the pike should be seven and a half to eight feet in length and weigh well under two pounds for easy handling [Applause] [Music] the flag should be three by five feet in size and made from lightweight flag nylon all flags must have a pole hem which slips over the pole these leather flag tabs hold the flag to the pole securely notice how the tab attaches to the pole clip the flag clips are spaced on the pole to hold and stretch the flag slightly the spear point is mounted by a screw attachment at the end of the pole the spear point is attractive but awkward on flagpoles used for twirling more popular on the twirling or working flags is the poly ball the eagle because of its size and weight should only be used on the american flag or non-twirling flags the first of three types of flag slings used is the waist sling this plastic liner cup adds durability to the sling this is the single sling which is supported by the neck the double sling crosses on the back for maximum support flag slings are a necessity for achieving precision and a uniform appearance [Music] [Laughter] to achieve excellence in the flag line it's very important that we understand the basic manual of arms to doesn't like the smaller reels because the hubs are smaller and the motor starts freaking out and um it's very annoying so uh that was flags part of flags um thanks to uh flag day today um i have a couple of these marching band um flag uh what are they called color guard yeah color guard films and uh one with rifles and then three with flags then there's one on fundraising which is pretty great um so anywho um let's uh let's watch italian children all right let's see i think this is right i have a new piece of equipment i'm playing with so let's do this enjoy [Music] so [Music] foreign [Music] everybody has work to do from mario who helps in the trees down to the youngest in the family it's for nerina and dominico to gather the olives on the ground hey domenico don't be so slow even leona is quicker there's sister angelina calling ankora purely yes they want more olives up there in the shed where mama conti and angelina are sorting them it's a good harvest this year mama thinks they've plenty of ripe brown olives this year and enough willing hands to harvest them but what's domenico doing why he's going off with grand papa to haul a load of olives to the mill [Music] through the village they ride and there above on the hillside is the church where they all go to worship on past the school where leona and domenico will soon be back at their books again and at last to the olive mill domenico always likes to watch the big old stones rolling around crushing the olives to a pulp now they're putting the crushed olives into the press and they start the press to squeezing them squeezing out the rich oil of the olives [Music] but look at grand papa vienna come quickly the day is almost over today is market day mama and the young people are going to the city domenico is guarding the chickens mama takes these in to sell in the marketplace there's the monastery founded by the good saint francis of assisi and these are monks who live in the monastery [Music] good day fathers they say as they pass and now they see the city the beautiful old city of assisi [Music] and into the city streets they go through a great gate in the old city wall [Music] there's the famous church also named for the good saint francis of assisi and here at last is the marketplace on market days like this people come from everywhere round about to buy and to sell their wares now for all the wonderful sites in the marketplace a visit to the city doesn't come every day and there's so much to look at [Music] there are suites to buy and need to drink there are laces and trinkets and wonderful food but mama is busy selling her chickens how much hmm they're not very fat i'll give you 500 leaders only 500 liter no no senor they're worth 800 at least of course mama wants to get the very best price the girls have found a lady doing needlework [Music] she's putting a delicate design on a fine tablecloth ah bellissima how pretty it is mario is visiting an old friend all day long in the marketplace he paints pottery in bright lively colors but now to watch them playing bocce mario can always find the game of bocce going on in the square it's the favorite sport [Music] a good throw right beside the palino [Music] the fountain's a good place to cool off and leona and domenico are tired of running about so they're willing enough when mario says it's time to go [Music] mama kunti has sold her chickens and bought a few things for the family now they're ready to let the little donkey take them back over the long road home [Music] so [Music] [Music] [Music] today mama is making polenta she's just now putting the cornmeal into the pot mama makes polenta almost every day but this this is for a special celebration they're having a festa to celebrate the good harvest of the olives the table is already set out here under the trees [Music] and here come the guests [Music] good friends and neighbors are always glad to see each other and everyone enjoys a festa mama invites them all to the table [Music] ecuador polenta and mama brings it in the great tray of polenta polenta is a kind of cornmeal mush you know often it makes a whole meal by itself but polenta tastes best at [Music] now mama serves a special treat a big dish of spaghetti [Music] and finally to mix the olive oil into the crisp green salad [Music] yes there's always good food and fun at the feast of the olive harvest [Music] so papa place alterella [Music] so the here's the little button that sometimes doesn't get pressed and you're probably screaming skip your mic's not on skip's not your mic's not on anyways lots of new equipment lots of new things um which is why things are a little harried i always you know up my um the amount of things i'm doing during these shows so there's always room for uh me being overwhelmed by technology and that's what just happened with the microphone anyways uh so i have a new web cam which is it you know is it breaking up like i don't know anyways and then also i have this little box here which has little buttons that i can press different buttons and it will bring up different things on