do foreign so so so so so so so hi everybody ah this is [Laughter] so excited to say hi that i forgot that i had a speaker on on the computer that i used for uh previewing stuff anyways i'm skip alzheimer welcome to the av geeks lunchtime streaming show where we watch old 16 millimeter films and that last film was a uh home movie visit to ireland and uh i guess that was a am i wrong was that field hockey or was that lacrosse i couldn't tell also the one scene that stuck out as i was looking was the stack of sousaphones or tubas there's things i like and there's things i just don't know so this is why we watch educational films so i'm constantly learning constantly learning for example let's learn about your food enjoy my [Music] this is the kind of day rob had been waiting for a chance to go fishing with uncle mac it looks as if rob may have something there yes sir he's got one a beauty be eight maybe nine pounds rob can't wait to show his fish to kathy she's picking berries with mother near camp [Applause] with rob's fish and all those berries it looks as if the family has a good dinner coming up dad is pleased with rob's catch rob has an idea he will cook the fish he can get the dinner all by himself and surprise mother what else should they have rob thinks hard well they could have raspberries his favorite and soda pop and cookies and cake and jelly roll and lollipops and ice cream and and raspberries his favorite of all whoa says dad tell that to uncle mac when you get me some gasoline uncle mack explains that just as people need food motors need fuel gasoline for energy and oil to keep the parts from wearing out but they need just the right amount of each to run well rob begins to understand how people need fuel too rob wonders what is the best fuel for people if rob could look closely enough he'd see that the body is made of many many tiny parts called cells there are different kinds of cells and the cells need different kinds of materials to grow and do their jobs nerve cells need one kind of material to help them send signals muscle cells need materials that give them energy to move the materials that all your different cells need to do their jobs are prepared by your digestive system from the food you eat first the food in your mouth is chewed here it is ground into small pieces and mixed with saliva when you swallow food passes down a tube to the stomach here it is mixed with special fluids which help break down the food into finer particles then it goes to the small intestine if you could see the lining of the small intestine you'd see that the food particles are very small so small they can pass through the wall of the small intestine and enter tiny blood vessels called capillaries now the blood carries food to the many different cells of the body in this way nerve cells get energy to send signals and muscle cells get energy to do their work so when rob plans his supper he asks dad to help him choose the right foods that the body needs for fuel some foods such as fresh fruits and vegetables give you vitamins and minerals but all foods give you the materials you need for growing and for energy sweet foods and foods made from flour give you quick energy so do potatoes fats and oils give you energy too and help to keep you warm eggs meat and cheese are used by your body mainly for growing and repair these foods are called proteins fish is a fine protein food which foods will rob choose for quick energy there are other important foods too some contain minerals that help build strong bones and teeth and the foods which contain minerals usually have vitamins too some vitamins help keep the eyes healthy keep the nerves working properly as they wash before dinner rob tells kathy about his surprise for mother and mother is surprised she is pleased that rob has planned such a good meal rob has the fish a fine protein food and kathy brings the bread for quick energy the salad and juice and milk have minerals and vitamins building foods and energy foods rob has thought of all the foods the body needs because rob has planned his dinner so well mother announces a surprise of her own for dessert rob's favorite all the raspberries he can eat when rob and kathy plan a different meal what should they have besides raspberries [Applause] [Music] where's my window at um encyclopedia britannica man uh so we've been uh doing a project with them uh the company uh digitizing films uh that they don't really have copies of uh and making them available for them for their use uh repurposing and then this allows us to show you kind of cool things that we have so there you go but of course we have to get some equal time to cornet so here's attitudes and health i think enjoy [Music] [Applause] this is mark baker marv is an average fellow lives in an average home in an average town but today well he looks like he saw at the world he's got something on his mind wonder what happened give a look at the list the coach put up oh yeah yeah better luck next time you're gonna make the trip to middle and look at the second team it's going to stay home they say the trip is too far dang that first team looks good yeah oh that coach what a guy yeah what an attitude yeah yeah attitude who cares when a fella has been sick he just can't be expected to do well especially if he isn't given a decent chance what can you do how can you tell mom so she'll understand marvin quiet please come in here please i'm in the dining room what's up dallas is sick again dr thomas is here now what's the matter with her i don't know she got sick at the office and had to come home in a taxi well can i do something mom can i i don't know i just don't know it seems like there's always something how there you are doctor how is she what's the matter with her well we'll have to find out a badly upset stomach no fever keep her quiet and make a rest then bring her to the office in a week for a full