[Music] [Music] [Music] and the school day is always [Music] get up and go [Music] look out here [Music] [Applause] no matter what happens is [Music] remember last week when we all went out with uncle smiley on the boat ride i'll say that sure was some fun all right but it wasn't just a regular boat ride yeah we'd all been on boats before but this time was really special because the people in our town were all getting together to clean up the river [Music] there's the first mate right there and there's the captain too boy they sure knew a lot about boats and water and things [Music] hey watch this here comes uncle smiley running down the pier with all our life jackets and stuff [Music] i guess he wanted to make sure the life jackets worked all right yeah a life preserver that won't flower isn't much good [Music] i guess the first mate wanted to test them too the captain was nice but he didn't laugh very much [Music] [Applause] [Music] [Applause] [Music] all aboard the captain roar time to clean the river all the way let's start the day we're off to clean the river [Music] is the river used to be a place where you could sway but now you wouldn't let the water touch your skin see the shore it used to be a place where flowers [Music] it's time to save we finally joined up with the other people from the town they were already busy cleaning up the trash along the shore the captain told us the best places to start cleaning and we got to work [Music] there was all kinds of stuff along the shore rusty cans and boards with nails and broken bottles and even pieces of old cars and boats some of this stuff was so big and heavy you couldn't even carry it all by yourself i wonder how some of that stuff got there in the first place [Music] there was junk and trash everywhere [Music] we put everything we found in big giant piles so that when the men came by in the trucks later they wouldn't have any trouble picking it up if i were a fish swimming in the deeper sea if i were a fish swimming in the deeply sea if i were a fish you see i'd tell anyone of what i see in the deep [Music] you know lots of people still can't understand why we're so worried about the river they ought to take a boat ride sometime like we did everybody's just been dumping trash and things in the rivers and thinking it would all just go away but it doesn't go away it just fills up the rivers and kills all the plants and fish the captain told us that pretty soon there might not be any fish left alive anywhere in the world even in the oceans fish are pretty i like fishing [Music] it really is a crying shame what's happened to the river it doesn't matter who's to blame it's time to save [Music] things were really going well until uncle started goofing up again yeah he never looked what he was doing with that old inner tube the captain really liked that [Music] but even that was nothing to when he kicked over the oil can [Music] [Applause] [Music] boy was the captain mad this time everybody knows oil is one of the things that pollutes rivers and oceans the most well he made uncle smiley and us clean up every drop of oil from the deck before it spilled into the water [Music] river [Applause] that's our uncle smiley [Music] you bet it is so [Music] hi everybody i'm skip alzheimer uh and i'm anti-fascist uh i am of av geeks really it should go without saying that we are anti-fascist here at av geeks but i just wanted to put it on the record anyways that's that's all i'm gonna say about current events um a lot of anguish a lot of sadness a lot of fear and this is our hour to kind of look to the past to comment on the past make fun of the past and try to keep things nostalgic and use our our hindsight to uh comment on the past [Music] anyways i've been doing this since march uh welcome june please give us a break um this film is about a mother who takes care of baby skunks a mother cat who takes care of baby skunks enjoy [Applause] cat rex the farm dog lived there too [Music] mother cat had a cozy home in a big box for her new kittens [Music] this kitten is blackie and this little fellow is puff [Music] rex often went to the box to watch the kittens play they were a happy family mother cat took good care of them all this farm was a pleasant place to live [Music] one day when it was sunny and warm in the box and the kittens were well groomed and fed mother cat jumped out of her box to go to the forest nearby to look for mice mother cat liked to go to the forest hunting mice the forest was quite different from the farm the opossum lived in the forest and the porcupine hunted for his food there [Music] a mother fox was looking for her food but her baby fox was just having fun the owl had been hunting all night and now ready for a nap but the hawk was hungry he was looking for food down below he saw three baby skunks all alone they had lost their mother the day before what a good breakfast for a hungry hawk when a hawk gets hungry he looks for small animals to eat baby skunks for instance but a mother cat was too big for him could she help the baby skunks could she save them from the hawk [Music] mother cat had never seen baby skunks before but