Hello everybody. I'm Skip Alzheimer. Welcome to the AV Geeks lunchtime streaming show where we watch old 16 mm films. And right off the bat, I broke a rule and showed some stuff from 35mm. Uh this is I'm not quite sure what this is. Um we can look it up while I'm talking. Uh this is from the National Archives and we've been doing a big project where we've been pulling stuff uh from their collection online and have been um uploading it to the internet archive uh in case something happens. Uh so this is uh described as on their site as library stockshot 240. So, there's no description. It looked like it was uh some training uh for the military, but I don't think it was US. Um maybe European. I'm not sure. I don't know. Maybe some of you can chime in and say, "Oh, I recognize that little banner that guy was holding," or whatever. In the meantime, here is another uh '9s cornet film. And you can tell it's 90s because of the soundtrack. There's a weird opening that has a little uh it's an opening just for cornet, which is a weird thing. Um, and then there's obvious video effects at the beginning. So, this was some of this was probably edited on uh some sort of video editor, like an old school video editor, and then dumped to film. So, here's Biomes Tundra. Enjoy. [Music] [Music] [Music] A biome is a community of living things, the vegetation that develops in a certain climate region and the animal life that has become adapted to it. Among the major biomes on Earth, one of the most difficult for living things is the tundra. The Arctic tundra forms a belt around the north polar regions of the world from the coniferous forests of Asia, Europe, and North America to the icy Arctic Ocean. Temperatures in the tundra are low year round, and the growing season is short. Less than 5 in of precipitation falls each year. mostly in the form of snow. Only one kind of large mammal lives year round in the tundra, the muskox. A musk ox's massive body produces much heat and loses that heat slowly. Its layered fur is one of the best natural insulators found among mammals. Arctic foxes also grow layered fur. Their short ears and white coats also help reduce heat loss. They can survive in the open at 40 below. In tunnels under the snow that lemmings build, temperatures are never much below freezing. [Music] Lemmings are the favorite food of foxes and most other Arctic predators and breed in large numbers. Some birds can also survive the winter cold of the tundra. Willow tarmmagans keep warm by roosting in snow banks. They feed on the tiny dwarf willow, one of the few woody plants of the tundra. The willow tarmaggan, like the arctic fox, turns white in winter. This helps to hide the birds from predators as well as slowing their heat [Music] loss. By April, the days are getting longer, but not until June does the temperature rise above freezing. Shallow soil layer cracks as it thaws. [Music] Now the tundra is transformed into a vast waterlogged plane of ponds and marshes. Under this is a deep layer of soil that never thaws called the perafrost. Melt water cannot drain through the perafrost and so it collects in countless ponds, lakes and marshes. No tall trees are found here because the perafrost prevents any deep roots from forming the trees need. As spring continues, the hours of daylight increase until over much of the tundra, the sun never sets. Now, in the short summer, seeds that survive the winter germinate. Tundra plants flower and produce seeds during the 6 weeks or so when the temperature stays above freezing. This allows plants to complete their entire life cycles before the return of winter. The summer flush of plant growth increases the food available for tundra animals. The muskoxin that had to paw the snow to get it plants now have plenty to eat. As the food supply increases, the number of lemmings increases, providing food for predators like the snowy owl. [Music] [Music] Owls build their nests in places where they can find the most [Music] lemmings. The more the lemmings multiply, the more food the owl has to feed its young. In the summer, when food is abundant, many animals move north to the tundra. Great herds of caribou move in a mass migration from the conifer. Water fowl migrate thousands of miles to raise their young in the [Music] tundra. Because there are no trees in this biome, only ground nesting species like the Arctic loon can [Music] survive. However, on the ground, eggs are vulnerable to predators like the Arctic fox. [Music] [Applause] now. The ponds teem with insect life. Mosquito eggs that survived the winter frozen under the snow and ice have hatched into larve. They hang head downward from the water's surface, breathing through their tails. They will soon become adults, and within hours, the tundra will be swarming with millions of blood sucking mosquitoes. The appearance of these swarms of adult insects occurs at the same time that insect eating birds hatch. Birds who nest here include the Lapland longspur. [Music] The golden plver has flown 8,000 miles from Argentina to raise her chicks [Music] here. Food is so abundant that ruddy turnstone chicks peck their own food from nearby vegetation. The newly born cubs of the Arctic fox grow rapidly in the brief summer of abundance. Animals like the ground squirrel store food and put on as much fat as