Description: Shows the results of a project in which the United Nations sent filmmakers to selected schools on five continents where they helped children produce films ranging in subject from traffic congestion in Bangkok, to homeless children in Bogota, to truancy in Dakar, to drugs in Brooklyn., As a part of the 1979 Year on the Child, children from five continents were invited to participate in a United Nations' project to make ten motion pictures. Each child was asked specifically to make a film on subjects which were personally important them. Using a variety of techniques, this compilation of clips shows the results, featuring subjects such as traffic congestion in Bangkok, homeless children in Bogota, truancy in Dakar, and drugs in Brooklyn. The full list of participating countries also included Sweden, Tunisia, Colombia, Hungary and Singapore. Other subjects covered include overpopulation, the importance of education, poverty, drug abuse, the influence of television, the need for playgrounds and the handicapped
