This clandestinely-filmed documentary examines the history and contemporary reality of Haiti from the 1804 revolution to the occupation of U.S. Marines to the repressive Duvalier regimes. Interviews with peasants, landowners, merchants and U.S. businessmen reveal the semi-feudal agricultural system and the growing industrial sector, as well as their consequences, including growing unemployment and the plight of Haitian refugees in the United States.