possible. This is the only tundra animal that hibernates. By August, the summer begins drawing rapidly to an [Music] end. Some plants, like these grasses, produce fluffy seed coverings. The seeds will be dispersed by the wind and lie dormant until the return of [Music] summer. The growing season is over. As the days grow short, the land can no longer support its summer population. The temperature is dropping. The food supply diminishing. Now the caribou gather and begin their migration back to the forest south of the tundra. Vast flocks of geese set off on transcontinental flights to the south. [Applause] [Music] [Music] The hours of daylight grow [Music] shorter. The animals that remain face months of cold and darkness as winter grips the tundra again. [Music] [Music] Woo! [Music] So, I'm microwaving some ravioli. Um, so it'll go off pretty soon. But, uh, yeah, I was wrong. 1989. Um, I just have been, we scanned a bunch of stuff that was from the '9s, and that was definitely more contemporary. I think the raviolis are exploding. Uh, case in point, here's uh, another installation of uh, understanding weather. I think this is right. Hold on. I want to make sure I'm not showing this one again. Um, let's see. One second. because I would hate to show you an understanding weather that we have already seen. So, we watch precipitation and we watch storms. So, now we're going to watch winds. Enjoy. [Music] Wesley calling Wesley. The Weather Bureau of Investigation is calling Wesley. Are you there, Wesley? This is Wesley, sir. Are you ready for another day of training? Yes, sir. You're doing well, Wesley. Soon you'll be a real agent like all of us at the WBI, not just an agent in training. What is my assignment today, sir? Wins. Wesley, come in, please. Wesley. Yes, sir. How's your study of wind going? Well, you've given me a very oops difficult assignment, sir. I have. Well, if I may say so, sir, it's very difficult to study something that's invisible. Air is invisible whether it's moving or not. Yes, I know. So, you can't see the wind. So, what have you been doing these past several days? Observing the wind, sir. But in the only way I can, not by watching the wind, but by watching what it does. A good solution, Wesley. Any conclusions? Did you get the videotape I sent in yesterday? Yes. If you would show it on my Weather Watch channel, I'd be glad to explain what I've observed so far about the wind. I spent some time in the city watching the wind blowing. It was easy to see the wind's effect on things near the ground. Things blew one way, then they blew the other way. The wind seemed to keep changing directions. Of course, with all the buildings in the city, I guess the moving air doesn't have a clear path. It has to go around things. I guess that could change the wind's direction. Very good thinking, Wesley. And then I spent some time in the open country. The wind didn't seem to change direction as much there. Probably because there weren't so many buildings. And then I looked up at the clouds. They were moving. A wind must have been blowing them. That just reminded me that winds blow above the ground. And generally wind speed increases with height. We've speeded up your tape to emphasize that fact. Well, that's my report so far, sir. Keep watching your weather watch, Wesley. I have something else to show you from our video files. Is that a passenger jet? Yes. It's about 7 miles up. Listen to the captain speaking. We'll be cruising at an altitude of 35,000 ft. Our flight time to New York will be only 3 hours because the jetream will be giving us a strong tailwind. Any questions, Wesley? Yes, sir. The jetream? That's a new one on me. What is it? I hoped you'd ask. At high altitudes, usually higher than where you see clouds, there are narrow currents of fastm moving air. Winds? Yes, winds, called jet streams, move generally toward the east at high speeds, sometimes as fast as 250 mph. Wow, sir, that's a lot stronger than the winds that were blowing in the city or the country or out here right now. But sir, I have a question about the wind. Yes, Wesley. I knew the wind blows at different speeds and in different directions, but what starts the wind blowing in the first place? I was hoping you'd ask, Wesley. Hop on your bike and pedal over to our WBI substation just up the road. They'll give you a special instrument when you arrive. Take it into the lunchroom kitchen. I'm in the kitchen, sir. Is this the special instrument they were supposed to give me? It's just a toy. A pin wheel. Yes. Uh, just a little joke, Wesley. But the pin wheel will do the job quite well. What job, sir? You'll see, Wesley. First, blow on it and tell me what [Music] [Applause] happens. Blowing on it makes it turn, sir. I knew that moving air turns the pin wheel. Yes. Which means the pin wheel can function nicely as a detector of moving air. A wind detector. That's quite right, Wesley. Well, is it very windy in the kitchen now? Windy? No, sir. Not a breeze stirring. A calm day in the kitchen. Yes, sir. Why don't you walk over to the big oven? The oven? Yes, sir. It's hot. I asked the receptionist to turn it on while you were riding over there. Hold your pin wheel just above the oven and open the door slowly. The pin wheel's moving, sir. Now, Wesley, is the air in the oven the same temperature as the