obs um so let me know if there's if it's the webcam is dropping frames or if the audio is out of sync or you know let me know but anyways what i was saying before i realized that i was muted um i'm doing some work scanning some ray harryhausen stop-motion animation and we've shown some of these on the past i don't know if we've shown them all all of what i have but um yeah here we go watch and enjoy because we're going to watch all before so here we go [Music] [Applause] [Music] three [Music] once upon a time a little girl lived with her mother in a small stone cottage near the edge of a great forest everywhere the little girl would go she always wore a beautiful red cape and hood soon she became known by everyone as little red riding hood one morning her mother asked her to carry a basket of cookies to her grandmother her mother told her not to leave the path or stop to talk to anyone on the way grandmother lived in a little yellow house at the other edge of the wood and red riding hood would have to hurry to return home before dark after waving goodbye to her mother she set out at once carrying her little yellow basket over her arm at first red riding hood walked straight along the bright forest path but soon near the riverbank she saw a beautiful field of wildflowers they were growing everywhere under the tall green trees she thought it would be great fun to pick a few flowers to surprise her grandmother then she remembered her mother had told her she must not leave the path but the day was so beautiful the forest so friendly and the flowers so colorful that she thought there could be no harm in disobeying her mother just this one time so [Music] the flowers smelled so sweet sweeter than peppermint candy then red riding hood heard a gruff voice say yes they certainly are beautiful flowers she turned and saw the big greedy wolf of the forest standing on top of a rock red riding hood had never seen a wolf before so she was not afraid she thought he was the biggest and most beautiful brown dog she'd ever seen he appeared so friendly too when he spoke to her she didn't know what a wicked animal a wolf could be mr wolfe asked her what she was doing all alone in the forest red riding hood told him she was on her way to her grandmother's house with some fresh cookies and a bouquet of flowers and where does your grandmother live asked the wolf she lives in a small yellow house with a red roof just over the hill well said the wolf good day to you my little girl and he disappeared into the bushes red riding hood was disappointed to see the wolf gold she wanted him to stay longer but it was getting late and it was best that she'd be on her way meanwhile mr wolfe ran slightly through the wood along the path and over the hill until he reached grandmother's house [Music] so [Music] [Applause] [Music] [Applause] [Music] when red riding hood arrived at her grandmother's house she knocked at the door but there was no answer she knocked again and the strange gruff voice said lift the latch and come in it was strange but the bright sunshine of the forest made grandmother's room appear very dark it seemed so dark to red riding hood that she could hardly see her grandmother in bed grandmother looked so different and her voice sounded so deep and rough perhaps granny been ill with no one to look after her oh grandmother how you have changed what long ears you have said little red riding hood all the better to hear you with my dear replied the wolf [Applause] oh but grandmother your nose what a long nose you have all the better to smell with my dear replied the wolf oh grandmother what large eyes you have [Music] all the better to see you with my dear said the wolf and then red riding hood saw clearly his long sharp teeth but granny what great sharp teeth you have all the better to eat you with my dear [Music] [Applause] [Music] grandmother was ever so grateful to see red riding hood safe and sound the brave huntsman was very proud of his trusty old gun grandmother and red riding hood thanked him for killing the wolf and saving their lives the hunter bad them farewell proudly shouldered his gun and marched back along the path to his home in the forest red riding hood was happy to know that the greedy wolf of the forest could never again frighten or harm her so she started cheerfully for home to join her mother where she lived happily ever after [Music] yeah that was kind of cool um so supposedly um ray had set up a studio in his uh garage and he was doing this as he was trying to build his portfolio and prove his skill and trying to get work in hollywood um got another film showing up we're just letting the scanner run behind me you can see um i can't remember which one the next one is is it uh maybe it's story of midas i'm not sure enjoy [Music] once upon a time a long time ago there lived a king named bidus midas was a very rich king but he was not a happy king for with all his treasures of gold and jewels this greedy man still longed for more wealth all day he would think only of gold restless nights as he tossed about on his royal bed he dreamed of more gold he wanted above all else to become the wealthiest man in the world and often he would forget his young daughter marigold whom he truly loved very much and so for long hours little marigold played all alone among the lovely flowers of the spacious palace grounds bright shining yellow flowers were her favorites and she fashioned each day a bouquet of the most perfect of them to put upon the palace tables the choicest flower of the lot was always shared with her father but greedy king midas only sighed and thought uh if only these flowers were real gold instead of merely golden color then they would truly be worth the having but marigold loved the sweet smelling flowers just as they were and she hurried to place them in cool fresh water lest they wilt the bright yellow color of the flowers reminded midas of the golden coins and the treasures hidden deep in his castle dungeon and he worried that perhaps someone had discovered them [Music] here [Music] [Music] hmm [Music] [Music] [Applause] [Music] who are you and how did you get in here cried king midas and great surprise it is of no matter said the stranger but why are you not happy king midas you have