c b give me a d b give me an e give me a k what i just don't is about it i don't understand her she's so hostile towards me some someday i'm gonna get her uh what's the problem melvin the mother-in-law again sam i tell you i mean i get so well i'm gonna find a way to get even with her yeah yeah yeah i mean it sam i'm just gonna find a way someday to get her yeah sure you will melvin will it be huh what are you gonna have oh well i think i'll start off with a nice fresh glass of whole milk please ah no milk uh just coffee a pop oh okay then i'll have a cup of coffee and some whole wheat bread please ah no brown milk than just white oh well white i guess yeah and hey a nice thick juicy new york sirloin steak cooked in all its own juices huh uh would you believe a hamburger cooked on our grill with its juices running out the side oh a baked potato uh just french fries oh but made from fresh potatoes cut and peeled in the premises right oh come on melvin you must be kidding i ain't got time for that sort of thing i buy them frozen could be monkeys peels and slices and for all i know but what's the vegetable vegetable look at melvin you're getting french fries what do you want from me already okay okay look take all that stuff and wrap it up and i'll have it to go to go what's the matter what he did here sam i'm not gonna eat it i'm gonna give it to my mother-in-law [Music] please haven't had anything to drink in three days cola please call her [Music] sometimes being surrounded plays strange tricks for the man poor devil but next time you're under attack by thirst why not reach for a water yes snap a tap of water you'll be glad you did with me is dr heinrich henry who has been researching the effects of coffee on humans and has come up with a theory that coffee is actually good for you is that right doc dr henry oh sorry i guess i uh i think the um harmful effects of coffee have been stressed too strongly yes well for example doctor is coffee hard on the nerves oh nonsense nonsense i drink uh 14 cups a day and as you can see it it doesn't bother me [Music] bother me at all yes yes well doctor let me ask you this i guess this is some idiots even say that coffee can keep you from getting a good night's sleep while my my my studies show that what was that what what oh i i thought i heard something um tell me doctor wouldn't people be better off by drinking milk or fruit juice or even water oh those drinks are all right but i believe coffee isn't beneficial i can't stand it get them off me this little green things crawling on you the clothes are crawling it's all right doctor with me this afternoon has been dr heinrich henry who was speaking on his theory that coffee indeed may be good for you thank you and good night all right it's all right this is mrs fitzpatrick and her daughter jenny many people cannot tell them apart can you all right which one of you is mrs fitzpatrick i'm mrs fitzpatrick and this is my daughter jenny isn't that fantastic how old are you jenny i don't know she won't tell me you don't look a day older than your daughter mrs f oh thank you you know most people think we're sisters how do you manage to stay so young mrs f well i eat a well-balanced diet and i get plenty of exercise oh yeah she makes me at the school cafeteria chip gravy pop somebody out there help me please give nothing to my father there you are ladies and gentlemen important news for 45 year old mothers who eat a well-balanced diet and for young daughters who never have time for a proper meal and look like their mothers already any other advice to the moms out there mrs f yes i think it's important that youngsters are able to make their own decisions oh i give jenny her own money and she buys her lunches well i figure a couple more years of all that garbage and i'll be able to tell people i'm her daughter isn't that right jimmy why do they put this on hamburgers why don't they take the money they spend on parsley that nobody eats and use it to hire a guy to scrape the gum off the bottom of the table i'd like to know what's in that hamburger uh no maybe not sure there's protein in it but they cook it so much that a lot of it can be damaged besides the filler they often put on the patty soaks up a lot of fat while the meat is cooking and they say we're all eating too much fat in this country anyway then of course there's the bun soft and gummy very good for mopping up spills but uh after the milling and the processing of the flour you don't get much left in a a sponge with crust so where's the nutritional value in a hamburger right here parsley is a very good source of vitamin a which is good for your skin so whenever you get a chance eat the parsley it may make you healthy enough to survive the hamburger that's the main thing isn't it it is it is the main thing but it's it's so funny things change so quickly i guess we have to adapt to change but but there's no choice and so much so much so much change oh yes change this there's so much of it it's so hard to cope with well things aren't what they used to be are they not really why i can remember the shows podville it was wonderful eddie cantor jack benny gracie field and bread remember bread ah bread yes do you remember when there was real whole grain bread tasty and soup remember soup broth broth