checkup oh she won't want to do that doctor she's not doing well in her work lost a chance at a promotion last week oh she wouldn't want to stay home to rest she lost a promotion yes it it went to another girl oh how did she take it what was her attitude well she was disappointed of him very well and couldn't do her best work her attitude was uh dejected attitude does attitude have anything to do with alice being sick well it could have everything to do with it a great many of us have attitudes that often result in illness a healthy guy like me could get sick from an attitude like say like a fella's not making the team yes that's what i mean marv there are attitudes about many things that could cause illnesses well if you could see some of the patients that come into my a couple of weeks ago i remember well let's call him john john has headaches very bad headaches and there's no primary physical cause for them that i can find he just worries a lot and has headaches or there's well call her mary although mary is seldom very ill she has indigestion no food allergies no fevers but mary is afraid i'm not sure yet of what or let's take the case of call him joe he has what we call a a tick joe's case is complicated one for a specialist but like probably half of my patients he suffers from worry or attitude problems well well how can an attitude make you sick how does a fella i mean how did alice get sick well um let's think mark i can see alice working in her office she knows is due one of the girls but who will get the promotion alice will of course she has counted on it she's determined to get it but what if she fails how can she explain her failure what will people think alice was worried about failing and being worried she was tense and made mistakes but each mistake made her still more tense until she made herself sick you see now how it works mark wow you mean worrying about failing can actually make you fail and make you sick that's right marvin then alice isn't really sick oh yes she is and don't you forget that alice is going to need care and time and lots of help to get well but she'd have got the promotion if she hadn't not necessarily but she could do her best toward getting it you see if alice realized earlier what was happening she could take a much healthier attitude she could see this particular opening as well as mark says as one chance to play on the team for a while then she could find out just what her chances were and for that matter whether this was a promotion she really wanted whether she wanted to make this team she could start by getting the facts with the facts of her situation she could make her plans in relation to those facts she knew that she was doing her particular job well she could plan for a chance to do even better things then she could carry out her plan with a broader perspective perspective sure you know see the problem in relation to your life after all that promotion wasn't the only thing she wanted in this world and very likely not the most important thing for her so why worry about it in advance or feel a complete failure afterward if people would just remember the three steps to a healthy attitude one get the facts about what's worrying you two make your plan in relation to those facts and three carry out your plan that way you gain a perspective that will make your attitude better make you feel better well i've lectured long enough i must get along i'll see it to the door dr thomas all right so long marvin goodbye doctor i wouldn't worry too much about alice if i were you just make sure she's down at the office your father will be here any minute now could you set the table for dinner for sure mom i'll go see if alice needs anything i want to think about what dr thomas said so do i get the facts make your plan and carry out the plan what are the facts about what's worrying me why didn't i make the first team maybe i've been worried and trying too hard what i'll have to do is go talk with the coach it won't be easy find out just what i can do to make the first team and go on those trips with the facts i can make my plans figure out what practice i need most work on improving what's wrong instead of worrying about it then carry out my plan practice ball handling and shooting keep on trying you know there's a sense of achievement that comes from making one making it right that's probably just as important as making the first team and i'll have more fun too that's probably what doc thomas meant about perspective i think dr thomas is right about alice i mean yeah about me too about you son yes i didn't have a chance to tell you coach didn't put me on the first team i'm not going to middleton for the game next week oh i'm sorry i know you wanted to very much oh that's all right mom maybe with a little more practice i'll make the team but i can see now what's more important in the game i have a better a better perspective [Music] a mid sandwich here um so sea enjoy [Music] [Applause] [Music] it is the sea which is all around and the mountains which are everywhere it is streams cascading down from the mountains to water the valleys below it is the gold of the right and rice a mask of quiet loveliness across the countryside [Music] ancient palaces and temples images from the darkness of centuries past the towering castles of feudal lords a shrine and sunset the fiery blast of the furnaces steel belching smoke to cloud blue skies the wine of machinery of power production lines products work all of this is japan but most of all it is people a mass of humanity 95 million industrious energetic often ingenious people a population well over half that of the united states lives on a land slightly less than the size of the state of california the japanese archipelago close to china the soviet union and korea consists of four major islands hokkaido honshu the largest island shikoku kiyushu and hundreds of smaller