more golden treasures and more golden coins than you can possibly count in a day just what is it that will bring you contentment what will satisfy you king midas king might decide i have long dreamed of becoming the richest man in the world i have only one wish i wish that everything i touch would turn to gold then i could be truly happy very well then the stranger said i will grant your wish tomorrow morning at early sunrise you shall have what you desire you shall have the golden touch use it wisely king midas and now farewell [Music] [Applause] [Music] not wanting to go to bed lest he oversleep the king dozed that night in a chair at the head of his dining table at dawn the golden rays of sunlight pierce the palace windows king midas awoke at once eager to test the power of his promised golden touch [Music] at first the king could not believe it possible but when he wrapped upon the chair he knew it to be solid gold then one slight touch of his hand and his throne too turned to glittering gold now king midas knew that as long as he lived he king midas would be the wealthiest man in the world for who could have more gold than he [Music] the golden touch made king midas very happy but as he sat down to eat breakfast marigold came in from the garden with an arm full of golden flowers look father she said sadly what has happened to my lovely flowers they are hard and ugly and have no fragrance at all wonderful my dear said the king they are real gold imagine real gold come now sit down and eat your breakfast king midas was very hungry but as he reached for an egg it turned to gold at his touch and as he picked up the loaf of bread it too turned to gold all this will never do thought the king to himself such a costly breakfast and not a thing to eat he was angry with himself or ever having wished for the golden touch and he was angry at the stranger for having granted his wish it saddens marigold to see her father so troubled she wanted to comfort him but when the old king touched her arm poor little marigold became a statue of rigid gold king midas surrounded by all his golden treasures now knew how all alone he was through his sobs he heard the voice of the stranger well my friend so you have made a discovery midas wept for through his own greediness he had lost the one thing he truly loved which would you rather have midas the precious golden touch or a glass of cool water a glass of cool water cried midas the golden touch or a crust of bread said the stranger a crust of bread answered midas eagerly the golden touch or your daughter oh my child my dear dear child wept minus [Music] very well then if you wish to be relieved of the golden touch wash your hands in the water of the river outside your garden then take a vase of the same water and sprinkle it over anything you wish to change back to its form state remember me and the stranger disappeared king midas lost no time in obeying the stranger's words he reached for an empty pitcher and ran for the river to fill it with the precious water shortly he returned and at once sprinkle it over marigold's head soon all traces of the golden touch were gone and he began to hate the sight of anything made of gold the only gold that he did enjoy was the gold in his little daughter's hair and so we are told they lived happily ever after i love the uh the the little uh or the the devil character some people misastopolis the faustian oops what happened ah lost uh tension again uh anyways what else we got let's start the next one all right and we're back um hmm i can't remember which one this is it might be mother goose or it might be um hansel and gretel i think i think it's cancelling ground enjoy [Music] fairy prince and princess animals that are people enchanted where can they be which is on their broomsticks way up high they sail over big bad wolves on each hill not the hairy housing film fly away to magic lands of fantasy sail to those enchanted lands across the sea there's a land that's far away where folks live happy ever after in a fairy tale [Music] from the brothers grimm the tale of hansel and gretel once upon a time at the edge of a great forest there stood a cabin that belonged to a poor woodcutter he lived with his two children a boy and a girl whom he dearly loved and with the children's stepmother who had no love for the children at all one night the boy hansel tried to awaken his sister gretel he could overhear his father saying that there was not enough food for them all to eat oh what's to become of us we had little enough to eat before now with this famine in our land how are we going to feed the children we no longer have enough for ourselves listen to me tomorrow we will take both the children into the wildest part of the forest and give each a bit of bread then we will return home and leave them there for good [Music] the poor woodcutter had no choice early the next morning hansel stole out to the clearing which was dotted with many shiny pebbles and began stuffing them into his pockets anto yes what are you doing um nothing wake up your lazy sister we're going to fetch firewood soon they all set out together into the forest as they walked hansel secretly dropped one shiny pebble after another along the path [Applause] [Music] [Applause] [Music] later as the sound of the woodcutter's axe echoed through the middle of the forest hansel and gretel played happily they had eaten their little bit of bread and now we're alone except for a curious rabbit who'd never seen children before the children didn't know they were alone they thought their father was nearby chopping wood [Music] that sound though was not an axe but only a branch the woodcutter had tied to a dead tree all day long the wind blew it to and fro when night came gretel grew frightened and began to cry she wondered how they'd ever get out of the forest hansel comforted her don't cry gretel when the moon comes out we'll find her way back home later when the moon had risen silvery moonbeams danced upon the shiny pebbles that hansel had dropped along the way the pebbles glistened like newly minted silver coins hansel took his little sister by the hand and followed the pebbles that pointed the way soon they were out of the forest and racing along a familiar ledge that