air in the kitchen? No, sir. The oven air is warmer. Any conclusions from your observations, Wesley? Well, it seems like Yes. It seems that when air at one temperature comes in contact with air at another temperature, that can make air start moving. That can make winds. Yes, very good, Wesley. Winds are caused by temperature differences in the air. So, an oven could cause temperature differences in a kitchen, but outdoors. Outdoors there is something that can change the temperature of things. I guess that must be the sun. That's quite right, Wesley. And uneven heating by the sun will result in temperature differences. Uneven heating? Yes. You're at Lookout Point, aren't you? Yes, sir. I'm at the edge of a cliff overlooking the ocean. And what do you observe and the shore? Is everything you see in the sunlight? Yes, sir. So, I guess that can't be an example of uneven heating, can it? Yes, it can be. And it is. For instance, the ocean heats up more slowly than the nearby land. So, even though both are getting the same amount of sunlight, the land will heat up more than the water. But what about the air? The sun's heating all the air the same, isn't it? Not really. Uh, you see, it's not the sun that has the most direct effect on the temperature of the air. Air is mostly heated by whatever is under it. So if the land is heated more than the water, the air directly over the land will be warmer than the air directly over the water. And what happens is that the warmer air over the land rises. That allows the cooler air from the ocean to move in under the rising air and take its place. Moving air, that's wind. And there is a wind blowing from the ocean toward the land. I can feel it. And I can see the trees moving, too. Now you've observed the effect of uneven heating over small areas. Let me show you uneven heating over a large area. Pedal over to the spaceport. It's just a few miles away. There's a shuttle about to be launched, and I want you to be on it. I'll let them know you're coming. [Music] getting the angles out, but I got them in to use them before we run. Roger. Pitch 212 y. [Applause] Oh, sorry. Wesley, how are you doing? Kind of okay, sir. This is my first time in zero G. Well, grab hold of something and have a good look at the Earth down there through one of the windows. Wow, Earth is beautiful and round, too. Like a ball. Yes, sir. I knew that. But I can't see all of it now. But just glance at your weather watch. Oh, yes. Now it looks more like a ball. But did you know that the Earth is heated unevenly by the sun? Really, sir? Regions at the poles don't get as much energy from the sun as regions at the equator do. Oh, sure. I knew that. Be a lot colder than That's quite right. So, there must be a wind that blows from the north pole toward the equator. Well, there would be except that the Earth's rotation changes things. I can explain what happens more effectively on Earth rather than out there in space. So, I'll have a sailboat waiting for you at the dock when the mission is completed. How soon will that be, sir? In about a week. Oh, has your stomach settled down yet, Wesley? Just about, sir. Well, I hope this little trip out on the ocean won't cause you any problems. Me, too, sir. Any observations concerning the wind? Well, the wind seems to be blowing steadily in pretty much one direction from the east. And if you stayed in this part of the ocean for a long time, you'd find that the wind's direction never changes much. That's because you're in a system of winds that blow almost all year from the same direction. Certain wind patterns happen often enough that they're given special names. You're in the system of winds called the trade winds. They're rather gentle winds. Now, I've instructed the captain to sail northward so you could observe a different system, the westerlys. They blow in the opposite direction and are much stronger and uneven. Will there be stronger wind there? Rougher seas? Probably yes, Wesley. Is that going to cause a problem? I believe so, sir. Do we really have to go? Well, maybe not. I think I can explain the various systems in about a minute with a map. Oh, thank you, sir. Observe your weather watch. Here's the Earth, the poles, the equator. You're about here now. In this band that reaches almost down to the equator, the winds blow from the east to the west. These are the trade winds. In a band to the north, the system of winds blows generally from the west to the east. These are the westerlys. These systems are duplicated south of the equator. And in polar regions, there are systems of winds called the polar easterlys. I think I understand, sir. Then you can return to land. Thank you, sir. At the lookout point where we first started talking about the wind. Oh, that's a lovely spot. And uh, what have you learned about the wind since then? Well, you can't see the wind, which is just moving air, but you can see what it does. temperature differences start air moving in a kitchen or on the whole earth. And I know about the wind systems and their special names. Very good, Wesley. And I've learned one more thing, sir, that's very important to me. What's that, Wesley? Well, wind on water can be fun for a while, but I like wind on land a lot better. [Music] That was 1992. Wow. Um, yeah, Wesley. Uh, I was looking to see if I could find