islands it stretches 1500 miles from northeast to southwest the northern tip of hokkaido lies at the same latitude as minneapolis minnesota the southern tip of kyushu the same as new orleans the climate is much like that found at corresponding latitudes in the united states except that japan experiences considerably more rainfall winters are cold in the north it is warm throughout most of the year in the south what is the nature of this small overburdened land which must support so many people there is violence typhoons lashing bringing floods and mountains pushed up from the sea by volcanic action still churn and burn inside more earthquakes are recorded in japan than anywhere else in the world the japanese islands are but the tops of an undersea mountain range which rims the pacific the same forces which created the mountains of japan also built the andes 8 000 miles away in south america beauty cloaks the real hardship of a land in which nature has been harsh from beneath the surface little mineral wealth can be extracted only very limited quantities of the basic metals and oil japan is extremely poor in the natural resources which an industrial nation needs and is forced to import most of the raw materials required by industry [Applause] forests which cover two-thirds of the land are among the few important natural resources but many are not commercially useful or are inaccessible and japan must import even a great deal of lumber and pulpwood rivers and the abundant rainfall which feeds them are perhaps the most important gifts of nature the rivers are generally short mostly unnavigable but invaluable for the hydroelectric power they provide dams hold back the rivers the power of the falling water is harnessed by turbines which produce millions of kilowatts of electricity for a nation which has the world's highest percentage of homes which use electricity the mountains which cover eighty percent of the land are loved and venerated by the japanese people but well might they be cursed instead for because of the mountains only 15 of the land is useful for agriculture the amount of level land on which to live on which to raise food is so scarce that in the past famine was always a threat the land available to feed a population of over 95 million people is only half the size of the state of tennessee the pressure on this land is enormous literally every square inch is intensively cultivated a farm village is called a buraku 24 houses clustered against the hillside is typical of a japanese agricultural community over 80 percent of all japanese farmers now own and work their own fields the average holding limited by law to about two and a half acres the farm population has declined dramatically in recent years in 1953 over half the people of japan were farmers now with population shifting rapidly to the cities fewer than 30 percent remain on the land by 1970 the government expects that only 11 percent will still work in agriculture survival depends upon squeezing a living from an exceedingly small portion of land the hundred and thirty people of niiiiiki are all surnamed either hiromatsu or iwasa and the members of the respective families are at least distantly related [Music] the irrigation canals are cleaned and flooded in the spring to bring water from the rivers to the rice paddies rice is by far the most important crop over half of japan's cultivated land is in paddy [Music] the patties of niiiiiki will yield a phenomenal two tons of rice per acre rice growing demands vast amounts of hard hand labor and is not readily adaptable to mechanization [Music] mechanization however has come to japan the mechanization of rice agriculture in asia is one of the greatest revolutions in the history of man and japan has led the way tractors like this and other machines are now in common use one tractor can do the work of 10 families and 10 work cows dramatically reducing the number of farmers needed to feed the nation large scale mechanization however seems impractical until the size of the farming unit can be substantially increased much of the work on the japanese farm still must be done by hand [Music] mechanization and widespread use of improved fertilizers and chemicals have helped achieve a major breakthrough in agriculture traditionally the japanese have always had to depend upon imports they were never able to produce enough food to feed themselves but now the japanese farmer is providing virtually enough for the country's needs [Music] in the orchards of each single fruit is individually cared for the patience hard work and innate skill of the japanese farmer also helps account for the miracle which is now enabling japan for the first time to feed herself and even face surpluses in many commodities government agricultural research stations have contributed toward japan's achieving the highest productivity per acre of any nation the japanese are world leaders in plant genetics here botanists develop new and improved varieties of fruits and vegetables a seedless watermelon for example and cabbages which grow to enormous size new varieties of wheat have helped improve the yield of this grain all important rice receives the most intensive experimentation experiments aimed at increasing yields still further at squeezing the last possible kernel of rice from the land producing enough food to feed herself perhaps the greatest problem this nation has ever faced is at last being solved while experimental farms and laboratories all over japan introduced dramatic new ways in agriculture life in the barakus goes on much as it always has houses made of mud and wood built as they've been built for centuries need patching [Music] mulberry trees grow on the hillsides in the spring branches are gathered several times a day to feed the silkworms which will eat only mulberry leaves once each year the worms spin their cocoons of silk and die [Music] income from