is is is that is hi everybody uh I'm SK Alzheimer welcome to the a Geeks lunchtime streaming show where we watch old 16 mm films and that was uh continuation of what we started watching yesterday of the Simon uh home movies [Music] [Music] living things need food to stay alive that's why you eat but your body must first change that food into a form that your cells can use [Music] it's feeding time at the [Music] zoo eating is the beginning of a process that brings nutrients to the cells of a living organism coffee that's right they know it's lunchtime nutrients are part of the food that living things eat living things have to eat to stay alive zoo animals don't have much choice of what they eat or when they eat you do sometimes just seeing food or smelling it or remembering how it tastes may make you want to eat that food whether you're hungry or not but when you really need to eat your body lets you know with those hunger pains in your stomach that's your body's way of telling you that you need some food it doesn't tell you what kind of food you need the choices are up to you and you have a lot more choices than the zoo animals [Music] do it certainly isn't news to you that you eat many different kinds of food your different kinds of teeth help you do this they're not all the same your front teeth have thin edges teeth on either side of them are pointed your back teeth are wider and flatter these different shapes let your teeth do the different jobs that different foods require your front teeth help you slice through food and break it into small pieces they're like the teeth of animals that help them gnaw your pointed teeth help you tear tough foods like meat those teeth are like the sharp tearing teeth of animals that eat only meat carnivores your flat teeth help you grind food they're like the back teeth of animals that eat only plants [Music] herbivores your teeth let you eat both meat and plants your teeth are more like those we find in animals we call omnivores animals that eat all kinds of food to change the solid food we eat into a form that our cells can make use of we have to chew it this is the beginning of digestion which mostly takes place in a long food tube inside your body food enters the food tube through your mouth passes through your esophagus and into your stomach there the digesting food passes into your small intestine then large intestine and what your body can't digest passes out the end of the food tube let's see now how your food moves through this long food tube and what happens to it during the process of digestion to get food moving through your food tube you swallow swallowing takes food from your mouth into your esophagus and then down through your esophagus into your stomach although the movement is downward it isn't caused by the Earth's gravity If gravity moved food down your esophagus astronauts in orbit wouldn't be able to eat very well but they managed to swallow nicely because swallowing is done through the action of the muscles in the esophagus your esophagus like the other parts of your food tube have two sets of muscles that work together one set is made up of circular muscles that go around the tube the other set is made up of muscles that run along the length of the food tube these are called longitudinal muscles while one set of muscles contracts the other set relaxes that makes parts of the tube shorten and lengthen rhythmically so when you swallow the food gets squeezed along muscles move your food through the esophagus and then into your stomach in your stomach most of the important chemical parts of digestion take place although this is already begun in your mouth while your teeth cut the food into small pieces your saliva causes some chemical changes to take place your saliva and then the liquids we call digestive juices in your stomach help change the nutrients in your food into simpler substances in your stomach some of the nutrients are broken down into smaller and smaller parts until you wouldn't recognize them as food anymore they're tiny molecules now just the size your cells need in order to make the other molecules they need but before your cells can use nutrients the nutrients have to be absorbed into your blood this happens as your food moves through the next part of your food tube the small intestine it's called small because of it diameter not because of its length it's about 20 ft long the inside of the small intestine is very wrinkled with finger-like parts sticking out called Villi nutrient molecules move out of the small intestine through the Vil this is called absorption the molecules move through cell walls of the Villi into a network of blood vessels these are called capillaries the blood flowing through these capillaries carries the nutrients to the cells that form all parts of your body the nutrients move out of your blood into your cells where they are used in chemical reactions some of the chemical reactions release energy other chemical reactions allow the cells to grow and repair themselves and to manufacture substances used in other parts of your body the only parts of food that your body can use are the nutrients your body has to get rid of the other parts the contraction and expansion of the muscles of your small intestine keep what's left of your food moving out of that part of your food tube into the next part the large intestine it's about twice as large in diameter as the small intestine but much shorter all the parts of the food you've eaten that haven't been digested are collected here and eventually they'll pass out of your body even after you've finished eating the process of digestion and absorption continues using the nutrients in the food you eat and getting rid of the rest you probably won't be hungry again for about 4 hours that's how long it will take the food to move out of your stomach it's clear that what you eat is very important because your cells need certain nutrients for you to stay healthy just as the cells of all living things do here in a zoo where the animals don't have any choice of what they eat