Description: Tells the story of a young soldier during World War II who sets out on a ten-day leave to go home and visit his mother. Describes his adventures along the way as he meets a legless soldier terrified at the thought of going home; as he spends half a day looking for the wife of a comrade he has promised to deliver some soap to, but discovers her living with another man; and as he meets a homeless girl and the two share an innocent attachment for a few hours. Explains that the soldier does finally arrive home but has only a brief time to embrace his mother before he must return to the front. Russian with English subtitles.
