Challenge in the air

Description: The Society of British Aircraft Constructor’s 17th Flying Display and Exhibition at Farnborough in 1956, which featured some of the latest developments in British aircraft and aero-engines. Among aircraft on view was the Fairey “Delta 2”, in which Peter Twiss had set up the world air speed record for Britain. Engines were a special feature of the show and demonstrations of the de Havilland “Super Sprite” and Napier “Scorpion” liquid propellent rocket motors are seen.
