Points out that these contributions have not usually been part of the history taught in this country. A survey, narrated by Bill Cosby, of the misrepresentation of African-American / Black history in educational institutions and the media illustrated with extracts from feature films ranging from 'Uncle Tom's Cabin' (1903) to 'Guess Who's coming to Dinner?' (1967). The film ends with footage of a school in Philadelphia for young black children which aims to provide them with 'the emotional armor they need to protect themselves.
