Beyond hell's gate

Description: Three trailbike riders retrace the route that led 15,000 Chinese and 1,500 Europeans from Cooktown through Hell’s Gate to the Palmer Goldfields of Northern Queensland. Partly dramatised, it recounts the coming of the Chinese, conflicts with local people and shows remnants of Maytown, the old mining settlement of Christie Palmerston, a legendary figure of the period.