so good i can practically smell it now oh and how about meat a real steak not today now the young people have taken over it's their world everything's so fast instant they're not interested in eating food now now just just fill up the hunger spots that's all as fast as they can ah young people there's no place for us anymore i used to like the taste of food today it's all junk at least it's junk what the young people are eating you know they're uh there still is good stuff around you know oh i know i still eat it yeah but it's a young people's world yes but but there's one consolation one just one what's that they're all gonna kill themselves for malnutrition before we die of old age [Music] well ladies and gentlemen we've reached the final plateau here on the big payoff for the first time in the helped the blood and the lungs use oxygen more efficiently as an example a deficiency of vitamin e creates need for more over a specific period of time than an adequate amount of vitamin e well we told mr sock cakes to be prepared for anything and so we would have expected him to supply his body with sufficient vitamin e now if he has then he will win the two hundred and fifty thousand dollars however if he has a vitamin e deficiency then well we'll wait and see because you see when we turn off his speakers we cut off his air now there is enough air in there for a man with sufficient vitamin e only if mr softcakes has a deficiency we should begin to see the effects right now well full time's up now he's gone you mean that's it for mr sauce cake yep afraid so sorry rummy soft cakes you lose but folks it's been a swell few weeks hasn't it i was really hoping old rummy there would win but you want a few and you lose a few well it's a little eight so we gotta go but remember don't visiting um my wife family and so i'm back and happy to be here uh i hope everybody enjoyed yesterday's screening of a cult uh is it echo from the darkness i can't remember but uh i love that film and um i wanted to to show it at some point but it you know it's long it's like an hour so um that and magic hands uh talk about the effect of 70s occult on our lives um that last one we just watched national mulch wow what a weird film that was i love it because it's talking about nutrition but it's for teenagers and young adults uh it's that target demographic of doing those kind of skits and um yeah it's it's it's pretty great it's not very funny but it's funny because it's not very funny that's my take on it but uh yeah so this is the av geeks lunchtime streaming show if you haven't seen us before um this is what we're doing this is something we've been doing since mid march uh it's a wonderful distraction from current events and it is something that i truly enjoy doing and i truly missed yesterday so i was kind of peeking in on comments uh making some but uh because of my i couldn't really do it well for my phone so but i hope you guys like that anyways we're watching a bunch of films that have absolutely nothing to do with election or with uh viruses we do have one that deals with bacteria uh microbes but not a virus uh but this first one is a great coronet film fun that builds good health enjoy [Music] it's a fine saturday for a good game of touch ball and these boys really enjoy it too look at them run the game is fun and it's fun to watch the game mr baxter has come to the playground to watch his boys play for a few minutes before calling them home for lunch hank baxter is practically the star of the team jimmy baxter well he doesn't seem to be having much fun what's the matter jimmy couldn't you have blocked your man mr baxter can see that jimmy isn't having as much fun as the others and he wonders what he can do about that all right there's the pass from center a short lateral to hank nice play there goes hank he's in the clear there he goes touchdown hank certainly can play canty it's no wonder he likes to play [Music] his dad's certainly proud of him now will they make the extra point hank's going to throw a pass to jimmy come on jimmy you're in the open [Music] oh well you'll have another chance why what are you going to do now jimmy quit playing you're not having a good time well the game can go on the others are having fun but what about you jimmy it isn't much fun when you're so tired and don't know how to play very well now it's time for lunch anyway tank has to come too my wouldn't you think hank would be tired by now not hank there's quite a difference that way between the two baxter boys isn't there at lunch mr baxter is worrying about jimmy he wants jimmy to be strong and happy like hank and dad thinks jimmy seems so tired and he can't be healthy if he eats like that well it's plain to see that jimmy needs to have more fun then he might feel better and eat better right after lunch hank goes to have some more fun [Music] he gets to work on a model airplane he's making you see hank has played outdoors all morning now he needs quiet restful play like this to balance his active play so it's good for him and good fun too there now while the glue dries hank has another idea come on jimmy play a game of checkers but jimmy doesn't know how to play quiet games either hank knows other things to do here's a good book he's been reading reading is a good way