how many of these of this series there are, and most of my, uh, resources aren't listing all of them. So, we've seen three in most places I'm looking only list two. So, there you go. Bonus. Uh, what season is it? I mean, we had a frost warning this morning. So, what what is it? This is my older brother, Dale, and my sister Pam. My name is Steve. We all live in a farm in Wisconsin. If you've never lived on a farm, you might wonder what it's like. And that's the reason for my story, a story about autumn on the farm. [Music] It was raining while we were in school today, but now the sun has come out. And that's important to us because autumn is the time of year that we take the tractor out in the field and pick the corn. But you can't pick the corn if the fields are too wet. [Music] [Music] [Music] Steve, get out of the water. [Music] I'm good now. I can't get mine out. Babe, you're hard. Hi, Mom. Hi, fam. What you doing? Making strawberry jam. M looks good. I hope it is. Where's dad? Hi babe. He's out in the field picking corn. No, it's too wet. It rained today. You get out of there. What you eat now? You won't get this [Applause] winter. Father wants to pick the corn so the cows can have food to eat. It looks like the fields are still too muddy. A tractor can't move through muddy fields like these. When you live on a farm, you have chores to do all year long. In autumn, we get ready for winter by putting up storm windows. While I'm helping Grandpa, Pam and Dale are feeding the young [Music] cows. Looks like we're running out of food for the cows. [Music] [Music] The autumn days are getting shorter and shorter. Now it's almost dark when we go to supper. [Music] You coming on the butter pan? Yes. Not much corn left to feed the cows out in the bend anymore. How do the fields look? Be able to pick the corn soon? Nope. Still too wet. That sure doesn't sound good. If we wait too long for the fields to dry, snow could come and ruin the whole crop. Then the cows wouldn't have any food for winter. Say, kids, guess what I saw today in the woods? A deer. Why don't you go out tomorrow and see if you can find it? I think it's the same one we saw last spring. In the morning, Pam and D are going into the woods to look for some of the animals that Grandpa saw. [Music] [Music] The wood sure look different in autumn. Even the animals aren't quite the [Music] same. The woodchuck looks a little fatter. What's that over there? It's a wood [Music] job. Look at there. A raccoon. Let's see if we can catch up. [Music] The raccoon has grown a heavy winter coat that will help it keep warm during the long cold winter. The rabbit will be running in and out all winter long. But when it comes out of its nest to look for food, it has to be careful or it might become a meal for another animal like a hawk. [Music] Late in autumn, we can see lots of birds flying over on the farm heading south. But some birds, like the pheasant, will stay with us all winter long. We can find some very beautiful plants in autumn. [Music] The milkweed is full of seeds. Seeds that can be carried for miles by the wind. Father is going to show me how to use some of the new milking equipment in the barn. We have to milk the cows two times a day, every day of the year. But I easy cuz when dad was my age, he had to milk all the cows by hand. Now most dairy farms have machines so they can milk more cows and get cleaner milk, too. [Music] Okay, Steve, when you dump this milk into the dumping station here, it circulates around the hose on the bottom here and it follows this hose up to the bulb in the milk house. And there it is released by vacuum and goes out of the bulb and into the cooler. After milking all the cows, dad has to clean all the equipment with soap and water. He says it's very important that everything be kept clean. Maybe that's why he won't let me wash anything. Here comes a milk truck. It comes here every day to collect the milk. Got it in there, Red. Okay, there she goes. How's it doing? Oh, pretty good. How you like the weather, huh? Well, we could use a little more sunshine, a little less rain, I guess. So, yeah. Running short on corn now. Yeah, we got to get picking pretty soon. Now I understand the market. The driver takes milk to the dairy where it is sold. The money that dad gets will help to buy food and clothes along with supplies to run the farm. But when you live on a farm, there are some things you just don't have to buy, like pumpkins to make into a jacko'lantern. We'll plant the feed mix and grow pumpkins like this. Yuck. That's all I got to do. Use a spoon. You don't have squirting pumpkin seeds. Shoot them at Steve. My garbage disposal. My garbage dispos. Yuck. Yuck. We got to cut the bottom off. Fingers are frozen. Dale, can I see your pumpkin? Yeah. See it right here. Here the eyes. Take it out around and the nose upside down. Oo, popped in a piece. Here's mine. See, it's got happy face. It's got some hair, some eyes. Can we see yours, Steve? He's a maniac. He was made by a mad scientist who chill when he wants to. I'll meet you up. [Music] [Music] Well, another night has passed without train. Dad has taken the tractor out to see if he can pick the corn. Morning, Grandpa. Good morning. Does that look black enough? Oh, yes. You children, hurry up. It's about time for the school