somehow she sensed that they were hungry and frightened [Music] so she tried to pick one up by the neck the way cats carry their own babies up there the hawk was waiting for mother cat to give up but mother cat tried again and again maybe they'd follow her she'll lead the way to her home where they would be safe [Music] this friendly furry cat was so much like their own mother that the baby skunks followed her all the way home and so it happened that three baby skunks came to live on the farm with a mother cat they were hungry too it was so good to have warm mother's milk again puff was not quite sure whether he liked the new family [Music] but mother cat liked them all she had enough milk for everyone after dinner mother cat gave the whole family a good scrubbing she licked the little skunks to get them clean and she licked the kittens especially puff her own kittens and her adopted babies got the same loving care [Music] they were brothers and sisters now so the little kittens made friends with the baby skunks when their stomachs were full and they'd all had the bath they settled down for a nice long nap [Music] after the nap they were ready for play at first they were a bit quiet and shy [Music] mother cat watched patiently while they began to get acquainted they soon learned a lot about each other how they smelled and how they looked about this time rex's fine nose had detected a new scent so he came to investigate there was mother cat and her new family the new members of her family certainly didn't look like kittens but if mother cat liked them rex would be friendly and treat them all alike [Music] time passed quickly as they grew older blackie was the first to climb out of the box it took sandy a little longer to get out because his legs were not very strong yet [Music] but he made it one of the baby skunks quickly learned that he could climb too puff tried several times but he had to practice some more and grow a little before he would be able to get out by himself one day sometime later while mother cat had taken her kittens out for a tree climbing lesson the little skunks remained alone in their box soon they got tired of playing alone one by one they wandered out of their box they strolled across the yard past the watchdog and out onto the dirt road [Music] in a short while the three baby skunks found themselves in the forest the forest is the real home of skunks it seems such a fine place to play so much bigger than the barnyard [Music] in the barnyard they had never seen the brook and they had not learned an important lesson for all forest creatures to be always on the alert there was the sleepy owl would he harm them not if he had had his dinner the baby skunks knew nothing about the danger of the forest merrily one of them ventured out into the water the rocks were slippery and the baby skunk slid off he got his tail wet and he got his feet wet but he didn't seem to care soon he led the way for a new adventure he found plants and leaves that he had never seen before the baby skunk spotted a baby fox and the fox spotted the skunk perhaps he would like to play but no he ran away so the little skunk went back to find his brothers meanwhile mother cat and rex were back at the farm the baby skunks had gone away mother cat saw the hawk flying overhead rex saw it too mother cat hurried off to look for her little ones who were having such a good time they didn't look up to see the hungry hawk [Music] mother cat hurried her young ones were in danger what a good meal one of the little skunks would make for a hungry hawk [Music] mother cat looked and looked her little skunks couldn't be too far away she had to find them or the hawk would surely swoop down the owl seemed to be waiting to see who would win this time mother cat turned toward the brook and out there she funks they had been naughty they'd gone a long way from the barnyard when they were still too small to take care of themselves [Music] the hawk was very very angry he had lost a good meal again [Music] once more mother cat led the way home this time the little skunks followed her readily art [Music] soon the whole family was together again it was a prudent happy family two different kinds of young animals found love in the same home and to mother cat it really didn't matter whether the babies were kittens or skunks she took good care of them all [Music] so sweet um yeah that's that's such a great uh great film um this next film is uh features dick york uh we're gonna have a dick york-a-thon i'm gonna show two dick york films he showed up in educational films oh wait who's dick york um darren from bewitched uh he was in inherit the wind he was in other things but anyways you'll recognize when you see him in this one he is a shy guy enjoy [Music] in class not so bad but when school's out and the others go off to enjoy themselves well if you're what they call a shy guy that's when you really feel the awful alone people like you and you find yourself holding a grudge against them you're standing on the outside looking in you might have something to contribute to their conversation but nobody cares whether you do or not there's a