to have fun [Music] hank knows just lots of different ways to have fun what about you jimmy feeling tired and not interested in anything well dad has a plan maybe you can get interested in football and have more fun if you learn to handle the ball get used to holding it and throwing it as you learn how to play better you'll have more fun come on out and see for yourself [Music] so well jimmy you are discovering aren't you that as you learn how to play it gets to be more fun [Music] and on the next saturday wonder how jimmy will do today signals hep here comes a pass jimmy ooh good catch oops tag that's a good game though and you're having more fun now that you've learned to play better what's this time to go home already you're not so tired today are you jimmy well as a matter of fact jimmy is pretty tired but he doesn't know it jimmy doesn't want to stop now that he knows how to play the game he's overdoing on active play so at lunch dad notices something else about jimmy oh jimmy's eating better but he seems a little nervous and jumpy wolfing is food and after lunch jimmy just doesn't settle down he wants to practice football all the time he just seems to have to keep going but is he having fun you can tell by looking at him that he's over tired and nervous dad has an idea he thinks will help jimmy it's fine to play actively to play games like touch ball that way you get lots of exercise but you need some quiet play too to help you relax and rest quiet play what kind of quiet play what about building model planes the way hank does no you don't think that would be any fun but still touch ball wasn't much fun until you learned how maybe it would be fun building models if you knew something about it but here's dad with something else he knows will be fun it's a game to play and quiet play can be fun too when you know how watch [Music] jimmy's learning to have quiet play as well as active play two kinds of fun every day you see you need both kinds of fun for balance here are some ways to have active fun playing basketball skipping rope playing ball games riding bicycles playing badminton these are ways to have fun and get good exercise and here are some ideas for quiet fun too reading books making things learning more about the things around you perhaps start a collection of leaves or plants there are all sorts of quiet games to play jimmy's learning the habits of fun every day with quiet restful games and learning to enjoy helping at home work like this can be good exercise and fun too and of course he's learning to spend some time every day playing active outdoor games so jimmy is healthier and happier than ever before look at that a touchdown good fun helps build good health quiet fun what a novel concept [Laughter] give your parents a break for a sec and just have some quiet fun just sit quietly in your room and have some fun um there's a there's a couple of uh builds good health films in the cornet series uh and that's um just one of them um wow what do we got today let's see all right this is a film it's a part of a newsreel series called march of time that was kind of made by time magazine but also other entities and this one uh talks about uh the history of movies and and basically involves moma because moma um museum of modern art uh they were a big big part of um preserving and collecting our uh film heritage uh and still do that to this day and i'm good friends with some of the people at moma and have done some work with them and back in january went there and did a uh home movie day and we showed home movies and it was a really good time so anyways this is uh movies march on [Music] the mark of time just off fifth avenue on a site long occupied by the old-fashioned town dwellings of the rockefeller family stands the spanking new home of a nationally important institution the new york museum of modern art no dusty storehouse for old masters this museum is an up-to-date showroom for art in our time painting and sculpture architecture and still photography and the motion picture for more than four years the director of the museum's film library john evans abbott and his curator iris barry have been gathering together a vast and significant collection of motion picture films milestones in the progress of the youngest and liveliest of the arts here preserved for all time are old negatives through which the people and the customs of an age long past will live forever and in the museum's newly built vault is the accepted ancestor of today's vast movie industry a 10-minute film the great train robbery produced in 1903 for thomas edison was man's first attempt to tell a connected story through his newly discovered medium the motion picture [Music] today hardly 40 years after the great train robbery the art of telling stories with camera and film has become the nation's fifth greatest industry with a capital investment of three billion dollars and each production is a highly speculative venture for its story its direction and its cast must please the ever-changing tastes of those who support the industry an army of 250 million moviegoers international capital of the motion picture is a fabulously press-agented suburb of los angeles hollywood a community whose name alone is a magic word throughout the world but in hollywood where 