foreign hi everybody I'm skip Alzheimer welcome to the AV Geeks lunchtime streaming show where we watch old 16 millimeter films and that will was from the Mogul Brothers collection via the Oregon archive and um that was mask making uh which was kind of cool I I dig mask like that like kind of these over the top um kind of grotesques uh because I certainly have made some in the past for either classes that I took or for uh projects that I did with my band Etc so there's a special place in my heart for that okay so what we're going to do today uh we have two long programs uh but I don't think you'll be disappointed uh the first one we're gonna try is I'm going to try to show another film from that series of sci-fi films sorry Nathan um this one is great and this is one that traumatized some kids uh back in the day uh so much so that they asked me as adults the name of the film and if I had it so this is change the title All Summer in a Day which is a Ray Bradbury story about nothing happened to us last time right we're still here right okay I think you're doing can you hear it it's letting up no it's not besides Mrs Callahan put me in charge she told me to make sure everyone goes under the lamps and that includes you but the sun's coming out today so what so we don't need them yes we do we always need them we'll not when we have the sun don't you know what the sun does yes I know what the sun does but that doesn't mean that you don't have to go into the lands just like everybody else you think you're special just because you're born on Earth [Music] what is it William what is it that can't wait till I get to class Marco won't go under the lamps but why not Martha this is Callahan today I want to wait for the real son I want to talk to you for a moment Margo will the rest of you get ready for class you've got a lot to do before the big event Alone William can't believe it's really gonna happen I go I know how much you've been looking forward to this but don't let your hopes get too high you know sometimes nature can be fickle it's been nine years since the sun paid its last visit and then it was only for an hour well I don't care if it's only for a minute I understand how you feel but you still must go under the land do I have to yeah insist there you go just like the real son oh it's not because I remember no you don't nobody remembers I do foreign [Music] I want you all to look at this Margo tell everyone about your painting well I tried to make it how it looked when I lived on Earth in Ohio it was said all the time I can still see it but I just can't paint it right how lucky you are lived on earth long enough to remember the Sun so vividly now we have to keep our fingers crossed for the rain to stop and for our sun to shine on our planet so that we have lovely memories too thank you [Music] just like the Earth we're the only plant that can sustain life in our solar system because our sun is close enough to keep us warm hmm Paula um I said it's mostly made of hydrogen and helium and the center of it rises to 20 000 degrees and again call a counter zeros oh 20 million decrees no I don't think so Paul according to my calculations is exactly 20 301 000 degrees Paula what would we do without Michael William it's your turn what we were talking about the Sun oh yeah uh the sun is made of two gases one is hydrogen Margo hey I'm not done William you know you're supposed to contribute something new about the Sun and not repeat what has already been said now please pay attention Margo the sun is like a flower that blooms for just one hour and fills our worlds with light and leaves us feeling bright oh that's lovely Marco did you ride it yeah it's a poem just lovely [Music] Erica do you want to take a look outside thanks [Music] oh doesn't look like it's gonna stop matter of fact looks to me like it's coming down even harder right Michael oh yeah precisely 1.5 times harder than it was an hour ago but we still have almost two hours well I say it's not gonna stop I say the sun's not gonna come out at all William why do you hate me so much because you're such a mortal oh you may have Mrs Callahan but right children I want you to pay attention this is very important open up your sun kit and take out this green visor and I want you to wear this visor at all times now put it on your heads come on very good now do you all have this green tube in your kit this cream will protect our skin from the harmful rays of the Sun Williams would you please put on your thank you all right now take the top off of me too apply it generously to the palm of your hand rub it in everyone doing that put it on your face Miss Callahan your neck Italian what is it William I'd say this but I don't think we're going to be needing any of this junk that may be true William but if the sun comes out what do you mean if don't you believe it's gonna happen don't you no she doesn't well I don't care what anybody thinks well Michael I [Music] think how do you feel now Big Shot I guess the scientists were wrong this time what do we do now I don't know I I hadn't planned any other activities [Music] foreign [Music] [Music] [Music] [Applause] I'm sorry Margo I really am Paula I just wish you could have seen it what's all that oh just stuff from what I lived on earth is that a butterfly uh-huh it's a matter I've never seen a real one before you need this one to help what's that a flower I made a wonderful flower my mom used to grow hundreds of them in our backyard Marco what's it like when the sun comes out well the clouds separate and there's music from the birds and crickets and you feel like running and spinning till you're dizzy and it's hard to catch your breath it is because you're so happy [Music] Margo do you ever wish you could go back sometimes but not now I wish I could have seen it the way it used to be it's too crowded there now can you hear it what this is stopping it's show that I did the 16 millimeter sci-fi School shorts um and everybody's like oh so I get it all right so what can I do to make it up to you uh this might run a little long but uh as I've been saying like we've been scanning films uh for collectors and other folks other archives uh and uh one of the people we've been doing it for is Craig Baldwin and as I said he's being honored in San Francisco this weekend I believe um and he sent us a reel that was probably one of his shows called musical Oddities uh and so we're gonna watch this and hopefully we won't get kicked off uh but it's it's pretty great uh so a big fan of Craig's programming uh and so this is I'm gonna give him all the credit for this uh so here's musical Craig Baldwin's musical Oddities enjoy [Music] I would like to