the sale of silk is important to many farmers the house of mitsusa buru hiramatsu is the best in the iki he is the oldest and most honored man for many years he was the schoolteacher old people are greatly respected [Music] the hiromatsus like most older people are deeply religious they follow both the buddhist and shinto religions as do most japanese to the villagers buddhism is a means of venerating ancestors of linking one's self to the after world of achieving buddhahood or paradise in the hereafter the practices of buddhism and shinto are intermixed in the lives of most japanese and observances vary widely among many different sects [Music] governs itself by a kind of council representatives from each household gather from time to time to select the head man they discuss such things as the time to carry out the collective spring house cleaning or the date and arrangement for certain holidays and entertainments agricultural specialists visit and lecture they drink sake and laugh and a burraku meeting becomes a highly social affair [Music] women do much the same work as men dairy and beef cattle have replaced bullocks and work cows no longer needed now that tractors do their work milk and milk products once seldom used have grown very popular in recent years the women sometimes gather in the evening traditionally women's place was in the home and fields she was expected to be passive submissive and completely forgetful of self while there is still little opportunity for the country woman to engage in activities outside her home and village she now enjoys an increasing amount of freedom children are expected to study they are assigned heavy loads of homework from the fourth grade on and stay with it until late at night children attend school six days a week 12 years of free education is provided the first nine years are compulsory by law one school serves several barakus like niiiiki [Applause] children are impressed with the value of education as they are in few other countries over 99 percent of the people of japan can read and write a higher percentage than in the united states or great britain [Music] [Applause] [Music] [Applause] [Music] [Applause] [Music] [Applause] [Music] [Applause] probably much more so than in many western countries there is so much that must be learned by hard rote memory the written language is one of the most complicated and illogical ever invented by man kanji the basic system of writing is derived from ancient chinese picture writing by the sixth grade children are expected to know at least 600 kanji characters and ultimately must master two thousand the school is usually the largest and always the most important building in an area in niuki at least half the men leave the village to work at part-time jobs outside since they are unable to earn a living solely from the land a nearby fish farm employs several farmers raising fish in artificial ponds can be as profitable a use of land as growing crops eels are considered a great delicacy fish is more important to the japanese diet than to that of any other country eaten at nearly every meal fish wisely replaces meat as a source of animal protein fish and rice are the two staple foods which japan cannot live without many farmers are also fishermen some of the best fishing grounds in the world fly off the japanese coast the sea is another of japan's few great natural assets thousands of fishing villages nestle against the mountains along 17 000 miles of coastline a coastline almost double that of the united states japan has the world's largest fishing fleet four hundred thousand boats most of them small over half a million fishermen bring in six million tons of fish a year the largest catch of any nation in the world almost three quarters of this catch is made by small boats fishing the coastal waters [Music] every method of catching fish known to man is used by japanese fishermen saburo nakagawa is a riyoshi the japanese word for fishermen can mean literally teacher of fish one does not become a good teacher of fish easily centuries of lore of the sea weather whether habits of fish must be assimilated the nets are lowered as the boat is skulled along [Music] both boat and net will drift with the current for several hours [Music] if the fishing is not good boats will often join together to pass the time to wait for a change of tide [Music] when the nets are raised they may contain a good catch of mackerel or only a few squid or octopus [Music] a poor catch like this may mean days at sea searching for better grounds when saburo nakagawa returns to his village there must be fish to sell in the village of takamiji some families divide their time between fishing and farming others like the nakakawas depend completely upon the sea for their livelihood mishiko wife of saburo nakagawa comes to greet the teacher of fish home from the sea the fish are taken directly to the market to be sold only the cheapest and least desirable are kept by the fishermen themselves sell them commercially saleable varieties early each morning there is an auction in takamiji attended by shopkeepers and buyers from the cities each fish is precious not easily come by each one represents money for the fishermen and they are sold individually fish by fish after the auction mrs nakagawa sees her children off to school [Music] for breakfast there is fish soup and rice perhaps fried squid and soy sauce protein foods common in a western meal in the nakagawa diet seldom is their meat few eggs it is customary for older and younger generations to live together as members of the same household there is the kitchen and two rooms like this in the house japanese houses use little furniture and are kept generally very clean while the fisherman rests there is work for other members of the household more time is devoted to the manufacture and care of nets than to anything else more time even into actual