65 of all films are produced the making of movies is a serious and complicated business among the movie industries 30 000 employees are men and women from nearly 300 trades and professions [Music] nowhere in the world are there craftsmen who take more exacting care or in the making of a picture carelessness in one single detail can mar the combined work of the hundreds whose talents go toward the making of a scene today big time movie making requires weeks and months of tireless research and preparation before a camera turns a single foot of film and a big slice of every hollywood producer's budget must go for the studio sets which serve as background and atmosphere for his story [Music] for the great movie public becoming more and more observant demands scrupulous historical accuracy and strictest attention to minutes details every studio has its own museum immense warehouses crammed with furniture and fittings props from every nation in the world from every period in history but for years hollywood producers have paid a quarter of their total production budget more than 40 million dollars a year to the men and women who are their players for upon the popularity of screen actors many a producing company has built its fame and fortune today the industry is more insistent than ever that its artists have something beside glamour and it demands that they know how to play a scene how to create a character [Music] or with the movie is no longer a novelty but an accepted art the cinema has a responsibility to the public a responsibility that must be upheld with all the creative skill the imagination and resources at its [Music] command out of its collection of books and original documents on the movies the largest library of its kind in the world the museum of modern arts film research staff is today compiling an encyclopedia of the cinema being added daily to this collection is important source material pertaining to a young art whose entire history has been made within a few decades but far more vividly than in any printed book the museum is already teaching the history of the movies to the public through its educational programs of important films of the past today being widely circulated to us colleges and museums in new york city the museum has its own theater showing programs designed to trace the progress of the motion picture since the days of its crude beginnings in 1896 the first moving pictures projected on public screens were plotless incidents but a minute long that amazed and scandalized their audiences sixteen years later in 1912 the moving picture had begun to tell simple stories in many of them mary pickford was the heroine lionel barrimore her leading man by 1914 the screen had developed definite trends the serial thriller in the western which produced their greatest cowboy star in william s hart [Music] the same year 1914 william fox presented the world with the first great movie vance peter barra whose exotic screen romances brought a nationwide storm of censorship [Music] throughout the early teens winning friends for the struggling movie industry were max senate's keystone comedy built upon a sure fire technique a chase [Music] in 1914 a famed stage actress marie dressler making her screen debut had an obscure london comedian charles chaplin as her leading man in max senate's first feature-length comedy tilly's punctured romance almost overnight the public discovered in this obscure london pantomimist a great artist and made him the most popular and highly paid comedian the world has ever known [Music] let's go [Music] the year 1915 is one well marked in motion picture history for it was in this year that david ward griffith released his mighty spectacle the birth of a nation the most important single picture ever produced it was the turning point at which the movies became established entertainment early in 1918 a young prestige seeker samuel goldwyn lured mary garden from the opera to play in his silent version of tais [Music] in 1921 wrecked ingram's four horsemen of the apocalypse launched rudolf valentino the greatest romantic idol of the screen's history on his short and brilliant career by 1922 comedian acrobat douglas fairbanks had given the elaborate costume spectacle a permanent place in motion pictures giving realism and dignity to the old-time western producer jessie lasky and director james cruz started a new trend with their epic of the covered wagon in 1925 with the big parade produced by irving fahlberg and directed by king vidal the silent motion picture reached a new peak of dramatic power so the year 1927 brought to a close the era of the silent film and the years in which unrestricted by any language barriers hollywood and its stars monopolized the picture screens of all the world foreign well remembered in the slow development of the talking picture are dr lee de forest theodore case and earl spaunable the research staffs of rca bell laboratories engineers donald mackenzie and edward winter well remembered too is the fall of 1927 when the late sam warner using bell laboratories equipment produced the most revolutionary picture in all movie history a film trademarked vitaphone that was to give to the screen a new dimension and a new power i hope i didn't make you wait baby i'm coming oh god