oh you you wanted to know something about uh writing about dictating i i used to write everything out in wrong hands myself but as i've grown older and inclined to take things more easily i dictate [Music] dictation has one great disadvantage but that's for the young man who takes it he not only has to take it he has to listen to it i used to write everything in longhand but now as i'm getting older and inclined to take things more easily i dictate uh i find that uh dictation has uh one great disadvantage but that's for the young man who takes the dictation he not only has to take it he has to listen to it but now all i have to do is to talk and if i say something i don't like i only need to say it over you uh you'll observe that the young man writes with a lead pencil that has an eraser on it the most important thing about the pencil is the eraser and it occurs to me that if we were supplied with the erasers that might apply to the conduct of our lives so that we could go back and erase anything we had done that we didn't like oh you might be all right but but on the other hand on the other hand if everybody uh erased out of his life everything queer that he'd ever done well there wouldn't be much for us poor writers to write about perhaps so probably it's uh just about as well the way it is uh the uh the young man is uh paid for the hour and perhaps i'd better if you were i i might be uh getting back to my dictating i i think i might uh go on to do is just talk and
