775-1813) who may have been the first white man to see this region.

The geyser activity has been dwindling during historic times but there are several accounts of its appearance during a more active period. John Colter, explorer and fur trapper, provided verbal descriptions based upon his exploration of the area during his winter journey of 1807-1808.The film is a fantastic document of activity. Bubbling pockets of the earth, mixed with flowing globs and steam. Made in Wyoming by a UK director, this rare film is a visual treat. Very trippy, it would also make great visuals for some indie band! Fantastic visually, it won't be something you will soon forget and is FAR FAR from boring.