i hope i'm not lazy [Music] don't you know me it's a little crazy i'd walk a million miles with one sound picture the silent film was forever obsolete [Music] memorable was the terrifying realism of universals all quiet on the western front greatest of war pictures [Music] unforgettable in fox films cavalcade was the restrained use of sound in the recreation of queen victoria's funeral five kings riding behind her mom she must have been a very little [Music] maiden through the talkies will rogers was endeared to millions throughout the world well all i know is what i read in the paper in zola paul muni demonstrated for all time that the talking picture was unquestionably a modern art before before the whole world i swear that gracious is innocent by my 40 years of work by all i have written to spread the spirit of france i swear that gracious may all that melt away may my name perish if traces be nothing [Music] so young is hollywood that many of its earliest pioneers are still active in the industry men like nicholas skink able chief of mgm and his brother joseph chairman of the board of 20th century fox [Music] harry warner an industry veteran of 36 years is president of the great warner brothers enterprises heading paramount is barney balaban who entered the picture business in 1998. still a big name in hollywood cecil b demille made his first feature nearly 30 years ago back in the studios working with hal roach is the great d.w griffith on the stages of 20th century the veteran laugh makers buster keaton and max senator at work again [Music] ever a master showman wise old samuel goldwyn has for an assistant the son of the president of the united states [Music] as overlord of the movies true diplomat will hayes has been steering the industry through its problems and crises for 17 years since 1930 the hayes production code voluntarily adopted by all major producers has been law to hollywood movie makers to will hayes enforcement officer genial joe breen has gone the difficult job of making sure that no picture offensive to any race class or creed shall reach the stream for in all its years hollywood has pursued one great objective to please and entertain its public but the hollywood of 1939 is finding that the public has new ideas of entertainment richly has it rewarded walt disney who snow white shattered traditions and box office records and established a new kind of feature a new kind of movie star another tradition breaker is jack l warner smart and successful producer of a long list of films in which the public has found both entertainment and significance meeting the growing demand for important drama rko's president capable george shaffer has signed raymond massey for the part of lincoln in the screen version of 1939's pulitzer prize play representative of hollywood's growing progressiveness is walter ranger soon to produce vincent sheehan's outspoken narrative on present-day problems and we have facts to face wars abroad social and economic distress at home threats to democracy everywhere it is time for us to assume our responsibilities and to deal truthfully and freely with the problems which faces today master of the art of motion picture entertainment is colombia's age director producer frank capra for his newest picture mr smith goes to washington director capra has drawn on the almost untouched wealth of story material on the national political scene for john steinbeck's scrapes of wrath 20th century's daryl zaneck has paid 75 000 announced that he will faithfully portray the flight of u.s migratory workers and eagerly awaited by moviegoers everywhere is a film in which the world's most feared political figure will be burlesque by the world's greatest comedian 50 year old charlie chaplin but to hollywood each new trend is an experiment for 250 million moviegoers each week pass final judgment on the most powerful medium of expression the world has ever known an art form as great as any in man's history time marches on well made it too early there was a closing credits that i accidentally uh cut off uh i like so this film came out in 1939 and i like that hayes was still around and still had his code i would say that hayes code and also the paramount decree brought us an amazing age of exploitation films and uh kind of the genre films that um many of us like because um basically the haze code was dictating what was to be properly shown and exploitation filmmakers were able to skirt around that and also were able to book films in theaters that uh could show whatever they wanted um so go hayes hayes was wonderful hayes was horrible um but uh yeah it's a fascinating film because it's it talks about the past which was not so long ago you know with when that film was made um you know we're talking like 30 years even something like that um to look back is really phenomenal and now you know we are what 80 years from there um 70 years yeah 80 years there you go math maths um all right so this next film is uh i've been wanting to show this for a while um it has barfing in it but it's not real barfing it's about uh an outbreak of an illness but it's not covid and it's not a virus it is uh the center for disease control's outbreak of salmonella infection where a uh we learn about how [Music] someone who cross-contaminated