hello everybody I'm skip Alzheimer welcome to the avgeeks lunchtime streaming show where we watch old 16 mimer films and it's Friday I'm still not in the archive I'm actually in atoria New York uh attending the orphans Film Symposium and uh kind of an interesting thing happened today so yesterday I showed a bunch of uh uh basically uh IBM commercials for a variety of different products including electric typewriters but in this like portable or mobile dictaphone and um yeah like this crazy thing happen so there is uh the Museum of the moving image is who is hosting orphans uh this year and it is right next to Henson Studios um and so two archists from The Henson uh archive came and showed a bunch of stuff and they talked about all the different projects that Jim Henson did with commercials and uh like a really hilarious uh look I think it's leoy Chinese food Dragon commercial that wasn't made for uh it was made for executives hilarious absolutely hilarious so one of the things that they did uh is they is Jim did this thing with Ralph the dog if you remember from The Muppet Show Ralph played the piano well Ralph was like the Muppet celebrity back in the day uh more so than any other character Kermit was there but wasn't really as big as Ralph Ralph was a big deal anyways Ralph was the spokesperson for a series of films that did for IBM and so I don't know if you remember yesterday uh one of the commercials had this guy uh on a Dictaphone on a plane you know doing a sales order or something like that well they showed a film tonight that had Ralph with the exact same dictaphone um and he was talking about sales and uh it was the same thing um so it was like a weird coincidence it's like wait a minute I know that thing that dictaphone um anyways so if you're ever in the atoria uh New York area which is kind of Queens um go to the Museum of the moving image they have a whole giant Jim Hansen exhibit there plus they have all this other amazing stuff of television and movie stuff and there used to be Studios well there's new there's Studios there now but they supposedly during the War uh the Army took over the studios and cranked out hundreds if not thousands of training films and uh so it's it's got a good feeling to it um so anyways today uh it's Friday and we're just going to watch commercials uh about New York through the lens of chemical