barrier and you don't know how to begin breaking it down you imagine they keep watching the way you look the way you act they think you're different so you're head for home what else but still you can't forget that you're alone an outsider hello phil how's everything okay i guess dad and how's your record transmitter microphone coming all right i guess i know it isn't either i can't figure out where to connect in the oscillator i know i have to connect it into the amplifier but where it just doesn't fit in why not call the store and get more information and by the way how things going in school oh okay dad but school here isn't like it was back in morristown well you know son maybe school is like your radio this oscillator will do its work well but as you said you still have to fit it in and work with all the other parts i know what you're driving at dad but i don't think i ever will fit in not here i'm different from the guys in this town well as far as that goes phil everybody's different that's what makes people interesting maybe you know when we moved here this summer i had quite a time making friends in a new office where everybody else knew each other what'd you do there well that's beside the point son what works for one doesn't necessarily work for another but i bet the other men didn't look at your clothes all the time well what makes you think they'll look at your clothes oh because the other fellas wear sweaters or just shirts not a regular suit like mine well wear a sweater then the clothes alone won't phil what about the other fellas what do they do what are they like gosh dad i don't know i never noticed only i know it's not radios perhaps that's the reason you don't know you don't notice what the others are interested in why not try to find out how dad well you might try watching listening pick out the most popular boys and girls in school keep an eye on them try to figure out why people like them not that you'll ever be just like any of them but you might learn something well see you there well there's an idea maybe a good idea worth a try anyway and tomorrow is not too soon to start pick out the most popular boys and girls in school and keep an eye on them who are they now some of them are right here in this class andy mcintyre for instance people like him all right chick gallagher rates high in popularity too there's jane davenport she's popular with boys and girls and jack gilbert what's he got that makes people like him so much [Music] [Applause] andy's got something to say and jack's listening he really seems interested come to think of it jack's always interested in what people are talking about maybe that's why he hits it off so well with everybody anyhow andy thinks he's a great guy no that's too easy just listening but what's this sounds like jane's caught under the same thing she's listening hearing about helen's collection of menus and liking it that makes her kingpin with helen maybe there is something in this business of being a good listener but still there must be more to getting along with people than just wearing a sweater and listening what's the matter bob handle stuck yeah i can't get it open here let me try trick to some of these there jeez thanks a lot chick now why didn't you think of that chicks always doing things for people and it pays off in friends well that sure is one tough history of something we have for friday wish i could find some good outside reading material i found a small book that covers everything miss carson wants us to know it's called the uh last days of monarchism by henry daryl you can get it at the library i'm sure glad you told me about it i'll get it this afternoon thanks a lot it's okay chick you dope you knew about that book you could have been the guy that helped the guy well get going gotta stop by the drugstore there it is again even when you bump into people they hardly know you're alive you're alone bud alone in the crowd but keep looking around try to find out what the score is look at jack and beezy over there girls seem to like them why what's the angle they do it kind of polite at least they seat the girls and give their artist to the waiter they aren't loud like some of the guys double chocolate cherry coke chocolate cold milk shake and mullet double chop them all right okay i got it excuse me please i've got the orders from my table uh just helping out during rush hour bob gee thanks a lot that's swelling okay bobby hey girlfriend is chick being helpful again i can't quite decide what happens hey don't tell me you two are still talking clothes was this a plot to squelch all males present [Music] [Music] need some support to run down this girly's chat hey you want to walk don't you yo bob the topic on discussion is the mixer next for a night at school you're going aren't you i don't know chick i haven't got a date yet well grab yourself a girl and come along it's not gonna be a real party just a class game together for some fun so i'd like to chick yeah i sure would yeah sure would be something to take mary lou to the mixer i wonder if she already has a date well how's the oscillator coming along hi dad oh i haven't