nutritionist make sure they get the nutrients they need that's what eating a balanced diet is all about zoo animals get taken care of but people can make a lot of their own decisions about what they eat [Music] the cells of an organism use the nutrients and food for growth and repair and the energy to stay active digestion and absorption get nutrients to your body's cells but what a living thing eats determines whether it cells will get those nutrients they need so that an organism and that means you can grow and stay healthy and active eating we'll eat when we get home okay just watch more [Music] the food tube um I'd much rather be able to broadcast our lunchtime streaming show on Food Tu versus YouTube I think food tube would be better I just feel like it would be better um so one of the things I noticed at the beginning of that is and maybe you noticed it too is the title was too dark it was like black type over an image and that and we've run across this before with some other films and generally those films are in really good shape and my feeling is that those are test prints where they basically test uh to make sure that the color is great correctly that the edits are good and so a film lab would make that then send it to the client and the client would go through and approve I'm guessing I don't know that for sure but we've run across a number of these where the title is black and we have a print where the title is is a different color it's white or yellow or whatever and so that's roughly what I'm thinking uh and and that's also why this film doesn't have a lot of wear on it is because it was probably only watched once or twice and not even on a projector probably on a flat pit so that's my guess uh let's learn about Italy uh the land and the people this is the second edition Enjoy [Music] we would like to welcome you to our country Italia Italy come with us and see the land that was once the center of the Roman Empire to understand Italy it helps to know that we have three principal and distinctive regions there is Northern Italy including the po valley and surrounding Alps here you see the Western coastal region and here mountainous central and southern Italy including Sicily one of our islands and Sardinia the other in the central region are the appenines a mountain range which we some times call the backbone of Italy let's begin our tour of Italy in the appenine mountains in the appenines there is very little summer rainfall it's rugged land some areas are so Steep and Rocky that even in this age of mechanization a farmer must use animals for power farming is De difficult in these hot dry lands of the mountain is South a farmer needs all the help he can get so a large family is almost a necessity the manusos here make their own spaghetti and bread from the wheat they raise many Farm families in the South use most of what they grow each region has its own special recipes but spaghetti is popular everywhere in Italy tomatoes are also grown and used in many ways the white grapes they eat but from their red grapes Mountain families can make wine which is a common mealtime drink for Italians olives are eaten and also made into olive oil for use in salads but mostly for cooking the manusos eat and work together family life is very important to us the appon mountains run north and south the full length of Aon they end in the south at the tip of the boot and then a short distance offshore is the mountainous island of Sicily across the straight of mesina on Sicily especially along the northern and Eastern coasts there are fertile Plains here we have Orchards of orange and lemon trees growing on irrigated land where many people work all year round high above the co coastal plains of sic is Mount Etna Etna is an active volcano when it erops it gives off sulfur as well as other chemicals Italians have mined sulfur from around Mount ethna for several hundred years sulfur was once Sicily's only important mineral resource but today oil wells have brought new money to the island from Sicily let's go to our other large island Sardinia almost 400 kilm away the people who live on Sardinia use much of the land for grazing their sheep and goats there is not much industry here although there is a source of power this Dam provides Sardinia with electricity which has helped some industry develop but even so here and in the central and southern mountain regions of Italy most people are involved in agriculture many of the products of the islands and of southern Italy go to the Port City Napoli in English you say Naples here in our Western coastal region the farmlands are very productive although we get little rain here we can eat irrigate because the land is generally flat many of the crops we raise here will be sold at outdoor markets in Naples Naples is the regional center for this area you can see that we grow many kinds of fruits and vegetables some of the produce like these Tomatoes will be shipped for processing at local plants this particular shipment will be made into tomato paste Our tomato paste is packaged for use here and for export all over the world because Italy is a member of the Common Market much will be sent to other member nations like England or France Naples is one of our busiest ports South across the Bay of Naples you can see mount suas this is the only active volcano on the mainland of Europe where there has been volcanic action in Italy the soil is very rich north of Vesuvius pipes are sunk deep into the Earth to bring up volcanic steam this geothermal energy is used to generate electricity another way we produce electricity is by using nuclear energy at this this Generating Station there is a nuclear reactor that has been providing us with electric power for many years in the area along our western coast there are many large cities besides Naples in Italian we call them Roma lorno and [Music] Fen this highway is called the new appan way it links many important cities as highways usually do for much of its length it runs beside the ancient aan way this Old Road was built more than 