bus. Bye, Grandpa. Bye, Grandpa. Bye. Have a nice day. Don't forget to put on your winter clothes now. It's getting colder. She hoped that dad can pick the corn before it rains again. If we're lucky, the corn will be half picked by the time we get home from school tonight. [Music] Hey, Pam. Dad's picking the corn. Look, Steve. Well, it won't be long now before all the corn is picked. Soon snow will cover the empty fields, leaving only a memory of autumn on the farm. [Music] So, we have seen all four seasons. Uh, and the one thing I my takeaway is I wasn't paying attention to see if it's the same family. So, there's farm family in winter, farm family in spring, a farm family in summer, but I did not pay attention to see if it's the same three kids and do those um red caps and um raincoats show up again. I don't know. We'll have to do some research. Uh here is uh another national um archives film, Laredo to Panama, the Pan-American Highway. Enjoy. [Music] This is the road. They call it the Interamerican Highway, but it is a colossus of roads if you would. [Music] What is a road? A road is many things. First, it is a dream. An idea that man sees and the vision grows and matures until it is complete and man's dream comes true. Next, it is a plan. A plan for crossing deserts and conquering mountains and bridging [Music] rivers and hacking through the jungles. And next it is a job. Driving the stakes that mark the route. Clearing the right of way. Pouring the concrete and riveting the steel and rolling the macadam. Making the dream come true. A road is also hope. the hope for the future of a man's country, for his family, for his children, for his neighbor, and for the countries that are fastened together by the road. This is what I would like to tell you about the road. What the road means to us, the people of Central America. What it has done to bring a new life and a brighter future. What it is doing to bring a better understanding between neighboring countries. how it is helping to improve the economy. This too is what a road is made of. This dream began back in the 1880s. First of a railroad linking the two Americas, but it has never been built. Then in the 1920s, a highway was proposed, and in the 1930s, the work was started from the southern border of Mexico. All of the republics of Central America, Guatemala, El Salvador, Honduras, Nicaragua, Costa Rica, and Panama have built their sections with the cooperation of the United States government through the Bureau of Public Roads. [Music] The road is open now from Laredo, Texas to the Panama [Music] Canal. True, there are some sections that are not paved. But who minds a little dust in the summer and a little mud in the rainy season? The bridges are all in place and the end is now in view. But this does not end the dream. Today you can see and feel what the road means. Alive with people and commerce moving from village to town and town to city and country to country across the borders and through the barriers of time. [Music] The road has brought education for our children and young people. The small schools in the desert areas, the grade schools in the [Music] towns, the colleges and universities in the [Music] cities, and the agricultural colleges that will teach the young men the latest methods of tilling the soil to grow finer crops. coffee, bananas, corn, rice, and beans. This is a fine thing. The road has brought us a future for our children. And we are opening up new territories, new farmlands that since the beginning of time have been deserts and grew only cactus and mosquite. Now we are digging huge irrigation ditches that will carry water to the thirsty land. And new people will come to plant and harvest the rich crops. And a man will not have to scratch a poor piece of land to grow his beans and corn. [Music] And the crops will travel over the highway on packed trains and trucks and buses to the markets in the towns and [Music] cities. This is what the road is bringing a common market for the produce and products of Central America. And through this common market help to strengthen the unity of the western hemisphere. It does not happen overnight. We have been working 30 years. It will take more time and there are many problems to work out. But you can see it coming. The tops of buses loaded with goods. The large bus terminals, the marketplaces teeming with life and goods and services. With the clatter of people bargaining over prices, the exchange of ideas of cultures, everyone uses the road and everyone's life is affected by it in some way. The women with bundles on their heads. The men and boys with packs on their [Music] backs. The pack trains on their way to [Music] town. The man who drives his cattle from one grazing field to [Music] another. The farms and finaas each in some way is dependent on the road. The sugarcane is harvested and moves to the distillery and the air is heavy with a smell of rum. The tomatoes are ripe and the carts and trucks line up at the processing plant. [Music] The cotton has been picked and is bailed and travels to the mills to be made into cloth and the cloth into dresses and they will be displayed in the shop windows on the main street in the city. This is the work that the road does. Helping the people move their products from one place to another, from one country to