Exteriors of Winterland, sign telling no-ticketed people to not show up for New Year show, as no tickets are available. Concert 4/9/ 1967: Opening shot of panhandle park with the Grateful Dead playing on a stage surrounded by a huge crowd of hippies. Hippies on the roofs of the bathrooms, listening to the music. Cars of the day driving on Fell street. Hippies dancing. Cuts to police officers on the Haight. Hippies hanging out of windows of Victorian houses. Police directing traffic and patrolling Haight and Ashbury. Cuts to a court room with an official speaking about the San Francisco General Hospital and the number of people being treated for LSD. Cuts to black male making a plea for the days youth seeking a different life, they have soul and need to embrace this. 1967 : WS of theater facade with marquee reading, “Grateful Dead.” Ms of police officers.