2,000 years ago it was one of many that joined together various parts of the Roman Empire of course the capital of that ancient empire was Rome the capital of modern Italy Rome is the largest city in Italy it is built on low Hill Fields the Tyber River Winds through them not only is Rome the center of our government but it's also the center of Commerce and transportation business is important to us of course this jet airport outside Rome is one sign of that but the name of the airport tells you something else about Italy we named it for Leonardo DaVinci a world famous Italian artist DaVinci was a genius of the Italian Renaissance a great period in the history of art this is his self-portrait made near the end of his life art has an important place in our lives partly because of DaVinci he worked in many areas he was an architect a brilliant military engineer and designer but most of all Leonardo was an artist a painter all of his work will be remembered but especially this portrait Da Vinci's Mona Lisa is one of the world's best known [Music] paintings another Italian Renaissance genius who helped make our so important to us is Michelangelo this is his self-portrait and this is one of his many paintings the Holy [Music] Family Michelangelo was also a sculptor his great knowledge of anatomy guided him as he carved his 15t masterpiece P David in David we can see the Perfection of human form that Michelangelo [Music] sought Michelangelo like Leonardo da Vinci was also an architect he designed the Dome of this building St Peter's Basilica which still stands in Vatican City in Rome today the Vatican is still the center of the Roman Catholic Church as it was in Michelangelo's day Rome has changed a lot since then the suburbs have grown far beyond the old city but north of Rome Across the Western coastal region in central Italy is the City of Florence which looks much as it did when Michelangelo lived there 500 years ago Florence is on the Arno river which flows through the productive Arno Valley the valley is famous for its Vineyards we often take the wine and other products of this region to the port city of leghorn there is another important Valley region north of here let's look at our map again and move to the po valley now we are in the industrial and agricultural heart of Italy here in in the north are the major cities of Milano Torino and genua the Long Valley of the Po River is sheltered from cold North winds by the Alps this is why the climate is so mild here the po valley which we sometimes call the Lombardi Plains is our most productive farming region wheat is the most important Cal crop of Italy and of this region too Farmers from miles around bring their wheat to Central collection points for threshing we also grow rice here but it needs irrigation wheat can be dry farmed Orchards of mulberry trees are also very common in Northern Italy mulberry leaves are fed to silk worms from their cocoons comes fiber for Italian silk silk has compet ition now synthetics natural and synthetic fabrics are manufactured in the textile mills of Northern Italy some of the cloth manufactured here is made into clothing designed by Italian fashion designers we also manufacture Fabrics from cotton and wool Milan is the center of our textile industry it is the largest city of our industrial North Milan has a much more modern look than Florence each region in Italy has its own architectural flavor each its own customs and traditions Milan Turin and Genoa make up what is often called the industrial triangle of Northern Italy our Industries run on electric power much of it comes from the Alps where dams across Mountain Streams help us generate Hydro electric power we have another source of energy in the north there's natural gas in the po valley so we have energy for manufacturing goods and a fine system of Roads too like this one between Milan and Turin which is a center of heavy industry steel and other metals are produced in tourin we import our raw materials this is a test track for an automobile Factory in t in the plant they make cars that are sold in our own country and also exported all over the world the industries of the north have attracted many workers to our Northern cities they come to places like tourin to find work in factories and offices population has grown very much in these cities so we've built many apartment units like these in Turin some of the products manufactured in the industrial cities of the north will be shipped by train to other countries that belong to the European economic Community as Italy does this is the common market we mentioned earlier Italy was a founding member of this organization for shipments overseas products can go to Italy's busiest port Genoa while today Genoa is the major port city of Italy several hundred years ago Venice on the East Coast held that position Venice venea as we call it with its canals gandas beautiful buildings and art is one of Italy's most popular tourist C the canals of Venice reflect the Italy of the past the Italy of today has a new look ours is a country rich in Regional Traditions but still firmly involved in the future perhaps someday you will con see for yourself [Music] uh so do you think the narrators of that film were Italian or were they just um affecting an Italian accent I go back and forth but after a while I got really annoyed like I was like just shut up like I I prefer when they take a film and they do kind of a look at a given country or land uh when they kind of have a little narrative That Gets You Through the the story um we like follow uh Papito as he goes through BL I don't know just something about that was was particularly cloying for me beautiful footage though uh in a personal anecdote I was at the Leonardo D venci airport and there was an earthquake um I was coming back from Albania it was uh I was exhausted because we had to get the airport at like 2:00 in the morning to fly out and I was in the food court of the Leonardo D Vinci airport and I was a friend of mine was going to get get us coffee and and pastries and I looked