another. This is what the road means to us. We are born along it. Grow up and live. Walk to the next town to court the girls and listen to the band concert. work along it and raise our families. And it's a part of our life and we are part of its [Music] life. The cattle ranches are moving into areas where we could not operate before. Now we can reach the markets over the highway and the trucks carry beef that will be exported to the markets of the world. Trucks. Trucks and buses. These are the modern burrows of the road. Day and night they carry the commerce of the countries. Tankers full of oil and gasoline over the mountains. Cotton and coffee and the many products of the farm and factory. The man with one small truck and the company with a growing fleet are at work. And this means more pesos or ketzers that are a part of the [Music] economy. More service stations and restaurants and motel. This is a new business, a place to fill the gas tank and eat a meal. Not too long ago, they were not so frequent. Today, there are more, and the distance between is not so great. In some places, there is a station on every corner where a few years ago, there was nothing to be seen. The new motel attract the tourist, and this is another new business that will contribute to the prosperity of these countries. [Music] Sometimes it is sad to see the ways of the older generations pass. But we cannot stand in the way of progress. This too is what the highway is bringing. Progress always it is the same. Where the roads are built there you will find that the people progress. that business progresses that the country progresses. It is communication that brings this and the road is but another means of communication where people communicate with each other and their neighbors. There the way of life improves. Too often we think of a road as a strip of pavement that joins two places on a map. But this is for the man who does not turn his head or lift his eyes as he travels. You have only to turn your head to see the wondrous things that come to live along a road. New industry, factories, [Music] hospitals, new lowpriced housing for the working man. [Music] New communities with social centers and playgrounds. These are attracting the more skilled worker. The beer that he brews and is carried over the road in the large trailers makes this possible for his family. He is improving his standard of living. [Music] New factories and [Music] plants, [Music] coffee, [Music] machinery, plastics. These are all along the road. The raw materials and finished products can move more rapidly along the ribbon of pavement. There are many miles of scenic beauty, of course, and there are few billboards to mar the view. [Music] And there are the cities where a man can come to be caught up in the excitement of many people gathered [Music] together. And the city is growing with new tall buildings. And the road is four lanes wide. And we pass over and under other highways that carry this swift city [Music] traffic. People in a hurry on many [Music] errands. We can visit the palaces of art, the cathedrals. define [Music] plazas and we can pause to let our minds and our souls be refreshed. [Music] The road is now open from Larredo to Panama, over 3,000 miles, and it has crossed the deserts and conquered the mountains and bridged the rivers and beaten back the jungles. and a caravan of buses drove from Panama to Mexico City in April 1963 to commemorate the opening of the road. [Music] There were fiestas and speeches and warm hand clasps and champagne and traditional greetings by the officials and the smiles and cheers and well-wishes of people. [Music] The people that build the roads and travel the roads and live and work along the roads. These are the people to which their road means so much. But the dreams do not fade. They continue on to tomorrow and tomorrow and beyond. The dream can see what is yet to come. It is good to live in these times, to see the changes that the road has brought. And there is a new dream, the last final link that will truly join the two Americas. The Darian Gap through Colombia. Then we can drive from the Arctic to the southern tip of South America. That is a dream worthy of a colossus. And it will be done. And the generations of the future will ride their bicycles and motor scooters and drive their autos along it. And the buses will be filled with people and produce. And the trucks and trailers will toil up and down the mountains and across the deserts. And the people of Central America will build a better life and have a brighter future as they exchange the wisdom and knowledge and cultures of their countries. And as the road comes to mean more to more people and they communicate, man will draw closer to a better understanding of his [Music] neighbor. What is a road? It is a dream. And men will never stop dreaming of them. Nor will they ever finish building all the roads that are dreamed of. [Music] That was Alan Oppenheimer. Can you believe that? I mean, it there's a this is of course uh American propaganda that was shown to other countries and saying like, look, good neighbors, good neighbors. Uh all the while uh our CIA was going in and like messing with all these governments um in horrible horrible ways. But that's a pretty picture. Um and Allan Oppenheimer Skeletor. All right.
