Description: 15-year-old Laurie lives in suburban Seattle with her mother and step-father who is sexually abusive. Running away from home, Laurie meets up with a group of runaways and soon confronts the grim realities of the street: poverty, drug abuse, prostitution, alcoholism and violence. Apprehended for shoplifting, Laurie realizes she must seek help and benefit from community resources as an alternative to street life and a bad home situation.
