Hello everybody. This is Skip Alzheimer. Welcome to the AV Geeks Lunchtime streaming show where we watch old 16mimeter films. And I am in a hotel room in Charlotte. It's Sunday night. Um, and uh, I had a wonderful time opening for Found Footage Festival in Raleigh and they coerced me into coming with them to Charlotte uh, and opening for them um, there. And uh so I got a hitched ride with them and I'm stay spending the night and then I'm going to take a train back tomorrow which means that I'd be traveling during uh the show and as I found out when I came from Raleigh to Charlotte on the train, Wi-Fi was not great. So I I don't think I could do a live show that way. So, um, anyways, one of the main reasons, well, there's a couple of reasons why I went to to Charlotte with Found Footage Festival guys. One is I enjoy their company. Uh, we are parallel in what we do. I'm 10 years older than them. So, uh I can offer them advice uh about collection collections and things like that, but they also they've done so many more shows than I have that um you know, and they've been doing touring and so we we compare notes all the time. So, it was a great uh three-hour trip with them. Um, the other reason that uh I wanted to come to Charlotte was that I got to check out this independent um cinema which is here. It's a nonprofit artouse cinema and it's awesome. It's really a great space. And so I kind of came here to kind of meet the programmer and to see if there's an opportunity for me to do shows in Charlotte because all my family lives in Charlotte. So, it is like a no-brainer for me to come here. And I really haven't done Charlotte shows. So, that was a great meet with that person. And the space is amazing. Uh really is something that Charlotte needed and it's so good that they're there. The third reason is um here's the story. So, I lived with a bunch of dudes uh kind of at the tail end of college and uh after I graduated at a place called Pine House. And Pine House was in Raleigh. It wasn't too far from NC State. And um that is where we started this thing called Whifflefist and we started doing all these different projects. But pretty early on, um, we had a videotape that was donated to the house that was called It's Potty Time. And it was a notorious videotape. It was made for kids. It was made uh by uh had some experts from Duke University's uh children's hospital and it was about teaching uh kids toilet training and uh it had lots of songs and it was it was an amazing uh thing to watch and so we would show it all the time. Like every time somebody new came to Pine House, we would sit them down in front of the TV and we would show them it's potty time. Um, and the reason why that's interesting is because that's before I was collecting film. And so we were showing like stuff that we had collected on video. So it's potty time was the main thing, but there's also other things that we had traded with people. There's a whole tape trader community. And so we were constantly sharing those things. Um, so when I started collecting film, it was natural for me to show what I had because I had had done years of showing its potty time. Um, and so its potty time is really kind of a protogeeks thing. And um so the reason that I wanted to come to this show in Charlotte is because it's potty time was shot in Charlotte and basically there was they had found the main character of its potty time Mr. Penders. Mr. Penders is this little person who's like I don't know 8 in tall. He uh has a beret, glasses, red suspenders, and plays a flute. Um, so the theater had actually found him. Uh, and supposedly he was a a big person in the arts. He hosted a TV show on um the local one of the local stations. Um, and so I was like, "Oh my god, that's Mr. Penders." Like, I totally want to meet him. So, um, what I'm going to do is I'm going to let you watch. It's potty time. Now, we're cheating because this is video. Uh, it's 22 minutesish. Um, the songs are incredibly catchy. uh and which was the point and hilarious and what I realized in in uh watching this so I could meet prepare myself to meet Mr. contenders and we kind of discussed uh Joe and Nick and I discussed like maybe what were the best scenes to put in the compilation and like what are questions we could ask uh you know like what song is going to be sung you know if there's going to be a sing along um so anyways here's it's potty time in its entirety um I don't think it's going to bring down any copyright hammers but I don't know maybe who's I I mean, I uploaded it as a test and so far nothing. But anyways, this is, like I said, this is a protogeeks video. Uh, this is the type of thing that I was collecting prior to me collecting 16 mm and going like nuts and collecting 16 millimeter. And it was because uh when I showed it to people and and it was the house, it was belonged to the house. So any of us of roommates that if we showed it to somebody that the payoff was so great and so hopefully uh if you have not seen it I hope you enjoy it. Here's it's potty time. Enjoy. It's Bobby's birthday and you're invited to his party. Bobby's birthday. Now he is four. He is growing up now and he can dress himself. He can comb his hair. He can throw a ball high into the air. This is Boby's birthday. We'll have a cake. It's a cake that Bobby helped me make from a box of [Music] candles by their names. And he loves to play a hide and seek game. He can ride a trike. He can sing a song. And he's old enough to stay up all day long. This is Boby's birthday. And he is four. And he just keeps learning. [Music] This is going to be your best birthday party