This film is a realistic glimpse of what is happening in China today; the attitudes of the Chinese people; the growing industrialism of the country where communes build their own equipment, steel mills, factories, and even ships; and the army raises its own food and builds what it needs to relieve the civilian population. An interesting view of how Mao's doctrine of self-sufficiency and diligence eradicated the misery of the poor and the luxury of the rich.