and I heard this kind of sound and looked over at the gift shop and some thing fell over and people were like freaking out and I was like what's going on and I was like oh it's an earthquake wow that's crazy so anyways that's my earthquake story all right uh so behind me I have a film scanner and uh I was going to show you the film help police your neighborhood but it's a Fat Albert film and I am not eager to um deal with the banhammer again so um we're going to skip that and we're going to go to something that's probably more provocative might have some curse words uh it is a police training film called hostage negotiation for police this is a how-to film for police officers uh and those films tend to be a little gritty um and hopefully I won't have to stop it or interrupt it because uh of Gore or um intenseness I I have a feeling you guys can take it but there might be some cursing cuz that's a police the opportunity for a successful outcome by his initial actions if the job is done right the offender is contained once he's located first officers take positions of Maximum observation to block escape the inner perimeter all you people move let's go hurry up come on run civilian movement near the barricade is brought to a stop and all adjoining locations cleared move move move those who are caught within the inner perimeter are evacuated to a safe area outside the line of fire up the street 5 41 to headquarters this unit is a command frequency is designated and Communications between all Personnel is established at the earliest possible moment further when we have set up phone communication as crime scene investigators arrive at the staging area to log and photograph the incident they receive assignments from the command post leader got a command post set up on the second floor a rifle and an AR15 and if you have tactical teams usually they'll move in to strengthen the inner perimeter with invisible deployment rear of the bank and on a roof we're going to use this as a staging area park your ambulance over here command post is a half a block down walkietalkie frequency one I'll be at the command post I'm at the command post now an overall command post is established where all Personnel movement and relief Personnel are coordinated beyond the command post is the Outer Perimeter designed to keep anyone not involved in the operation far away and out of danger okay folks come on let's back it up please news reporters are channeled directly and only to a media liaison officer at the Outer Perimeter this reduces the spread of false rumors and keeps the Press from penetrating the inner perimeter where television cameras too close to the scene can reveal police tactics you also avoid releasing the suspect's name and address to the Press you of course want to minimize people other than police from calling the suspect the first responding officers are relieved as soon as it's safe and Report directly to the command post for debriefing on the outside the tactical response usually stabilizes relatively quickly but on the inside that's only the beginning because somewhere near the inner perimeter another group of officers have another kind of job to try to talk the offender or offenders into releasing their hostages and themselves without further violence and we call that hostage negotiation stand1 on subject we feel there two suspects held up in there uh your own experience tells you that every situation is going to be different different locations different causes different endings two of the fellas One black one white one on with a machine gun one on with a handgun as a result there are hundreds of ideas about how to handle negotiations certainly every negotiator is different but some procedures and principles are basically the same right from the start officers and detectives move in to gather intelligence on the offenders from all possible sources fixed you got a good phone here got a good phone okay George and first of all this gu put around through the door so we got to be very careful I got a call here disturbance I spoke to the guy wants the house on top of that negotiators want to know exactly where the suspects are nigga's name is lamit okay I hear a lot of ruckus up there sound like they're wrecking the place up there out of get out of here and leave me [Music] alone five adved New York registration 582 Queen Robert Edward checks back to subject Thomas jines don't want license numbers of all vehicles in the area are checked out to help identify Suspects on the right side of the house there is a chimney with electrical service entering to the side of intelligence gathering includes a description of the exterior of the building and what can be seen of the Interior constructing our view to the rear of the house but there seems to be a door leading into a patio which may be the only Escape Route you copy if you're observing a residence it's often possible to identify Escape Routes location of water and electrical service and if you're lucky a floor plan of the house this theme is in position on the E east side of the house we have two windows in Clear View on the top floor counting from the top down the first window is just south of the chimney the second window is just south of that about 10 to 15 ft it appears to be open about 4 to 5 Ines from the bottom and we see no action in the windows at this time 12 years old she's been kidnapped kidnapped by who ma'am my husband husband what's his name man Thomas Thomas Thomas ches oh please he came here Intelligence on suspects and hostages is also gathered from interviews with relatives friends neighbors Witnesses and employers can't you what type of car do you haveon white it's an old4 record checks and psychological and medical histories are also important resources for intelligence gathering and for considering negotiating options pretty sure that they're confined to the Alexander Bo yes still there are many other questions you want to know the answers to in dealing with the hostage taker basically we got a bank stick up with are there telephones or other