quite got it working yet but you know that other business we were talking about well i've been following your advice how about it find out anything yeah dad i think i did it looks like people will get along best with other people or well the people who think about the other guy they make a point of listening to what others have to say and watching for ways to do things for them being polite toward them do you suppose it's sort of a case of thinking so much about other people that you don't have much time to worry about yourself well perhaps that's right maybe the best way to find out is to try it next chance you get you know dad there's a mixer friday night i wasn't going to go but in the drug store the other day chick said i ought to come good idea phil well dad there is a girl i'd like to take mary lou wright but i'm not sure she'd go with me never even talk to her i'd probably fall all over myself besides she's popular she's probably got a date by now well it is pretty late to ask a girl why don't you just go stag you needn't worry about doing anything wrong phil you act alright just do and say whatever seems most natural well dad maybe maybe it will be easier after i've had a chance to talk to her at the mixer you know what i kind of think this is going to fit in after all [Music] well this is it sink or swim [Music] oh oh there's mary lou she did come with another guy easy barnes what now [Music] we're breaking up the piano game listening first to one boy than another it's by the way people flock around a good listener but what's this they're talking about radios it's right down your alley they're asking peasy about penny stock you know the answer to that when you could tell them but she just a butt in he's he's still stuck he really needs help help that's it an offer of help that's welcome anywhere it's not hard to fit yourself into a conversation a mention of a similar problem in connection with the record player they're interested in that record player they are interested in that shy guy they know he's alive now and strangely enough he's just discovered that they're alive of course they'd like to see the record player of course they'll come over tomorrow afternoon i just have to do a little more soldering and connect the oscillator into the amplifier and everything will fit in oh phil could you have it ready by next week and bring it over to my house i guess so some of the gang's coming over thursday night we could have a lot of fun with it you will come won't you well one shy guy is on his way not that his worries are over he'll still have his moments of doubt of hesitation or fear that he might do something wrong but he can face these problems now because he knows that he's not really different and while he's discovered only a few of many ways to overcome shyness he's discovered that it can be done and that's the main thing isn't it [Music] what was phil working on it was i it's hard to microphone like the dad says it's a microphone and and it's all over the place um anyways it's a great film um it was an early coronet film cornet educational film company based near chicago suburb of chicago started by david smart who owned coronet magazine and gq and a bunch he was a publishing guy and uh he realized that educational films were post-world war two were a great way to get information across he saw that there was a lot of surplus film projectors being donated to schools and he thought that this was an opportunity to start a business that did very very well and some of you noticed that yes mike wallace was the narrator um and dick york is why we showed this dick york was uh the first um darren stevens on bewitched and because of a painkiller problem addiction he got replaced by dick sargent who was not nearly as good in my mind not nearly as good um we're going to follow up this with uh a film that i showed last week was called tina side and this film uh refers to tinacy and features dick york as a speed excuse me there's a speed demon um who is very self-assured and is the opposite of the shy guy that we just saw so here's last date enjoy [Music] [Music] [Music] dear margo they finally released me from the hospital and now i'm home again but in a way i almost wish i had died in there would have been easier perhaps when i think what happened to nick and well i can look for my window and and see all the rest of the game having fun old having fun but i i've had my last date who would want to go off with me now not even larry some of the fault was mine i know and yet it all started so innocently the day of the big football game [Music] andersonville i was playing the moosehart team that day and both larry and nick were wonderful nick made two touchdowns himself oh it was terribly exciting but then after the game when kathy robbins she's my best friend and i were waiting outside the stadium dressing room for nick and larry she made me think a little by something she said oh wasn't he wonderful kathy who knits oh yes he's quite a flash but did you notice who ran interference for him larry your other boyfriend remember he did of course i should have known but they're both so what's the