Description: This 1964 color advertising film about the many ways to serve beef is a presentation of the National Live Stock and Meat Board and a Wilding Production. A man in a business suit, overcoat, and hat exits a blue and white taxi at a one-story house with a circular driveway. He enters an early 1960s living room and removes his coat (:20-1:00). His young daughter jumps into his arms and kisses him. He kisses his wife, dressed in a 1964 cotton fit-and-flare dress. He removes his suit jacket. His daughter comes back into the room wearing a stewardess hat, checkered scarf, and airline pin. He reads the newspaper (1:02-1:53). Dinner includes meat and vegetables, salad in wooden bowls, and water or milk. The family of five eats under a globe chandelier. Emotions range from laughing to downcast. The son spills his milk (1:54-4:32). The older daughter wears a wide fabric headband in her 1964s flip hairstyle. She sits on the floor in the living room, discussing homework with her dad, who sits smoking a cigarette (4:33-5:58). Two women wearing 1960s oversize coats approach an airline counter. They watch a United (N7215U) Boeing 720-022 Jet Mainliner arrive. Passengers disembark. One woman greets her husband at the jet bridge (6:00-6:52). In the living room with its brick wall and Buddha on the hearth, the family views slides from a carousel projector onto a screen. The mother ties an apron around her waist, her pearl necklace showing (6:54-8:25). The first slide is the North Bridge. His New England dinner has boiled beef, carrots, potatoes, and cabbage served on a checkered tablecloth (8:27-9:07). The Liberty Bell region’s meal is rib roast and green beans with onions (9:28-9:44). In Boca Ratan, his meal is prime rib cut from a large round (10:00-10:14). His Southwest dinner is beef chili in decorative1960s bowls and striped glasses, corn chips, and fruit (10:27-10:42). At a lake in Denver, a barbeque grill holds hamburgers and an ironstone coffee pot (10:44-10:52). A red-checkered plate holds a hamburger on a bun, potato chips, roasted peppers, and baked beans (11:13). A wooden party tray has open-faced hamburgers, a condiment tray, bun lids, potato chips, and scalloped bowls filled with fruit (11:31). Meat loaf with onions is served on a rectangle plate (11:38). A large bowl holds spaghetti with many meatballs floating in red sauce. Wooden bowls hold mini vegetables, slices of bread in a covered rectangle basket, and shredded cheese (11:44). A square Corning Ware skillet holds a pot roast with potatoes, carrots, and green beans (11:48). The Golden Gate Bridge meal features vegetable shish-kabobs and sirloin steaks on a grill, and on a plate and side salad in wooden bowls (12:20-12:48). Beef stew and white rice are shown in separate cafeteria pans (13:00). Porterhouse steaks sit next to corn in husks, and shown cooked on a silver platter with longhorn cow embellishments (13:15). The father cuts up a large steak with garnish and distributes it. The family prays (13:27-15:27).

don't they teach history anymore what in the Indians all right all right all right let's bury the hatchet all right all right son let's just say it wasn't the Indians okay well how was your trip dear mmm fine I think take a little time to prove it but that new production control system we put in should solve the problem okay no control you have to see me now I'm sorry mom honestly Jen please try and act like a civilized human being if that's the worst thing that happens all week I'd call it a pretty good week you're gonna be home next week we played the Wildcats and guess who is pitching oh Evers mom please can I have it Lissy what is it dad could I talk to you for a minute I've got a problem in my homework if I may be excused don't you want to finish your dinner yeah all right mom what are we having for dessert surprise something you like so that's the problem dad I have to have this term paper in by the end of the semester at least 20 pages on one of these topics foods versus fed through the years nutrition and national health regional recipes of this nation regional recipes wait a minute dad that's what steak man sir that was a regional dish wasn't it hmm I guess it was at one time no here's what I mean you travel you travel all around the country you could bring me recipes menus ideas dishes not a whole big lot of stuff maybe on beef and I could do my term paper on regional recipes no culinary contributions of the Aborigines why it means what the natives eat where they live Oh mother please would you dad well I don't I suppose I could but then I'd be doing all the work oh no don't you see you just be collecting materials but I'd be doing all the work I'd beat will I'd be director of research another boss to add to the roster while you do dear is dine out eating the nicest places yes daddy answer by pretty girls on the airplane [Music] dad is color slides of the food in the places it came a couple days ago and we wondered what was and here are the rest of the notes Oh wonderful now we give all of them New England the east-southeast middle west south great southwest west coast everything everything that's right your desk is piled so high at the winner you can find anything these turned out all right look at these bed okay let's look at him now yeah well we have time before dinner I hope it doesn't take too long John yeah