Description: In these outtakes for Houston’s KPRC-TV, reporter Bill Springer interviews then Colonel James McDivitt about preparations for and takeaways from Apollo 11. Conducted on July 16, 1970, the conversation marked the first anniversary of the mission’s launch. McDivitt was manager of Lunar Landing Operations during Apollo 11 and manager of the Apollo Spacecraft Program during Apollos 12 through 16. A former NASA astronaut himself, he flew on Gemini 4 and Apollo 9. The interview seemingly takes place in McDivitt’s office at the Manned Spacecraft Center in Houston.