problem to decide which one i like the best gee i wish i had that kind of a problem which one of my gonna let take you home genie oh i don't know i haven't decided of course nick has a hot rod car his father gave him last week sure is snazzy yes but the way he drives nick's a good driver why his own father showed him how of course he may be a little reckless well i wouldn't ride with him for all the tea in china tea doesn't come from china silly it comes from ceylon or somewhere yes i was rather sure of myself that day it was wonderful to have my choice between the two most popular boys in school and then larry and nick came out and i was faced with a decision i like them both about the same how'd you like the game genie i was super nick you were wonderful especially behind the interference you had don't think i don't appreciate it larry here did a swell job of more of them no they weren't too tough well from where we said it looked as though you were opening up holes big enough to drive a truck through hey that reminds me how would you all like to take a ride in my new monster my dad gave it to me last week it's really a souped-up hot rod do better 90 without even half trying oh i'd love that but gene i thought we'd let us i thought we were going to well anyway i can't join you i have a family car here and i have to take it home you better count me out too i've had one ride with this candidate for tina side i don't think i could stand another one candidate for what genocide don't you ever listen to dan bacon the disc jockey on the radio he talks about it all the time he calls it the fine art of killing yourself before you're at 20. you do it with an automobile he says all you have to do is treat everyone else on the road like an unwanted relative or a mother-in-law forget all you've ever learned about being polite and considerate to others and you'll make it that's what the man says and i believe him come on larry take me home huh come on kids bye bye yeah now what do you suppose got into her tina side that's a lot of nonsense besides my old man taught me how to drive gotta see the way he can wheel a car around never had an accident yet it's only been arrested three times how beautiful shall we be off into the wild blue yonder come on i'll give you a real ride it was a real ride all right we went the long way out along the turnpike we went fast [Music] by the time we got to my house i was windblown and almost exhausted because the way nick drove was well pretty frightening steal it was thrilling too nick wanted a date for that evening to go dancing at the lake but i turned him down somehow i felt uneasy about riding with him at night he didn't take it very well he was angry as he went away and then as i started into the house i got a big surprise larry was sitting on our porch swing waiting for me mary what in the world are you doing here i had to talk to you gene and well your mother said i could wait for you and then stay for dinner where have you been nick and i took the long way home he's a terrific driver i see sit down for a minute all right no what was it that you wanted to talk to me about that's so important well look you remember what kathy told us about tina's side this afternoon yes i remember nick thought it was pretty silly yes i expected he would and that's what i want to talk to you about gene i wish you wouldn't ride in that hot rod of knicks i mean the way he drives it's dangerous now just a minute mr larry gray i think you're jealous that's all how possessive can a man be you don't own me no i don't but i hope to someday and i want you all in one piece look i'm not a square or a killjoy you know that and if i wanted to i could drive faster and crazier than nick or any other hot rod guy in the world but it's plain stupid for my money to risk your own life and the lives of a lot of other people just to show off the fact that you can operate a car any kid can drive an automobile what's so special about it i'm sorry it's just that i like you so much that i don't want anything to happen to you all right children dinner's ready yes it almost turned into a coral but i was really touched by larry's concern about me and more than that i had another feeling he was sweet so after dinner larry went home to change his clothes i had agreed to go with him to the lake for a few dances at the casino i put on my prettiest dress oh it was a lovely evening and somehow larry looked awfully handsome more so than i'd ever seen him before oh it was nice to know someone cared so much about me certainly was a lot different riding with larry than it had been with nick you drive like a slow poke you ought to take lessons from nick he really goes yeah i know i've seen him [Music] oh hurry up you can beat that red light maybe but maybe somebody else on the side street is trying to beat it too [Music] why don't you pass that car ahead of us because darling i don't want to go over the speed limit oh for goodness sakes we'll never get to the lake at this rate [Music] lovely music isn't it [Music] going to be a nice night too moon and everything and now we bring you that man who spins platters while he chins