would you get the projector and the screen please where is it in the hall closet a lot of ideas from these well I have some ideas for you to Martha such as setting the table please now you go ahead I'll get these sorted I'll be there here's a screen but where's the projector did you look on the floor now I hope I got everything in the right order now are those notes oh yeah John would you turn out the lights please sure all ready son now let's start where our nation was founded oh I know that why that's just an old bridge yeah son it's just an old bridge but this is the old Northbridge outside of Concord Massachusetts out of us here the first shots were fired in the Revolutionary War but dad I'm not doing a paper on history it's on food regional recipes remember coming right up Martin it was in an old Yankee in a New England I had a truly memorable dinner look an honest-to-goodness New England boiled dinner featuring of course beef a real good meal got a meal make ready to go out and build a log cabin I talked to the chef found up the meal had everything I hope you got the recipe dad oh I got the works my new the recipe and some personal notes from the chef himself it's all right there in the case but that's just one the wingman favorite here's where I found another I know that the liberty bill it's in Philadelphia right and it was there I found a very popular dish big thick slices of rib roast of beef that makes me hungry [Music] a regional favorite what Dad that is a regional it oh wait Martha and I know what you're going to say and I'll answer you later but now let's move on on to the land of sunshine the southeast you guess where this is Georgia oh that's pretty close son actually it's Florida Pokhara Tom revealed the company sales meeting and then we mm here again the main attraction was beef a big round of beef rare medium well done anyway we wanted it but Dad that isn't region or not now I know Martha you just wait a minute then I'll then answer you later now next a great Southwest vast plains and mountains yet booming with industries and growing cities this area was the birthplace of a true regional recipe chili then in Denver a friend of our plant there got me some pictures his family was on vacation camping out and of course having hamburger hamburger hmm get it made from beef my dad I always wondered why ham and beef got all mixed up that way well it's simple enough ground beef was first served in Hamburg Germany so they called it hamburger right but beef burger is the more appropriate name it's a real American dish as American is mmm baseball or an ice cream cone incidentally ground beef is probably the most versatile of any me chicken name hard at the beef burger staple of the teenage diet or any age for that matter Deanna can be baked in a meat loaf and of course it's the very basis of that old favorite spaghetti and meatballs but roasted broiled braised her as a stool it's always good good to eat and good for you now let's see if you know what this is the ninth wonder of the world [Music] all right now your dad's a lot one goof airhole is that better oh it's the Golden Gate Bridge in San Francisco right and on the west coast there are many specialties a lot of them cooked out of doors year round now this is a great favorite sirloin steak hang on Nancy there's more to come now most all beef cuts can be cooked over charcoal but this sure loin steak was kind of special so tender so full of flavor and speaking of flavor in the Middle West I found some more beef favorites how doors are in doors and the Homer at work meave provides the muscle for living beef stew is always popular in our company cafeterias boy that's for me I'm hungry wait'll you see this one porterhouse steak the finest mmm I guess you don't have to describe that one gee mom I'm starving well come and get it I've been waiting for you look at that oh there's another one for you Martha beef pot roast Oh mother that looks absolutely terrific thank you dear and as with all beef it provides so much of everything we need to stay healthy it's low in calories Martha yet it's rich in protein and things like riboflavin and niacin and that's riboflavin honey something our body needs but Dad about my term paper yes how'd you pass that the mother please well Justin it's supposed to be on regional recipes but all the material you brought me well yes I know that's because there are no regional recipes today and that can be the conclusion of your term paper but just look in the newspapers you'll see ads for steaks roasts short ribs Chris Brown beef still meat everything right at your nearest food store and with the distribution system we have why all of these good things are available everywhere and the speed of transportation gets them all to us fast and then there's communication too such as newspapers cookbooks television they tell us right away of new recipes and ideas correct so do your paper Martha start with the culinary contributions of the Aborigines oh please dad okay okay but seriously Martha conclude with the observation that well at least with beef our entire nation is just one big region today real quality products provided by American beef producers in every store all year round gee mom I'm starving let's get out this all-american me come on you know better than that Nancy it's your turn tonight okay Mary [Music] [Applause]