ways of communicating what hostages are involved who are they do any have medical problems uh what I'd like you to do is uh take this down take a bullhorn and a walk an early physical and clothing description of the suspect is also important because it later can become a description by someone else of the hostage suspects have been known to switch clothes with the hostage to test your willingness to hold fire godam it shot and yet once the situation is stabilized The Negotiator needs to establish immediate contact regardless of how much information has been acquired there anybody up there with them in this case he believes he can establish contact at the bottom of a staircase but out of the line of fire on the phone you handle a dialogue from here if we can establish contact in this case they're starting the very first contact by phone with the here you have face-to-face Communications sometimes unavoidable and often the most challenging and sometimes there's no easy way to establish Communications here police had to wait until suspects allowed a hostage to come out and pick up a portable radio here a hostage bound hand and foot had to retrieve a tele telephone line in his teeth in this situation A man barricaded himself in a men's room with a hostage and refused to talk a detective's note passed under the door finally broke the suspect silence if we do establish contact let's find out how many hostages we have the point is that The Negotiator knows he must be persistent in establishing Communications any way he can and just who is the negotiator in touch with Jerry too on a walkie talkie in many cases it's an experienced first officer on the scene is that going to solve the problem a hostage situation may arise from virtually any call and officer encounters Mr Lambert Mr Lambert this is detective DeMarco some departments use detectives because of their experience interviewing a wide variety of personalities are you all right is there anybody up there with you larger departments may have trained negotiator teams usually with the rank of lieutenant or higher they study profiles of previous offenders they practice roleplaying and self-defense they learn to use electronic monitoring and recording equipment but basically The Negotiator is one with common sense a genuine concern for helping people in crisis and the ability to communicate with that gun waving at mad and he took and certainly there have been incidents when people other than police have been successful in negotiating you may want to talk to a close friend or relative legally separated didn't he was very abusive to me I didn't want him around her it's very bad influence on her and he knows it whether The Negotiator will let that happen depends on the personalities involved and the history of their relationship you sure Lor's all right Lor's all right the last thing The Negotiator needs is someone whose presence would further upset the suspect I'm the one who should be talking to him let me talk to him please let me see what I can do and I will get back to you I know how to handle him back that car I'll kill you I will get back in there obviously you're words of the negotiation are critical if you are face to face maintaining eye contact is also critical it's plenty wrong you don't rush into conversation or start by asking what he wants this sets a bad precedent for your strategy later you respond to his opening statements body language is an important consideration too you want to be close enough to be person personal but not so close you crowd him you also want to stay near your radio behind cover and never with your back to the suspect sometimes a Second Officer can be a negotiator if negotiations break down or fatigue sets in a second negotiator should be available but out of contact with the suspect this prevents him from shopping for a better deal from another officer only one negotiator at a time if you don't get out of here I'm going to give you what I gave the other guy whoever does become The Negotiator head better be calm emotionally stable and function under psychological and physical pressure he has to be the kind of officer who doesn't flare up or get mad when things get unpleasant because chances are they will Bo we got to get out of here come on now The Negotiator shouldn't become distracted from finding out who has emerged as the leader because this is the one you want to influence after studies of hundreds of H cases we know at first the suspect is usually extremely excitable where's that phone who is it it's the police cops good his mind is going a mile a minute he's frustrated because he wants something he can't have escape and I can blow him away anytime I want anytime you listen to that now that's serious May brag on and on about his power and threatened to do almost anything we're not going to do anything we just The Negotiator of course listens bu [ __ ] me now just listen you listen cop what's the problem the problem the problem is that [ __ ] wife of mine that's the problem this is what the hostage taker wants what can you do about it listening provides a chance to evaluate the person he's dealing with a chance to get a feel for the truth about the suspect's motivations demands and emotional stability see what she's done never mind about my daughter I want my wife that's my daughter I got her you can't stop me to cour can no one can isling that SL wife of mine and The Negotiator responds the same way you would not only listening to what the suspect says but also listening to voice quality for stress lying and rationality kill and they get away with it let him go go let me out of here come on now I killed some of these people and if you've established telephone contact try to keep him on the line sometimes you won't always be able to how many people are in there get uh eight eight eight you don't want to keep those people how the suspect is evaluated is crucial to the negotiations simply because the negotiator's gut feeling combined with intelligence give him some idea about what might or might not work with a