AV Geeks Lunch 10-5-2023

hi everybody I'm skip Alzheimer welcome to the avgeeks lunchtime streaming show where we watch old 16 millimeter films and think about how they relate to our lives um I am not in the archive today I am traveling uh in Canada and um but I still want to show you films we have so many films that I want to show you uh today's theme uh is uh the paulists the paulist were a group of Catholics that came together and realized that uh they could use mass media as a way to get across their points um not about specifically about Catholicism but just general uh things about human behavior and being kind to each other it's like they're they're these wonderful kind of shorts or Longs um that were just about you know Golden Rule about um morality things in general and not so specifically about the Catholic Church um so what we're going to watch is uh part of this first thing is part of the bloom in Human series which was something that was shown probably in churches and maybe some of these actually shown up in schools and again they're not talking about the Bible they're just talking about interactions of people and dealing with emotions and just general morality uh the first one's called my main man then we're going to watch suitman which I believe was probably shown maybe edited for television in some way um and then finally the great chasti experiment was released in 1985 which is trying to address you know the teens and the young adults that they want to have sex and so how do we talk about that in a way that's not condescending not preachy um but the uh other interesting thing that the poist did was a TV series called insight and insight uh ran from I feel like the late 60s up to the 80s maybe longer uh and it featured a lot of well-known uh actors and it was kind of like a how would I describe it it was kind of like a twilight zone is but it was it did dig deeper into religious and moral things um dealt with things like uh the death penalty dealt with uh family Dynamics a lot um and uh it's funny so uh a archist at UCLA and myself we maintain a list of all the inside episodes that we can find uh because uh Mark Quigley that's his name uh used to see these like they would show up they'd be distributed to TV shows and TV shows would show it early in the morning or late at night just to fill programming it's like oh here's free programming Boop um and so some episodes are just whacked out um the ones I've gotten they're okay they're not the best uh like but Mark has some that are just phenomenal um that I am actively trying to hunt down but we're not showing any of the inside episodes on this we have shown them in past episodes of our show but uh anyways maybe at some point I'll find a bunch of insights and we'll do a show about that but old lady she really peps up [Music] spaghetti I lay on a soft bed and looked up at the dark green Pine clumps clumps against the sky a bird sang a sad clear song they had no she had she had never heard before would you believe I read to her one never read to myself she had a bunch of books but she said her glasses weren't doing much good anyway we both liked it so do me something again the song was sad and a as a question question without words good very good what not bad yourself Joey thank you you're a good cook Joey your grandma was [Music] lucky hey you were afraid of me I mean mean frankly I was ashamed of myself here I am supposed to be a Harden character I mean kids Flinch when they look at me and no Wise Cracks about that anyway here she's telling me all this stuff and I'm feeling like a cockroach and I'm kicking myself for feeling like one and kicking myself for being one and one day red gets us together ker don't show I guess he got the fear fear of God when a cops got him red ain't happy but she tells us we're moving again 2:00 sharp we go right through the door one shot we in right quick 1 2 3 he a real old guy this Mr [Music] milus look Mr M you got to have believe he wrote this the trouble is I have grown completely irresponsible and all my duties have fallen on my friends around me how can I keep my boyfriend and live up to my responsibilities at the know I really do I like to be with you I feel like I just feel like I don't have to say anything I feel like I don't have to do anything I just feel like I can just sit here you know and be with you and and just be happy what are you thinking I'm thinking you're about probably the most loving person I've ever met makes me feel worthy oh don't say that you're the most loving person I ever met I mean that you don't know that yeah I do know that you don't you don't know that what's wrong no something's wrong what's wrong what's the matter with you no what what's the matter Nikki I wasn't coming on to you I know you didn't come on so why why are you walking away from me what do you think you're doing just don't make a big deal out of it big deal out of anything so what should I do know so now you don't have anything to say all I did was do what you want right I mean you said you wanted some space so I gave you some space then you said you wanted to try Chastity for a week so I said okay I of respect for you we'll do it and we did it and we got close but then you didn't want that so all I want to know is what's the next test okay just tell me what the next test is cuz cuz know it's honest cuz you just were with me I'm never going to have anything to worry about since you know since get to know each other so well maybe we could try this chassity thing another [Music]