fishing [Music] mishiko nakagawa spends about half the family's annual income on food personal income has risen enormously in recent years the average having nearly doubled since 1953 there is ample food available though in the villages perhaps its variety does not approach what a city housewife is accustomed to find a fisherman of takamiji goes again to sea in a day or three or four the little boat will return [Music] the deep sea vessels the whale and tuna ships remain out for two even three years at a time carrying the japanese flag to the oceans of the world hundreds of relatives and friends of crewmen turn out for the departure of a whaler the people of japan the people of the cities of the sea and of the land have accomplished much this land they live on imposes many hardships beyond beauty it offers little in spite of this japan has managed to build the first and only modern nation in asia its people already rich beyond the dreams of most of asia's millions still there is much to be done to bring the japanese living standard up to that of the west with each passing year there is progress a rate of progress unequaled anywhere in the world a poor agricultural country has almost overnight transformed itself into the highly complex industrial nation that is the new japan a model of success for all of asia perhaps the most rapid transformation that history has ever recorded the resourceful imaginative people of japan who are themselves their country's most valuable natural asset can be proud of their achievements [Music] title that was not intentional um but there you go um it was a little longish but that's okay uh let's see what do we want to watch um this is uh from a a local collector who's been collecting drug films and he had me scan this for him this is assassin of youth enjoy [Music] so [Music] so [Music] this is a modern city noisy confusing and complex a place of friendship or loneliness dreams or nightmares for the problems of society bring out the best or the worst in its citizens and the problems are many they are part of your own town your own neighborhoods poverty crime violence frustration broken and half-lived lives where the weak and the frantic are quick to seek relief and they seek it in many ways one way is marijuana a simple weed growing in the broken places the forgotten corners it finds its way into the half world of hoodlums dope peddlers degenerates where it provides a temporary relief from their vacant lives dried and rolled into cigarettes it reaches everywhere offering first a cheap thrill later a blinding hold that cannot be broken its victims are a convincing claim to its effectiveness in their pitiful shuffle toward the grave they are marijuana's best advertisements no one is safe for each hour of the day and night new conquests are made this very moment your own child may be reaching for the first reaper the first in the misery chain when marijuana has claimed a victim the real trouble begins that of obtaining a daily supply of constantly increasing doses large enough to quench the desire marijuana is expensive average people in ordinary jobs cannot afford it they find other quicker ways to get money theft robbery and murder are the normal results [Music] young people are quick to gain the marijuana habit for youth is always seeking new ways to be different the illegal purchase is easily made and what begins as an almost innocent adventure may be the first step of a journey into darkness and a prelude to the more dopium morphine and harrowing [Music] so let us examine this drug marijuana is obtained from the innocent looking plant cannabis indica or cannabis sativa an herb of the family mauricia cannabis has a considerable commercial value the stalks and stems are used in the manufacture of rope hemp cloth twine mats and coarse paper the seed is valuable to the paint industry by producing an oil with a great drying property cannabis has also been used in medicine to relieve pain encourage sleep and soothe restlessness in recent years however it has been supplanted by other less dangerous drugs the flowering top of the female plant produces a gum which contains the active constituent cannabin the alkaloid of the drug this substance has an intoxicating and stimulating effect on the human body the marijuana habit has claimed its victims throughout the oriental countries for over a thousand years known there as hashish it is generally used as a beverage or eaten as candy since 1934 marijuana has become a growing menace in the united states here it is mostly consumed by smoking the average cigarette contains a dangerous amount of the drug like most other narcotic drugs this one too has distinct immediate and chronic effects exhilaration laughter bloodshot eyes and a peculiar odor from the breath are symptoms of initial intoxication there is a strong response to rhythm accompanied by delirium hallucinations and a loss of the sense of time and space inhibitions are released an individual resorts to crime and immorality the chronic effects are even worse marijuana affects the blood the heart the digestive system the skin the five senses and the mind this is normal blood as seen through the eye of the microscope red and white blood cells are in balanced proportion marijuana destroys the white blood cells and thus reduces the body's resistance to infection this is a normal heart functioning well and requiring 16 breaths per minute the narcotic heart requires only two to six breaths per minute and its beat is slow and irregular the body temperature drops there is a loss of willpower and sensation the skin grows yellow coma and unconsciousness are common maniacal or melancholic symptoms appear continuous destruction of irreplaceable nerve cells in the brain causes rapid mental deterioration and finally permanent insanity [Music] so [Music] wow [Applause] [Music] yes [Music] this is judy a nice girl judy just attended