Complete Record: The film opens with a brief explanation of how and why humankind's perception of the solar system and Earth's place in it has changed over the years. Pointing to the tremendous diversity found in the system, the three scientists who narrate the film go on to explain the various forces that have shaped and, in some cases, continue to shape the surfaces of the planets and that affect conditions on them. The film explores how many scientists believe the system came into being. The film ends with an explanation of why it is important for us to learn all we can about other planets.
