Description: Teaching Film Custodians release of a DuPont Cavalcade Theater television series episode, "Barbed Wire Christmas" (season 4, episode 10), which originally aired December 20th, 1955 on ABC-TV. A documentary drama about life in a German prisoner-of-war camp for US Air Force enlisted men during World War II. As Christmas approaches in 1944, the American prisoners pool their resources to hold a Christmas party. They risk execution by disobeying an order restricting them to their barracks in order to attend a Midnight Mass. When the German commandant is summoned by his subordinates, he not only permits the service to continue, but, with the guards, joins the prisoners in their worship.
