Childbirth: Richard's Story

[Music] I brought Carol in yesterday morning about uh 9:00 to the clinic to have her checkup and uh when she came out she said um I've got to come back in this afternoon at uh half past 2 which I thought was little surprising because they usually leave it 10 days uh after after the baby's due before they actually say now you must come in so we had to rush home and collect all the things and get ourselves together and I bought her back again about 2 in the afternoon she stayed in um and I went home to look after the other little one and uh we got a babysitter in the phone rang and the nurse said uh is that Mr leech and I said yes and she said oh um baby is on its way um would you come in so I said oh yes and uh made a made a dash for the door and of course the traffic is always pretty bad this time and course she was in the delivery room and uh they had in fact induced her and uh she was well on her way again then down here push down if you want to push push that's it that's right it means you're pushing the right face that's it and again it was a nice surprise because uh just as the baby was due the local Midwife the one that my my wife in fact had been seen at the local Clinic fact walked in and the sister said oh that you know your Midwife is here and you know was very pleased that she'd come along and actually helped along with the birth and of course she's going to be the the one that comes along afterwards every day for 10 days or something afterwards to you know to help us out after the baby's born and when the wife comes home so there's that sort of continuity and come on come there they pushing the first time the first baby we had we felt that it was very important that we went to all the the courses so that we knew exactly what to EXP expect and it was a great help to us and again can you do it push down hard hard into bottom another [Music] bre it's com hairy monster come on that's it there we go here it comes that's it just the two kns please all come on it's a here come that's it come on come on push push push push more a bit more and a bit more oh please com it's coming very nice it really is it okay come on come on more there we are oh jeez beautiful beautiful oh please is it all right yes it's all right please it's the daughter there you are we got two little girls a little girl for you beautiful done well done well done we are 18 months of the last one didn't we all right oh beautiful now can you hold her a little bit higher up cuz I got to take the after birth way yeah okay mhm St yeah gra bit gumed up your nose the eyes open looking around um I think Carol felt um that I was helping her by wiping her brow cuz it was very hot in there and uh she does get rather hot and uh I sort of wept her brow and faned her and comfort her and generally kept her as comfortable as possible um you know during during the birth hold her hand and you just be there and I think it was it was nice and and uh you know we were together at the at the birth and I think that was very important and I I could see everything what was going on and uh I thoroughly enjoyed it it was marvelous [Music] [Applause] a [Music]