and chatters dan bacon good evening that's the disc jacket kathy was talking about this afternoon the eggs i hope i've got a lot of selected twists tonight but before we start i want a word with any of you teenage ladies and gentlemen who may be listening you're all such nice kids but tell me are you still alive you are good then you haven't committed tina side yet have you what is tina side well i've said it before and i'll say it again teen aside is the fine art of killing yourself and maybe somebody else before you reach the age of 20. you do it with an automobile it's easy really all you have to do he's corny besides i think you knew he was going to be on that station so you deliberately oh i'm sick and tired of hearing about this tina side thing hurry up will you the dance will be over before we get there but larry didn't hurry he stayed strictly within the speed limit oh i suppose i was pretty unreasonable about the whole thing but to me then it seemed like much ado about nothing at all when we got to the lake casino i stopped being mad hearing the music i wanted to dance and have fun [Music] [Music] oh larry's a marvelous dancer and i was glad we'd gone there he was a darling he even tried to kiss me while we were dancing but suddenly i opened my eyes and there wasn't it pardon me may i cut in hi nick didn't expect to see you here oh i expect you didn't may i have a dance with your girl who was sure if she's willing but just one dance mister that's all i want one dance nick was curious with me why had i refused a date with him and then gone out with mary i didn't have any excuse but his attitude made me miserable the whole evening was spoiled after a while though he got over his net a little and and finally we made up and all was forgiven come and take a little ride around the lake oh i couldn't do that larry's waiting to dance with me he's over there talking to a bunch of the guys on the team they only take about 15 minutes we'll never even miss you well i feel i did owe nick some consideration for having gone off with larry instead of him and on him thought i agreed to take a short ride that's more than 15 minutes not more than 15 minutes [Music] please don't drive quite as fast as you did this afternoon nikki what's the matter you've been listening to that tina side nonsense some more i've been driving since i was 12 years old like i told you my father taught me all the tricks be careful nick don't worry there's nothing to it watch this just give him the horn make him get out of the way there wasn't any doubt that me how to handle a car but i couldn't help remembering something aside is the fine art of killing yourself and maybe somebody else before you reach the age of 20. you do it with an automobile it's easy really do you have to take corners on two wheels why not two wheels are better than none that's what my old man always says please nicky if the second red light you run oh those things are for all women and scaredy cats i know what i'm doing why don't you let that cop behind you pass us we're in no hurry i'm always in a hurry honey always in a hurry watch me make this baby walk away from them penicide is the fine art of killing yourself and maybe somebody else before you reach the age of 20. you do it with an automobile penicide dinosaur tenacide genocide genocide penicide genocide [Music] my face my face so you see it would have been better if i had died in the hospital than to look the way i do i couldn't even go to nick's funeral or the funerals of all those people in the other car a nice as i said before i've had my last date [Music] huh [Music] um excellent film and kemper i believe also did the uh film that we showed last week that mentioned tina side a little short um traffic safety film all right uh let's bounce ahead to the 80s or late 70s at the very least uh this is a cintron film and this features not only a soundtrack from jim stringer the guy who did shake hands with danger but it also has narration by charles father the guy who does the narration and singing for shake hands with danger this is called office safety the thrill seekers [Music] if you're like most office workers you probably don't give a lot of thought to your safety on the job this is understandable after all an office job doesn't seem to present as many possibilities for serious accidents as some other occupations [Music] [Applause] yes the fact is an office job just doesn't seem all that hazardous and that's a problem you see some people enjoy living dangerously they crave the excitement that an occasional accident creates for these people we'll call them thrill seekers an office job just seems too safe perhaps that's why they make such a concentrated effort to break all the safety rules [Music] [Applause] take a simple desk drawer for example the safety rule here is of course close the drawer as soon as you're finished using it but true thrill seekers are not afraid to ignore this simple rule and thereby break their usual office routine if not a leg file cabinets can be used to stir up some excitement too you probably use the handle to open and close a drawer because you think it's the