Blue mould of tobacco

Description: Recommended methods of controlling the Blue Mould disease which is a fungus living on tobacco plants. The disease is widespread in the Australian tobacco industry. Samples of infected plants; how it is spread; the use of benzol vapour as recommended by Research Officers; fertilizing the soil; irrigation by furrow and boom spray methods; helicopter and plane spraying; the work of the Research Laboratories which test suspected plants; and work towards breeding a blue mould resistant strain of tobacco.