some cutting boards infected an entire air force base so here is outbreak of salmonella infection my favorite part of it is the the gleeful music that is played as the um bacteria spreads through all the all the food um and i guess the cautionary part here is don't get the giblet gravely gravy because it is going to be a problem so here it is outbreak of salmonella infection [Music] enjoy [Music] my [Music] this is captain kimberly our medical officer and these are some of our men eating their evening meal as usual at the end of another routine day yes everything seems to be going well just another day but believe me what followed turned out to be anything but routine this meal is the beginning of our story a story that developed during the night and continued for several days during the early part of the night we all went about our duties as usual everything was nice and smooth and quiet the way we like to see things run at midnight about 40 of us in the duty section got a light meal it was just about this time that things were beginning to happen it began like this at first a few of the men who weren't in the duty section got sick more followed suit and just before dawn most of the men who had the midnight meal joined their ranks you never saw such a sick bunch of men in your life and it got steadily worse vomiting abdominal pains and diarrhea it was hard to tell which caused the most trouble one thing is sure the boys were well taken care of some of them at the base infirmary and others at a private hospital in town [Music] [Music] for a while all we had time to do was bring in the sick and some of them were plenty sick get them in bed and leave them to captain kimberly and his assistants [Music] it was pretty rough going for a while vomiting diarrhea cramps headache sweating prostration fever and dehydration yes salmonella can make you plenty sick just as soon as we got the chance to let up and breathe a little we got down to the business of finding the cause of all the trouble naturally we had suspected some kind of food poisoning and so it was look here this is what we found these are salmonella organisms of the species typhy muriel which were isolated from a patient's stool specimen from the lapse of time between our patients last meal and the outbreak of illness it was pretty evident that the evening meals were responsible for the presence of the salmonella organisms in the stool specimen in the meantime our laboratory was working on samples of food eaten that night sampling incubating plating transfer and then more incubating laboratory examinations require time and it may take several days to identify the organisms our results showed that the other foods were okay but the samples of leftover chicken and the gravy reveal the same bacteria as the stool specimens of the patients for these two were thoroughly contaminated with salmonella typhy burial how and when did the chicken and the gravy become contaminated with the organisms well here's one thing we'll have to assume but it's a pretty safe assumption one or more of these chickens were contaminated by the salmonella organisms on the outside and very likely inside and of course the liver and gizzard are prime suspects during the cleaning operation this cutting board was undoubtedly contaminated [Music] [Music] after the chickens were put in the oven the giblets were cooked separately on top of the stove [Music] and the cutting board was cleaned but what a cleaning it got maybe we should just say that the salmonella organisms were more completely distributed over its surface and embedded in the cracks while the giblets were cooking a white gravy was prepared and then the giblets were taken from the stove thorough cooking had killed the salmonella organisms but this good clean food was recontaminated on the cutting board as it was chopped [Music] so [Music] then these recontaminated giblets were put into the gravy [Music] this contaminated gravy was not reheated it was prepared for serving and on the steam table there wasn't enough heat to kill the organisms in fact there is a good chance they began to grow [Music] the story was much the same with the chicken heat kill the salmonella organisms in the oven but again the unclean cutting board contaminated the safe chicken meat as it was carved for serving [Music] my [Music] there wasn't much delay in getting the chicken served [Music] and between the gravy and the chicken we can account for the men who were sick around midnight or soon after those acute cases that occurred later form another chapter in our story here's how the next chapter goes food left over from the evening meal was saved for the midnight meal and here in this lukewarm steam table the salmonella organisms continued to grow and to make matters worse the cutting board contributed a new bunch of organisms as the leftover chicken was prepared for serving so that by the time the midnight meal was served the chicken a la king was supporting large numbers of salmonella organisms enough to make the men on the night watch so violently ill what could have prevented this sickness and suffering we couldn't know that the chickens were infected look here this is a detergent this is hot water this is a brush these are hands put them together use them and get a clean