safe thing to do and of course you're right some workers however prefer to add an element of danger to this routine task by making it a test of their hand speed they just grip the drawer over the edge and give it a healthy shove of course only dedicated thrill seekers will try their hands at this sport [Music] athletic thrill-seekers sometimes participate in a more advanced form of file cabinet competition they simply open more than one upper drawer of a top-heavy cabinet and then try to hop out of the way when the thing falls over supply cabinets offer some thrilling possibilities as well normally office workers find their visit to the supply cabinet to be a dreadfully safe and uneventful experience that's because safety promoters insist that all materials be stored inside the cabinet but office thrill seekers have learned that storing a few things on top of the cabinet makes the quest for a box of staples much more challenging they're the people who believe that a man's reach should always exceed his grasp [Music] it's a masochistic belief at best the thrill seekers enthusiasm for taking chances is especially evident whenever things have to be lifted or moved about the office of course sensible workers never try to lift more than they can easily carry and when lifting they keep their back straight and their head up letting their legs do most of the work thrill seekers though are rarely concerned with proper technique [Music] and too impatient to let the maintenance crew handle those really heavy items perhaps these facts explain that peculiar posture displayed by so many office thrill-seekers if you're a safety-minded person you probably use a stool or step ladder to reach high shelves it is after all the safe thing to do office thrill seekers on the other hand employ more adventuresome methods of elevation one can only marvel at their willingness to risk life and limb in their quest for excitement creative thrill-seekers find ways to inject an element of danger into all kinds of ordinarily safe office routines for example there are probably few activities in life safer than sitting properly at a desk safe but hardly a thrill a minute so the thrill seeker prefers to perch on the edge of the chair thus rendering the active sitting significantly more hazardous those who have mastered this front flop technique without serious injury usually move on to a more advanced and dangerous maneuver the thrilling back flip from the supine position have found a simple way to make their comings and goings more exciting they come and go faster true running to that important meeting isn't as safe as walking but it's certainly good exercise plus running enables thrill seekers to make a striking impression on their associates especially at those blind corners you've probably noticed that there's little excitement in maintaining safe uncluttered aisles and walkways office thrill seekers have noticed this too and that's why they did light in transforming those aisles and walkways into a hazardous obstacle course [Music] they employ all kinds of items for this purpose telephone and electric cords a strategically placed purse or briefcase even beverage spills which of course they never bother to wipe up [Music] here their beverage spills litter and pencils can make for a truly memorable business trip especially for those who fail to use the hand rail like stairways those solid doors found in most offices offer significant potential for excitement experience has taught you to approach such doors with caution and to grasp the handle before getting in front of the door then if someone opens the door suddenly you can easily avoid being struck this is important because office thrill seekers make it a point to shove every door open with as much force as possible they get a kick out of teaching others just how dangerous a door can be one of the hallmarks of office thrill seekers is their careless disregard of even the most elementary safety rules including those dealing with fire prevention hence more serious-minded workers should always be alert and ready to take corrective action it's also wise to know where fire extinguishers are located and how to use them another distinguishing characteristic of thrill seekers is their devil may care attitude toward office equipment while safety-minded workers heed those warnings to be careful and avoid distractions when using a paper cutter how about how about like thrill seekers prefer to live dangerously effect which may account for the uncommon shortness of their neckwear and or fingers [Music] of course sensible workers are especially careful with electrical equipment they unplug and report any electrical device that develops a short circuit or other malfunction thrill seekers on the other hand refuse to be intimidated by a few frayed wires sparks or tingling sensations instead they regard any sudden surge of electricity as a small price to pay for a more exciting life if you have any co-workers who show signs of being thrill seekers enjoy their company while you can after all they tend to be a vanishing breed [Music] [Applause] [Music] sorry i got caught up in all the people
