British Way of Health

Explores health care in Great Britain, where medical services ranging from complicated plastic surgery to lessons in overcoming the physical problems of aging are offered free of charge and are available to everyone. Through portraits of three different types of physicians, the family doctor, the group practice and the consultant specialist, the film explores the advantages and disadvantages of the National Health Service. Interviews with doctors and their patients and sequences filmed during house calls, hospital surgery and outpatient therapy sessions present a positive perspective on a nationalized health care system that appears to work.