that very special picnic how do you feel judy scared unhappy it's a little late for regrets but how did it happen think back how did it all start that's it the trouble began when your parents left on that trip they didn't want to leave you alone yet it seemed better than having you missed school they gave all kinds of advice remember their last words be careful be a good girl of course you remember but then mothers and fathers are always saying things like that besides you had no intention of doing anything wrong still you were sorry to see them go perhaps a little worried but you soon put it out of your mind and that very afternoon you were off to a show you've already forgotten the feature but you do remember that good looking young man it will be a long time before you forget him nice girls don't allow fellows to pick them up and you've always tried to do the right thing but what could you do he followed you in how could you stop him from sitting next to you after the show he followed you out [Music] it was just a stick of gum later well it seemed different you were calling him joe and it was almost as though you'd known one another a long time naturally you had a date and did he take you places [Music] it wasn't until you parked that joe acted different from the other boys you knew here have a cigarette oh no joe you know i don't smoke that much come on this is a special one you know the one i told you about relax learn to live just take one puff and see if you like it come on you're not scared to try now [Music] yes you did well that night judy you knew when to get off ran all the way home too but the house was so quiet and you were frightened that was when you cried you liked him and didn't you feel good when he called the next day hello oh joe i never thought i'd hear from you again glad i called oh yes joe i'm sorry about last night mean you're sorry you didn't torch up don't worry baby i've got a stack of fine stuff you want to blow tea with me tonight don't talk like that joe not over the telephone i'm in the phone booth i'll pick you up tonight at seven okay i really don't think i should go out with you anymore what's the matter don't you want to see me anymore you'll be at home at 7. i'll see you later could you get me a few more of those cigarettes sure babe sure sunday morning that's your church judy you weren't there some people missed you wondered where you were yes you were home and things were awful the house was a mess and you felt so low nothing seemed to help if only you had one more smoke if only joe would come and take you to the picnic the rest is just a bad dream but one with permanent effects you have a record now judy everyone knows about you it's too bad that every teenager in america can't see before they have a police record what we are about to show you judy take this girl to the hype tank and let her see what she could be like tomorrow next year or for the rest of her life perhaps come with me judy this girl has just started to show withdrawal symptoms from addiction to heroin she first started with marijuana had no intention of going any further but they do go further before she realized it marijuana dead in her willpower undermined her strength weakened her mind until soon the fiendish act of promiscuously sticking the needle into her body no longer seemed the gruesome perverted act that it is [Music] this girl hours further along the stages of withdrawals suffers in a way that few young people can even imagine she too a few months ago thought she could take it or leave it but she couldn't no one can for long the tragedy is thousands of girls these boys are being caught in this vicious trap regularly how would you like to be this one judy this is her third day of it you don't need to ask her how it feels she's telling you in actions that speak far louder than words oh come on judy we have more to see yet how would you like to face her future [Music] she might as well be dead probably would rather be this is what you're headed for judy how do you like it her life's ruined her friends are all gone her looks are done her health is wrecked is it worth it judy this is judy's story but many more what can we the people of america do about such the cases educational foundation of america provides the answer the foundation fights marijuana on all fronts a speaker's bureau supplies trained lecturers for use in schools churches and civic gatherings a radio department prepares scripts and lists time and develops a nationwide coverage full information on all narcotic laws is available and improvements are sponsored by the foundation an education department arranges displays in schools promotes discussion groups and essay contests encourages healthy recreation pamphlets books and posters are available to all civic organizations a united front against juvenile delinquency is conducted by the foundation in the school in the church and in the home but all this is not enough marijuana fights back chicago new york kansas city san francisco every 18 seconds of serious crime is committed in the united states with the passing of each day 36 persons are murdered 150 are robbed and 250 are victims of assault or rape every year over 100 000 persons under 21 years of age are arrested and fingerprinted mars second offenders are booked on narcotics than on any other charge and 25 of all narcotic offenders are less than 25 years old it costs taxpayers eight hundred dollars a year for every judy or joe is committed to a state institution the narcotic educational foundation needs the help of your community your educators and your church religious and moral training is necessary to aid in the fight against narcotics protect your children accept your responsibility in this campaign do your part to stamp out this vicious threat of marijuana to the youth of america can we count on you to help remember it is up to you [Music] 1949 um and