led to home the children's father who had worried about them from the start was the first to hear them coming hansel grantham all were happy except the woodcutter's wife she was determined to get rid of the children early the next morning she awakened them but gave hansel no time to go out and gather pebbles she said they were leaving immediately for a picnic in the woods her plan was to take the children even deeper into the forest then leave them there [Applause] having no pebbles hansel broke little bits of bread from the small piece he had received and dropped them along the path unaware that birds were following close behind eating the crumbs that night hansel and gretel found themselves alone in a strange part of the forest the woodcutter and his wife had left once again the children waited for the moon to rise thinking that they would be able to see the breadcrumbs hansel had dropped the breadcrumbs i had to show the path are gone i'll never be able to find our way home [Music] don't cry we'll find our way back home gretel you'll see but they couldn't find it a snake no just a branch all night long and into the next day they walked then when they thought they could scarcely take another step is that a house let's go and see it was a house a house such as they had never seen it was made of cake the walls and roof were covered with whipped cream and candy the door was made of spun sugar lemonade leaped from a fountain hansel and gretel were so hungry that hansel broke off a bit of the roof to eat while gretel plucked a giant lollipop is that a mouse who eats my house hmm we're awfully sorry we didn't mean to eat your house but we're so hungry four days all alone in the forest please come eat with me why thank you we'd love to you're very kind but the old woman was only pretending to be kind her red eyes showed that she was really a wicked witch who lay in wait for children [Music] they're all alike they can't resist this house in the morning i'll toss the boy into the cage and start fattening him up he'll make a tasty morsel [Music] now hunsle knew the old woman was really a witch but it was too late gretel was put to work and ordered to do whatever was necessary to fatten up her brother that's more water and cook up something to make hunter fat gretel wept silent tears in vain she had to do as the witch ordered each morning the witch came to check on hansel stick out your finger so i can feel if you'll soon be fat but instead the clever boy stuck out a bone knowing the witch was nearsighted i simply can't understand it you're still as skinny as a bone after four weeks of this the witch's patience was exhausted i won't wait another day gretel make a fire we're going to bake [Music] gretel started a fire in the oven tears spilling down her cheeks for she knew the witch was planning not to bake bread but her brother and her crawl inside and see if it's hot enough to bake bread but i don't know how to crawl inside stupid goose the opening is big enough why it's big enough for me to get in there look see saw very well this is exactly what she had [Music] planned what have you done [Music] quick as they could the children ran from the witch's cottage toward the warm sunshine [Music] soon they reached a wide stream with no bridge across it but a helpful swan told them that if they would climb on his back he would take them where they wanted to go [Music] in time hansel and gretel found themselves on the familiar ledge near their house imagine how happy they were after weeks away to be home [Music] father we're back father the poor woodcutter had not spent a happy moment since leaving the children in the forest your stepmother died last week children we three will never be separated again it was good to be together again hansel and gretel remained by their father's side forever after their days were filled with laughter and laughter made their simple house more magic than a house made of cake [Music] so according to my notes like in the can this is ray harryhausen film and on the outside of the can it wrote harryhausen but that wasn't a hairy housing film but the last one i do have is a harry house in film so we will watch that um yeah so harryhausen did special effects for lots of great films i love his 50s films of course his sinbad stuff is really good too um it's just really amazing i mean it has a more warm feel to it in my mind than uh cgi and uh got just that skeleton fight and um just so good anyways this last one is mother goose enjoy [Music] my [Music] uh [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] so [Music] me [Music] [Music] dang it that's frustrating oh yeah the uh there wasn't enough leader on the end so a lot of tension all right um yeah uh speaking of flags where is it [Music] [Music] put your right hand over your heart [Music] a republic for which you stand one nation under god indivisible with [Music] allegiance to the flag of the united states of america and to the republic for which it stands one nation under god indivisible with liberty and justice for all [Music] [Music] [Music] me i pledge allegiance to the flag of the united states of america and to the republic for which it stands one nation under god indivisible with liberty and justice for all [Music] one nation under god he is invisible liberty [Music] hey all right um jay north uh you might know him from dennis the menace uh and i feel like he did bam bam i could be wrong though let me look that up i'm gonna look that up while we're talking on the old uh webcam um hey if you like what you saw or at least were intrigued by what you saw uh please feel free to donate uh to us uh some coffee uh that money also goes towards buying things like tape or little cores or reels or little stickers that say uh electronically inspected um you can also hit the thumbs up button um looking up jay north on the internet movie database um and what voice did he do he did bam bam yes i was right he did voice for bam bam um as a teenager i feel like sally strothers did yeah did uh pebbles so there you go there's what i know about um voice actors uh you can also hit the thumbs up button and the like button and the subscribe button all those ways are ways to say hey in spite of all the technical problems um skip does an