suspect no matter what my name is just do something that's all you just listen that's all we ran the plate number of the abandoned car to the computer and it's Herz rental was rented in the name of Robert Burns he's also has an associate that he's done prior jobs with who I feel also fits the description of the other suspect these are two special agents from the FBI dick and Rodriguez and here are the surveillance follow from the bank oh great they look good that looks good for that guy that looks good for his partner I think that's them we'll have to get get these photographs out to the surveillance people make sure that they have an idea what these guys look like listen we can't get a plane down here you know we can't get a plane landing in the middle of the street we got overhead lines we got traffic we've got the FAA why you talk about something we can help you with that's not reasonable are you there this is Don give me your car and get it down here fast and get us some your initial response to demands is a key factor in how the suspect sizes up your ability to deliver all right listen I got to check with my boss on something like that I I can't promise you a car to negotiate means to bargain in order to reach an agreement therefore The Negotiator has to avoid Extremes in replying to the suspect all right I'll see what I can do but there's no rush to reject the demand is one extreme the other is to promise to deliver something outrageous the criminal expects you to con him so if you're obviously honoring his unreasonable demand he'll that's all he is what about the personality you're dealing with if they were terrorists experience shows they take hostages with planning and for a specific political cause terrorist negotiations can be extremely complex and and their demands can be unending as you can see here terrorist situations require more than just one officer to negotiate in some incidents robbers may speak the rhetoric of terrorists but only to camouflage their criminal intentions in a few cases police have negotiated a hostage situation inside a jail or in a prison here the suspect is already contained but often will bargain for the release of other inmates or for reform okay he said nobody's sick in there and now we want some food if dealing with criminals caught in the act The Negotiator knows that his best bet is to create an environment where suspects are given time to cool off yeah okay let's see if we can give him as much as he want in line of food because only then will they be able to realistically to escape by taking hostages he sees himself in control usually the hostages will not be harmed even though he's excited but that's what we've been doing we've talking about we talking about the sandwiches where the hell are the sandwiches The Negotiator never tells the suspect that some type of compromise is impossible if he did the suspect may feel he has no choice but to go through with his threats and if he's excited enough he just may do it and that's why even though at first there's a show of force to contain him it's probably not a good idea to keep crowding him unfortunately when hostage situations occur without a department policy every offic officer within 100 miles wants to get into the ACT if a criminal takes a hostage for escape someone who's reacting to unbearable stress often takes a hostage for what he's getting right now a lot of attention for example this man's father died of cancer he was so Disturbed and hurt he took a hostage to tell the whole world to stop smoking this guy was so frustrated he took a hostage to demand 100,000 jobs for the poor in either case there was of of course a better way but the point is that at that moment the offender didn't see one even while standing on top of a fuel tank there are a lot of theories about this kind of hostage taker but studies of the offenders themselves have shown they have some things in common after years of failure confusion and fear a truly Disturbed person often sees only the need to take some kind of drastic action to stop the hurt in his own mind this is the only way to prove to himself and those close to to him that he should be taken seriously did you get it what's taking one technique to use with this type of personality is to interrupt his train of thought ask him something different from the subject at hand this makes him stop and think Lu you getting excited again do me a favor it's hot how about turning off the car no I'm not turning off the car come on turn off the car you're wasting gas that's the first right thing you said today that I'm wasting gas okay in an odd way the presence of a crowd in the police at Bay proves him right he's getting attention it feels good makes him bold just try and calm yourself a little bit maybe we can resolve an offender like this experiences a sense of power that is rare in his life but because he is basically maladjusted he doesn't know how to get out of his mess gracefully without losing what he was trying to prove in the first place he may try to manipulate circumstances to his Advantage with lies or rhetoric crowds are kept back and out of sight as soon as possible to reduce his need to stand tough before an audience whether the suspect deserves it or not The Negotiator gives him what he wants attention his dignity and a way out but she's got to see what she's do okay all right we're making an effort to contact her it's going to take some time good luck you're not going to get her she's and sometimes that means making Minor Adjustments as long as they don't make you vulnerable radio weird it just ends it just Fades to Black and then that's it h that's weird very strange uh anyways quite a journey quite a journey with that film uh and I love police training films um because they are so salty and so um gritty and they talk about how to deal with people uh who have bad behavior including other police officers that's that's what's really great to watch and unfortunately I don't know if uh films like this exist exist and are being shown to those that police it kind of doesn't