ever, Bobby. We still have a few more decorations to put up, but your sister's finished her breakfast now, so it's time to go sit on the potty. Okay. While you and Katie go to the potty, Bobby and I will clear the table. We counted out four. Each year, Bobby learns more [Music] than he is. and he just keeps learning more and more. It's potty time. Let's get that diaper off. [Music] I use my pee. I use my pott when I have to pee. I use my pee. Now I am learn. That's good. I use my poop. I use my pott when I have to poop. I use my pott when I have to poop. Now I am learning how it's okay if you don't need to go right now, Katie. Just let me know when you do need to go to the potty. Okay. Okay. You're doing so good. Here's Lizzy, and she's going to Bobby's party, too. A B C D E F G H I J K L M N O P Q R S T U V W X Y and Z. Now I know my ABCs. Won't you sing along with me? Lizzy, before we leave for Bobby's party, you need to go to the potty. Okay, Daddy. You need any help? No thanks. I can do it myself. That's my girl. First, I put my book away. Then we'll go to the party. When I use the potty, that's so proud of me. And I go, [Music] we're really good at this, aren't we, Teddy? on top of your sitting to [Music] poop. Oh, life is much better when your diapers don't droop. But you have to be patient. Just sit there and smile. But instead of wait, why not [Music] read pushed the door open and came into the nursery wagging his tail. "Where's Raggedy Anne?" Phto asked. "Marcella took Raggedy Anne and went somewhere." All the dolls answered in chorus. I found something I must tell Raggedyanne about, said Phto. Real life kittens. Three little tiny ones out in the barn. Oh, I wish Ragnan was here, cried the French doll. She would know what to do about it. That's why I wanted to see her, said Phto. We will tell Ragdanne when she comes in, said the French doll. And Phto went out to play with a neighbor dog. So when RaggedyAnne had been returned to the nursery, the dolls could hardly wait until Marcella had put on their nighties and left them for the night. Then they told Raggedyanne all about the kittens. Raggedy suggested all the dolls go out to the barn and see the kittens. This they did easily, for the window was open, and it was but a short jump to the ground. They found Photo out near the barn watching a hole. I was afraid something might disturb them, he said, for Mama Cat went away about an hour ago. All the dolls with Raggedyanne in the lead crawled through the hole and ran to the basket. Just as Raggedyanne started to pick up one of the kittens, there was a lot of howling and yelping, and Phto came bounding through the hole with Mama Cat behind him. When they had circled the barn two or three times, Phto managed to find the hole and escaped to the yard. I'm surprised at you, Mama Cat, said Raggedyanne. B has been watching your kittens for an hour while you were away. He wouldn't hurt them for anything. I'm sorry then, said Mama Cat. Have you told the folks up at the house about your dear little kittens? RaggedyAnne asked. Oh my, no, exclaimed Mama Cat. At the last place I lived, the people found out about my kittens. And do you know all the kittens disappeared? I intend keeping this a secret. But all the folks at this house are very kind people and would dearly love your kittens, cried all the dolls. After a great deal of persuasion, Mama Cat finally consented. Ragged Anne took two of the kittens and carried them to the house while Mama Cat carried the other. In the morning, when Marcella came to the nursery, the first thing she saw were the three little kittens. She cried out in delight and carried them all to show Mama and Daddy. Mama and Daddy said the kittens could stay in the nursery. Marcela finally decided upon three names. Prince Charming for the white kitten, Cinderella the maltise, Princess Golden for the kitty with the yellow stripes. So that is how the three little kittens came to live in the nursery. I'm done, Daddy. Okay. Don't forget to wipe, flush, and wash your hands. Now, we have to wipe ourselves, Teddy. I'll show you how. Wipe, wipe, wipe yourself. Always front to back. Now we [Music] wear wow. Yeah. So that was phenomenal. And I, you know, I rewatched it uh this morning and like I was like, "Oh my god, I know all these songs. They're in my DNA." And so the show happened and Mr. Penders uh showed up. His his real name is Harden uh Miner, I think. And like I said, he is a local um he's not a celebrity, but he he's done a lot with the arts and dramatic arts. And he's a real character. is I met him and his wife and uh here's a picture of me with him. Super exciting. Uh I was really excited. This like it's it's ludicrous, but yeah, very excited by him. Um and what he did during the the thing is they introduced him. He came out of the crowd. He answered some questions. Then he got the entire audience to sing the super duper pooper song. They he had everybody stand up and kind of march and do the super duper pooper song. So um it was a wonderful night. Um he said that he's still in communication with the the father in the in the thing who actually sings Super Duper Pooper. Jeff Johnson I think is his name. And he said, "Well, maybe we can do like a reunion show." So, I'm hoping to participate in that. Um, and maybe try to find some of the kids and if they've grown up and uh yeah, so uh unfortunately uh because of that and because of this uh it's very late at night right now um and I'm very tired. But, uh that's that's it for the show today. So, it's a shorter show, but we will make up for it tomorrow, Tuesday. Um, but I appreciate you guys tuning in.
