Description: Caddie Woodlawn is a spunky 11-year-old redhead growing up on the Wisconsin frontier of the 1860's. Caddie's father indulges the girl's adventuresome spirit but her mother despairs of her ever learning the domestic arts. In this adaptation of the classic novel, Caddie cavorts with her brothers, defends mixed-blood classmates from the school bully, and conflicts with her prim, citified cousin Anabelle. Befriending Chief Tukenbheska of the local Dakota tribe, Caddie courageously intercedes when a misunderstanding between the Indians and the settlers threatens to explode in violence. At the conclusion, Caddie evidences signs of emerging from her tom-boy phase. (Circulates).