cutting board with all the troublemakers washed off a good scrubbing immediately after the raw chicken was prepared would have gotten rid of the salmonella organisms of course this applies to our hands and anything else that might be contaminated by contact with the fowl we made some other mistakes too the leftover chicken should have been put into the refrigerator as soon as possible and the gravy it was cooked before the contaminated giblets were added thorough cooking after they were added would have killed the salmonella organisms the air based mess hall accommodated the men in three ships of approximately 150 at a time out of some 450 regular personnel 173 became infected with salmonellosis of which 84 were seriously ill enough to be hospitalized all affected complete recovery and we're back on duty within several days to about two weeks [Music] sorry sorry i ruined everybody's lunch and dinner uh breakfast yeah cross contamination man it's no joke no joke so if you're prepping chicken um be sure you clean what your what it touched the raw chicken touch i think about this film a lot i like the one where the guy is putting his slipper on backwards and he's like rushing and people are holding their their butt uh in their stomachs um there's another film i have uh or had it's it was on videotape though um that was part of this series and it was staph infection and it was the pro the premise of that one was somebody at a pastry shop was making eclairs and he had like a a weird sore which had staff and he was just letting it you know make like piping custard into these eclairs you know with his uh scab just there not being covered up then they're driving all the eclairs in a refrigerated truck which breaks down on route to this catered social event where then they play that same music and they show like the time lapse of all the staff just growing and growing and then everybody eats it and all these it's the same type of thing it's people barfing but it's mostly women uh society women barfing at their luxurious bedrooms uh and in the hospital uh so i'm trying to find that film on film uh it was on three-quarter inch videotape and that is not an easy format to uh show but uh there's gotta be others in this series i've i've just i have to kind of double down and and see if i can find more because it's it's wonderful it really does teach you like this is how it's spread it's it's almost like a case history um and i used to read back in the day the cdc's uh weekly morbidity and mortality report or weekly report uh the mmwr and they'd always have these things where they would talk about like there was this church reunion barbecue and everybody got violently ill and then you find out it's because something the big beans weren't treated right or you know egg salad something went horribly wrong with that so it's back in the day really fascinating to kind of see you know the detective work that they do to try to figure out like how people got sick um so you're welcome for that um thank you william and thank you kevin very much for the coffee uh that you donated earlier uh one way you can coffee is for you is what had people say yes i'm gonna buy skip some coffee there was a time in my life when i worked a computer job and i would drink an inordinate amount of coffee and dr pepper and i would like in the middle of the night would have these night terrors because i had so much caffeine coursing through my body um i have since scaled way back uh and and black coffee is what i have and water um don't really have sodas and uh so thank you for the coffee um very much appreciated and thank you uh for tuning in today uh today is a special day uh because it is the election and it but it is also a day that many of us are anxious very anxious about so please take some time to do some self-care uh basically i'm not going to look at facebook or youtube or the headlines after this show i'm going to relax maybe watch uh some movies um not from my collection but just regular feature films um and maybe watch the great british bake off um and just kind of not look at the news because um the news is what it is but there's an anxiety that everybody is has right now and there's a lot of people that are uh using facebook to try to vent that and i think that it's very detrimental to my mental health um you know so that's my what i'm doing with my wife um i don't know what we're gonna have for dinner though maybe uh yeah i don't know anyways um just trying to just please take care of yourself um please take care of friends and family um reach out i kind of have started kind of reaching out so i'm probably going to call the parents and call uh siblings and just kind of say hi hey how are you doing um because there's just anxiety there's a lot of anxiety um on a national level and i think that um it can be very helpful i'll be back tomorrow regardless what happens uh even if the world is in flames i'll just keep going um so uh know that we love you very much and we love the time that we spend with you and please take care of yourself and please come back tomorrow and we will watch more films that don't really i'll try not to have anything to do with current events but actually today like i tried to schedule some things to show and many of them related to what was
